  1. As title i went back to the car after a walk, left the car in brutal sun with no ventilation and lost 1st and reverse This might have been mentioned but anyway had a quick search ,so it was the grommet thingy under the gear lever gaiter, i got there by just thinking it through anyway my solution was a product called 1st gear getter, fixed in minutes saved me putting a gear lever on as i couldn't find the grommet anywhere again please delete/ ignore if common knowledge otherwise may help someone in a search
  2. as title, coming back from Yorkshire and went into limp, cleared at motorway café and came on at increasingly shorter distances , tbh i have searched and gained a fair bit of insight into the problem , i changed the egr vacuum solenoid yesterday a/ because it was 20 quid b/ could it break down under heat like my oil boiler one did So did about 25 miles giving her some stick yesterday and she drives great, probably better . i may be fooling myself though and the egr is sticking but drives great, tickover steady. But i dont feel confident to drive to Yorkshire again i suppose if i had vcds i could tell the valve to move and gain more info ? btw she gets bp standard and millers ecoboost Also had a new steeing rack for mot and wondered if coulld be connected, cant get my hand to the connector, looks a solid thing though on the pics i have seen
  3. well i checked the bulbs a second time and when i pulled the side repeater out (from the back, no way the lens would come off) it seemed very wet ,thought i had sussed it but again became very intermittent . forward wind to now it will not happen for weeks then i will visit my folks in Yorkshire and that will set it off but not every time i do this trip so i have learnt to live with it. its weird when it happens ,rapid flash inside, normal out on the right same on the left but if left long enough will stop operating altogether on the left, reset ignition always works. one thing that happened before it started doing it was a new windscreen, it seems dry though yeah so it does seem to be after long use ,i was even thinking of trying a pc cooling fan on the bcm as an experiment but as said it seems to improve month my month come to think of it it was chucking it down when auto glass did the screen and didn't see a tent thingy
  4. Old thread but thought I would add, Feel free to fact check me but my ex like me has a Roomster but had a big dent and wiper motor innop so she bought a complete tailgate of eBay. Just asked her again and she says it literally just plugged in.but couldn't remember exactly where. Thing is she put aside a morning to do it and it wasn't needed so guessing she didn't follow the wires back far. Again please fact check me and next time I go to the scrappers will ask !!
  5. I've had a few done in Yorkshire on my sdi when i had it ,think it was £45 labour ,see edit (not inc tracking) new wishbones including console bushes down here i had it done in Bodmin and it was a ridiculous price they stripped that aluminium bracket arm, i believe this sometimes happens but never in Yorkshire ,put the console bushes in wrong and left the undertray off . Edit/thinking back it may have been £30 a side so still not bad
  6. The auto electrician confirmed bcm and i just missed out out that main dealer who clears new old stock ,it was 50 quid anyway booked it in at a vw specialist who made me wait 8 weeks then forgot to order the parts (Redruth) in the end fixed myself for a couple of quid ,the abs light had joined in with the bulb out lack of interest here but the search feature was useful as always love the car now and shes averaging 54mpg so i am ok with that,
  7. Well it's still an issue, I have changed the bulbs but still have the repeaters to do, checked module connections, fuse is tight and clean. Anyway I have an hour's diagnostic booked in with a very well rated auto electrician later next week so I will try and update with hopefully a resolution, maybe help someone in the future.
  8. Yeah cheers, the first seemed ok drivers rear but I will double check the rest,
  9. So my roomster 1.6 tdi has developed an indicator glitch, its ok for maybe 2o mins sometimes then i get the bulb out light comes on followed by rapid flashing of the direction arrows,, when i pull over and inspect they are flashing normally, it will happen to both sides, sometimes both sides sometimes one. ignition off it will reset. So i will continue to search on here but any ideas ? so far i have bought 4 new bulbs and 2 side but only changed one due to the rain, i have checked fuse is tight, i have checked tightness of connections of what i think may be the modules, anything else ? if my basic stuff doesn't fix (i will check for water in the side repeaters) it could it be the bcm?
  10. happened to me, flashing light, no start, did it while visiting my folks in Yorkshire so took it to a tuning place in Huddersfield, £90 ish iirc to delete immobiliser, they do a diy ecu on ebay also
  11. Had the same, the much higher loads on the front tyres, weight and weight transfer magnified the tyre weakness, thought my newish wishbone bushes may have gone at first (was shaking down hill) had them balanced and put on rear and new on front, OK now
  12. Yes but pleased I had immo Deleted so not stranded any more ! also New brake light switch 2 weeks Back and Afew random Bulbs, hope. Things settle Down a. Bit now., parking in. Sun. Instead of Driveway, drive damp out maybe!! Maybe for the slow drain you could use one of those solar chargers that plug into aux socket. Edit /phone putting in random. Capital letters!
  13. I had this last week (2003 Sdii) but it was the handbrake like very slightly glowing intermittently ,then very slightly glowing with ignition off keys out, checked brake fluid level and wire and all ok but it was a very damp day and hasn't happened again ,my immobbilliser light also comes on ,usually when car is hot but I've deleted the immo so it's just a light ,seems I have solder issue also
  14. Tbh my place in Yorkshire with the rock bottom price is 100 times better than the expensive clowns I used in Bodmin they forgot to put the undertray back on ,the console bush put in on the side they didn't break isn't correctly orientated ,they didn't track it back up. Had to get done here in Cornwall as the play was massive and shredding tyres by the mile and wheel wobble. When I eventually visited my folks in Yorkshire and took to my place there ,he did the mot and advised me of the shoddy job He did droplinks ,rear break reline untwisted CV boot ,and an mot for £80 including a lift to my folks house ,when you find a place like this you stick to it I guess.
  15. did both mine for mot ,my garage in Yorkshire is about £30 a side (including console bushes) plus cost of wishbones and console bushes (they tell me they are often damaged replacing wishbones) ) couldn't get to Yorkshire so had to use a place down here who managed to mess up the aluminium console ,if this happens eurocarparts do for about 50 quid
  16. Well forgot my log in and just couldn't retrieve it ,turns out it was a very old email i was using ,anyway bought an sdi estate in 2002 new ,put 270k miles on her and kept her until the scrap yard last year ,she had a hard life but i loved that car ,anyway i have another sdi now she drives alot tighter ,sits well and tbh gets afew admiring glances . shes had a remap (yes really) and i deleted the immobiliser afew weeks back ,new wishbones and droplinks (live on a private unmade road) anyway looking forward to largely been ignored again but lurking anyway 😀
  17. yes mine is held up totally by these but quite happy to leave this way 😎
  18. Not really answering question but I just got some twist pins of Ebay works great for this problem even if you make it a temporary thing but they look pretty good on mine tbh
