  1. I'm very grateful for your advice and I'm excited to enjoy the wheels too.
  2. Thank you very much for your help Carlston, happy days !
  3. Hi again, I'm still struggling to find the Spectrum 7 hole 16" alloy wheels. Seems i would have to buy a set from four different sellers, with the uncertainty of state of refurb / colour match. May i ask for your expert advice please ? Audi made a lovely 5 spoke wheel for the A6, namely C5 8D0601025C 16" x ET45 x 7J which i think were mated to 205/55/16 tyres. Ebay have a set and my question is whether the bolt pattern and fitment will be compatible. Hope i can move on soon and dump the 18's, because this week i've buckled one and one other has a bulge on the sidewall. Damn potholes !
  4. Hi Kingkev and welcome ! Nice models you have there, the Superb must have been one of the first built with the CR engine ? I have been here for a while and i must say it's informative and fun.
  5. Hi Paul, Welcome from a newbie ! It has been fun and so informative to be part of the club and i hope you find it fun too. Thumbs up on your new Rapid too !
  6. Welcome from a relative newbie ! What a beauty, happy days. 😀 When i was a young Dad to my beautiful daughters, i asked them to remember me when i retire by gifting me a VW Touareg V10 TDI. Needless to say i'm still waiting, so......maybe if i moderate my request to an Octavia VRS ? 😁
  7. I agree these look classy and appropriate, thanks for sharing ! Do they conform to the spec' ?
  8. Thank you very much for your well informed reply. Then i will either need to choose an OEM style from the MK2 range or buy a non OEM wheel.
  9. I'm aware this topic has been popular in the past, so please excuse me for giving it another airing. I can't find wheels i like to suit my facelift 63 plate Superb Elegance. My search is for 7J x 16 ET45 five spoke design. (i think this is the correct spec') The MK3 wheels are good but are outside of the spec' So, please tell me if i have to look outside of Skoda product ? I've seen these but unsure of compatibility. Thank you in advance for your comments.
  10. Hi Rob, I've only recently joined and you've definitely come to the right place for a wealth of information and community. Have fun and welcome of course. Nick
  11. Did you go with Pirellis ? I had a set on a Merc last year and thought they were noisy.
  12. Michelin summer tyres have given me the most miles and are hard to beat. Happy New Year !
  13. I bought a complete set of rubber mats which are OEM; i have always preferred to get original. Yes, they're not as thick as others i've had but they have smartened up the cabin ! Time will tell whether they're good quality.
  14. I may be both naive and lucky ! I bought a set of mats and a few small bits for my Superb before reading the above. Delivery took nearly a month and tracking was impossible, but everything arrived and no customs charges - yet !
  15. Thank you Rooted, her employer needs to step up i agree. Her manager collects from dealership then she collects from manager. I thought the information might explain the original post.
  16. On-topic but different brand......... Bought a black 1995 Mercedes C220D manual back in 2006, never got used to the foot-operated parking brake. 😒 Collected it from the local indie after it's first service to be told the sump shield was steel and it took two guys to lift it ! Nor did i realise it had bullet proof glass ! Tracked it back to the supplying dealer who said it was a diplomats vehicle modified to (hopefully ) withstand a car bomb. Back in the days of the N.I. troubles. It was then i realised why the fuel consumption was down !
  17. A friend is supplied with a new diesel Superb or Octavia every six months through her work. Since last year, both cars needed top ups before being replaced. I checked them and found oil was very low. Her employer wasn't impressed either ! He later told her that the factory doesn't put much more than the minimum. This was from a dealer.
  18. My experience is just as irritating as above. Imagine my surprise when i realised that, by simply moving the steering wheel by a degree or two, it caused the engine to start, presumably because it was sensing a need for power.
  19. oops ! ........Mercedes' experiment with water based paint and poor steel caused premature rusting and severely damaged their image. I loved the driving experience of the W202 C class, W124 E class and W210 E class but realised my pockets weren't deep enough to maintain them.
  20. I also enjoyed your review of your W204, this model was a pivotal step towards recovering their reputation as a premium brand. The 90's saw a disasterous
  21. Thank you W193, it's good to be welcomed here ! Until now, i have mainly driven diesels but have decided to buy a petrol this time. Will miss the clattter, smell and character of the oil burners but petrol will suit my driving as i slip into old age 😜 with shorter journeys. Is it wise to save for a MK4 ? The 1.4 TSI has appeal and i haven't discounted the 1L yet. I like the MK3 shape though and i'm open to a good one from 2015> I drove a friend's 19 plate Fabia 1L and i was impressed..........but wondered if the three pot would struggle with the weight of an Octavia. I guess i should test drive them all and decide. Any comments are welcome and i'll keep you posted with progress 👍
  22. Please excuse my computer illiteracy 😂 My car journey started in the 80's and i still can't keep one for more than a year ! Is there a cure ? Currently drive a 10 year old diesel merc which i've found to be so fragile with electronic faults. So, i'm rejoining the vw audi group and i'm looking for an octavia. I'm looking forward to researching the model and sharing my experiences. Thank you.
  23. Hi to everyone ! I have joined and wanted to post my hello in the right place, but i couldn't write anything. Hope to hear how to introduce myself soon, thank you.
