  1. Dealer performed a few software updates at next service time and I havent seen the issue since. I had a new issue appear last week where radio would not switch off when I was parking car. I could move through all menus, select a song on music player app, hit off button etc and radio stayed on even when leaving car. Volume adjustment was ineffective also. Radio eventually cut out and when I was leaving car the dash dial display was staying on. I returned to car a few hours later and all was ok.
  2. That could make sense or at least it corresponds with what I was told when my car was in for it's last service about 1 month ago. I reported 2 issues - car not starting for about 15 mins (happened twice in a year) and the random ICE on/off issue (not the issue sorted by 1941). Service manager told me they updated software with patches to what sounded like 2 or 3 components of the system. My overall version didnt change from 1941 that came down over the air many months ago.
  3. My car was in for routine 30k km service yesterday. I had reported 2 issues detailed in this forum - a) car wont start for ~ 15 mins and simultaneously shows rolling errors on dash (now happened twice in 1 year of ownership - 6 months apart) and b) infotainment system on a continuous restart loop and volume mutes (happened only once about 1 month ago). I had recorded a video of 1st issue so had an exact timestamp they could use to search car's logs. They informed me that they found both of these issues detailed in bulletins and separate software patches were needed and applied for both. Service manager is "confident" it will resolve both problems. I am not as confident but all I can do is wait and see. Main software version of infotainment system remains at 1941.
  4. My issue occurred during a period of warmer than usual weather also but strangely kicked off in morning time when temperature was not very high.
  5. Same issue here about 10 days ago. Happened for a day and hasnt done it since. Booked for a service next week and will mention it but I am not confident of a quick fix.
  6. Car suffered a repeat of the non starting issue again last night. 6 months since this has happened before. As per last time it did start after about 15 minutes. Various component errors appearing on dash when I was attempting to start car.
  7. Exact same symptoms. Email sent to dealer but no reply yet. It's in for routine service on 30/5.
  8. 1 year old Octavia here. On version 1941 for some time and I only saw 1 reboot in all those months since hitting this version. We had a spell of warmer than usual warm weather here for a few days. On Saturday morning (9am not very hot) my car started what looked like continuous reboots of the infotainment system also. Muting of the radio/music happened also and an error about parking brake appeared on dash. Turning off the infotainment system while driving did not stop the reboots. What worried me was that later I parked my car and returned to see that the radio was on despite it being off when I had parked it. I also noticed that car didnt appear to "shut down" on another occasion when I was locking it - the 2 dash dials remained on screen after locking and when I was walking away. All was good when I returned that time. Car has behaved as normal on Sunday and this morning. I'm concerned I'll return to a flat battery if radio stays on for some time and I will not be able to travel as required. I will get in contact with dealer.
  9. I think I have had similar on 1 occasion in early December. It eventually started after about 15 mins. Car had it first service since and workshop found no evidence of what happened. Their theory was that it could have been a once off upgrade that became corrupt. I posted about it here -
  10. Where is the menu option to switch this on/off? I dont see it working on my 2023 model (Diesel Style - non VRS) either. My son's 2021 Ibiza has it.
  11. Not that I am aware of. Car was stationary for 24 hours before these lights came on by themselves.
  12. 8 month old Octavia decided to randomly switch on courtesy front and rear lights on right side only while being parked in driveway . Was 24 hours parked in that same position. I started car and turned it off again and the lights switched off as normal. We were experiencing lower night-time temperatures last night which may be related to the issue.
  13. Car was at dealer for first 15k km service yesterday. This incident with the rolling errors and failed start did not show up in the log. It's a case of fingers crossed and hope for the best that it doesnt happen again.
  14. Same way if phone network went down, we'd be in trouble. My theory is I may have interrupted an update or it was an update that didnt run cleanly. I queried dealer on getting around the issue if I disconnected battery for a few minutes and he said it was definitely suggested for some issues by VAG. He did say it would throw other errors up when connected to diagnostics again so he wasnt hugely in favour of this approach.
  15. Did it start after a few mins each time?
  16. I have a new Octavia 2.0 diesel since May this year. 12,500 km on clock. All good until recently except for the famous infotainment system restarts which were fixed with an OTA software update. I went to start it on Friday afternoon and Lane Assist yellow icon was lit and dash (left clock side) seemed to roll through many errors in text format. I forgot to record them at time but there were many - could have included Lane Assist, Stability Control etc etc. It did this for about 10 minutes and refused to start. All was fine afterwards and it has been fine since with no evidence of issues. I called dealership and they were quite honest saying it could be a control unit having a "fit". They did acknowledge that they had seen one of their own demo cars with similar some months ago and it cleared itself and was fine since. It is in for a service in less than 3 weeks so I am going to chance driving until then unless the issue appears again and gives me grief. They had no error messages phoned home from my car. Has anyone had similar? Could be a software bug with recent updates?
