  1. 6'2 geordie here. I have the MK2 2.0 TSI. They are rare, but in terms of budget, you couldnt go wrong if you find a good one. Not very economical against the oil burners buuuuut 7.6 0-60 makes up for it.
  2. In fairness my initial research pointed in that direction. Not too expensive a replacement?
  3. So was pulling up at a carpark and the steering went heavy and the battery lamp came on. Turned off and back on again no issues. Thoughts? 2.0 TSI
  4. I have no idea. I just use bluetooth and my own tunez and waze satnav on my phone so
  5. Oh man thats bad luck. I wouldnt even know what to suggest. Hit it with a hammer maybe? (dont do that) Replacement units are expensive from what ive heard 😕 I wish i could link you to the breakers yard that has my old car as the unit in that works fine.
  6. take some pics of what it looks like. if its identical i can send you a disk that should fix it. Might have to send it to someone else when your done too haha.
  7. 6 months in, and I am besotted. My previous car was also a MK2 tsi140 se which had 120k on it that i onky had for 3 months before some drunken knobber totalled it on bonfire night last year. I loved that car and I had to go again. I had to have another mk2. I am soooo glad I did. She is a 2.0 TSI elegance with 97k on the clock. which was something of an upgrade. Purchased as a CAT N I was a bit apprehensive but damn. She's fine. So far in the first 6 months I've had a full engine service, firmware update to stop the German radio, both front brake calipers, disks, pads all done, both rear shocks and springs done, and she's booked in with a dsg specialist end of the month for a full gearbox service. Oh and I debadged and stuck new ones on, but tempted to go back to classic green. I guess I'm posting this as a vanity thing as I love her. But also, anyone have any suggestions on what else I could do make her life as long as possible. Also interested to hear if anyone else has a MK2 tsi ea888, and if there's anything nasty I should be looking for in future.
  8. I've noticed that the front brakes on both of the Superbs I've owned tend to have caliper binding issues. It wasn't super expensive to replace them along with the disks and pads, but it did end up costing around 350 The shocks and springs on the back weren't in great shape either, which definitely affected the handling. You'll feel it when you're taking corners, especially the back end feels a bit bouncy. Oh, and don't even get me started on the badges and wheel centres- they just disintegrate over time. Luckily, you can easily find replacements on sites like eBay. My TSI model has a bit of extra power, and when combined with my heavy foot, it tends to wear out the front tires pretty quickly. make sure your front tires are a good matching pair to improve performance. Just a little heads up from my own experience!
  9. Hi guys i do have the disk still (i actually have 2.) I dont know if i can burn them myself buuuuuut if anyone needs help...
  10. The seller is greenbell14. I would advise photographing your error and messaging him as he will no doubt point you to the right firmware. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155233287375?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=x4JAut3DSZG&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=DPYbVcSITUW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  11. Ive had this issue before and got a disk from Ebay to update it. Quite the doddle.
  12. Hi Guys. So ive got a couple of niggles with the car at the moment. My cruise control, and most functionality of the HUD doesnt work. When pressing the cruise button it says "driver assist button faulty". with the HUD i cannot cycle through MPG, temp etc. Stuck with either the phone or Range. My other niggle is that out of 3 12V plugs in the car, the only one that works is the one in the boot, the other 2 dont work (despite the one in the front having a green lighting in there) Also, i doubt anyone will be able to answer this one as it seems my engine is quite rare (2.0tsi EA888 with DSG) but has anyone mapped this engine? if so was it worth it? I am happy with the performance of the car it is something of a sleeper, but i wouldnt mind making it SOUND a bit more grunty than it does. Finally, my car was a CAT N, YY61 ARX, wondering if the old owner is on here and could shed some light on just how bad it was when it had the shunt? Repairs all done but just curious.
  13. Welcome to the club Only thing i would say is if your have DSG, get it serviced! Front brake calipers and rear shocks have been a bit of a bind for me also but worth changing if they are old.
  14. I just popped the disc in, and after 45 mins it worked again

  16. Yeah mate it's great having a community of people who love the ol' mk2 superb.
  17. Success! I now have full functionality and the glorious sound of smooth radio again. Anyone need the link for eBay (cd was 9 quid) let me know. It worked
  18. Well here goes nothing...
  19. Ain't she a beaut. 2.0 TSI elegance.
  20. I'll let you know if it works
  21. It hasn't arrived yet. Ordered a proper one. Fingers crossed it will work. Did you do anything to the car out of the ordinary to trigger it
  22. I've got a disc to update fw. Hopefully that will do the job.
  23. Been on an hour and didn't move.
  24. Yeah but when I so, that message comes up and doesn't go away 😕 also have no audio at all.
