  1. It's on 78,000 and it's a Taxi so yeah it's been driven around the world pretty much! I know it should work. I would just rather spend out on software that is guaranteed to work 100%
  2. Hi guys, So I drive a 2021 Skoda Octavia 1L petrol and the rear brakes need replacing. I have been trying to search everywhere for information and a solid answer on whether this can be done by myself. My plan was to buy obdeleven or similar and use that to open the epb and perform the pad change. But the guy who I rent the car from is adamant it cannot be done and he said it takes a dealer or he said knows a guy who is a maverick that can do it. I feel like that is total crap. I was trying to help the guy by doing the labour for free if he paid for the pads but he is being awkward. Does anyone have any info on this at all please? Or have done it themselves?
  3. That's just what I read, not my personal opinion.
  4. It's 205/60 -16. There has been a lot of rain but I can only remember aquaplaning slightly once. It's not at the markers in the middle. Of course I care about safety more than anything. I just wondered if it was really urgent. I read somewhere that it is bad to change your tyres early. So yeah I just wanted other peoples opinions and hopefully it helps someone else.
  5. Hi, I am a bit confused about this tyre and whether it needs changing asap. Someone else said it's fine for a bit longer but I think it's borderline as it down to the marker pretty much. Can I have some other opinions please?
  6. Thank you I will have a look through. Yeah that makes sense. To be honest I don't use the nav much. I use waze through android auto mostly.
  7. Hi, I wanted to ask if it is possible to manually update your software via a usb and is there somewhere to get the download file for it? My car is a 2021 Octavia. I gave attached a picture of my current system information if anyone can tell me if there is an update for it? Basically what I am trying to do is fix the sos error or to update the software first before I explore other options.
  8. Yeah thanks, I was thinking this might be needed. The guy whose car it said the warranty is expired. But I will keep my fingers crossed for a solution.
  9. Hi, Yeah as title says basically. The rear wiper stalk worked when you pushed it back and now I can't push it back or it's not working for some reason. Has anyone else had this?
  10. Hey everyone, I have got a 21 plate Octavia and once a day or so there is a bottle type crunch sound then usually the sos has an error and the infotainment system crashes. I have seen a few other people have had this problem but I was wondering if there is a solution that has been found yet please? I do have an update which I am going to do in the next few days. I don't know if it will help but worth a try. The pic below is the current info on what software is running if that helps?
  11. Hi everyone, Basically I just got a 21 plate Octavia mk4 but there I wanted to change a few things. I was hoping to turn off the seat belt warning as I am a taxi driver and sometimes it's necessary to not wear a belt and also it's annoying explaining to drunk people that they need to put their seatbelt on etc. The other thing is the doors auto locking. Please don't judge me, I know these are both safety features and I understand why they are there. I don't agree with not wearing a seatbelt by the way. I just find it annoying. I feel like it would be silly for me to spend 100's on it when I will barely use it. There is not really any people with scanners near Portsmouth on the list so I am asking what is the cheapest way to get what I need to this myself please? I had a look at the obd11... The £51 one. So I would need that and the £40 yearly plan? Am I understanding that correctly? Or is that no good for new cars?
  12. Yeah I don't use anything on the back of the pads either. I am going to take the wheels off tomorrow and clean the brakes with brake cleaner or try to work out if there is anything obvious.
  13. I haven't had this car long but when I checked the pads today there was a lot left on them. Definitely not a wear issue. As for quality I forgot to check what brand they were. I will check again tomorrow. I noticed the brake disc has quite a lip on it also. How about for the slider pins. Is moly ok?
  14. Hi, I just wanted to ask it's common for mk3 Octavia's to suffer with brake sqealing if it's not to do with the pads getting low? Then also what is the best lubricants to use and where to prevent brake noise? I only ask because everyone seems to have different opinions so I thought I would ask here. Lastly if the pads are not low then can I take them out and lubricate them and refit? Thanks in advance.
