  1. arrived from CZ today, fits perfectly, €30 all in, thanks!
  2. Thanks very much, I ordered that.
  3. oh, I didn't intend to show it as it was not relevant to my question, if you want to see it here it is https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/177269148146
  4. Hi, I was unaware of the towing hook (8K0805615), and Mr Car didn't include one when I purchased it 2 years ago. I assume it should be stored with the spare wheel. I tried to screw my friend's bolts from a Passat station wagon into it, but it didn't work, which surprised me. Looking on eBay, this part is common with other cars, so that, for example, I can get this one for £14. Or what do ye think? Thanks!
  5. To avoid interrupting the regen, how do you know when to stop your car if a regen is in process?
  6. Recently, the regen happened to my car 24 hours after the car had been parked, though I had moved the car 2m forward from its parking position 4 hours before I heard the regen. Is this normal?
  7. (updated TDI) I did not know what regens was but AI tells me... In diesel engines, "regens" often refers to the regeneration of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The DPF traps soot particles from the exhaust to reduce emissions, but it needs to be cleaned regularly by burning off the accumulated soot at high temperatures. This cleaning process is called regeneration and can be passive (during long high-speed driving) or active (engine management injects extra fuel to raise exhaust temperature and burn soot).
  8. I have a 2017 Skoda Octavia TDI estate. Sometimes, after the car has stopped, I hear the engine making a lot of noise. My understanding is that's the fan working to cool the engine down. Last night, after a 30-minute drive, it started making noise 15 minutes afterwards, and it was very audible from inside the house. More worryingly, recently the car was parked up for 48 hours, and after 24 hours (of not being driven), I heard the engine making noise for about 10 minutes. Is there any cause for concern?
  9. About 10 days ago my steering was locked when I got back to the car and the key would not come out when I inserted it. Jigging the wheel and key did not work and would not come out of the ignition. I broke down outside a garage actually and they lifted the front and said it must be the cylinder. I called breakdown and on arrival initially, he could not free up, He sprayed oil by the key and somehow got it turned and it started fine. He recommended bringing it to a garage ASAP, he said if I wouldn't take the tow now I should keep the key in the ignition. So since then, I have tried to keep the key in and leave the car unlocked. The spare key does not lock it with the other key in the ignition it seems. Out of habit, I have removed the key in error multiple times and it's always turned 😅 I am worried about just continuing as normal as I'll inevitably break down at a bad time somewhere. I am waiting for my garage to give me a price to replace the cylinder, they say I may need a new key blade also. Has this happened to anyone? Any advice is appreciated!!
  10. Yes, my mp3s are all official downloads, unfortunately, the record companies have not conformed to this convention and I have to go through them to update.
  11. I can confirm that tags do not work in the player, having updated some mp3 files with mp3tag to include tags and the file still play in filename order.
  12. I updated my Infotainment system last year thanks to this forum to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T.7z. I have mp3 downloads from my vinyl purchases on the SD card. Unfortunately, some of these have the file name with no leading zeros and the tracks show as 1..., then 11... rather than 2, etc. I was looking at renaming the files and learned that modern players now control this via metadata/tags rather than the filename. But it seems that the infotainment SD card player does not support that. So my only option is to rename the files?
  13. The motor factor gave me a pack of 2 for free 😊 Popped one in and both 12Vs are working!! The small things that make you happy! Thanks all!!
  14. Thanks all, 2min job to pop off the glove box (press left side and pull down) and compare the fuse box to the picture above, only a fuse in #40, 20A, it's blown, will pop into a motor factors later for a new one, they sell a mix pack of 5 for €5.
  15. Brilliant. According to that page Cigar lighter (power outlet) fuses in the Skoda Octavia are the fuses #40 (12 volt power socket) and #46 (230 volt power socket) in the Instrument panel fuse box. According to this point in the code, this is the way to tell if they are blown, will that work?
  16. Superb. The boot socket does not work either! Maybe it's the fuse! When I had trouble with my infotainment upgrade before, they posted a schematic of the fuses (below), do you know where I can locate the relevant number for the lighter sockets? Thank you!
  17. Is it possible to get an adaptor so that I can plug my phone into the USB for Android auto but also have a pass through to enable another phone to be charged? My lighter socket is dead so I can't use that for a usb adapter. Maybe replacing that part is not too expensive at a dealer? many thanks!
  18. @Iway, thanks I was able to remove the alert from the screen, thanks! Funny, that's not in the manual.
  19. Out of nowhere having had the car for nearly a year I start getting this warning beep when I got over 30km/h. I searched though settings and the only one I saw was under winter tyres, the warning was checked and set to 30km/h. I unchecked this option a week ago but it's still beeping at 30km/h, it's so annoying for urban driving, I don;t know how it was put on? Where is the setting the I can disable?
  20. No. It also worked when I drove it after the jump! 😅
  21. A new battery was added by Skoda dealer in 2021, How do I get it fully charged?
  22. wow, thanks! Should the dealer charge me for that? Based on the fact that they charged €300 in 2021 I don't want to get a new battery from them if needed. I jumped it a lunchtime and it started straight away!! I drove it for 1 while and it restarted, The clock is not correct, also I noticed that after the clutch was replaced 2 weeks ago - yep a very unexpected breakdown - and I reset the clock then. Is that a sign the battery is on the way out?
  23. The local dealer actually sold this car they told me and serviced it regularly from 17-21, then it went dark with the 2nd owner. They told me they put a new battery in it in 2021 for €300.
  24. Wow, this happens when battery low. I've had no issue with it, wonder what could have happened. Thanks! I'll try a jump start.
