2015 Scout Rear Diff Failure - Options
Thanks Matt. They're not too far away from me. So far I've sent messages to: Mr Gearbox (Sheffield): They seemed open to looking at it. M&T Transmissions: No response yet but the garage I went too had had some bad experiences with them. Sheffield Gearboxes: Had no experience of working on these so not considering that one. No experience of any of them. Worryingly, when on the ramps at the garage it was at, they pointed out that it looked like the haldex filler plug hadn't been out for a long time, despite supposedly having had a haldex oil change at my local garage last year.

2015 Scout Rear Diff Failure - Options
Just been delivered the news from my garage that the rear diff has failed on my 2015 Scout and is the reason for the increased road noise I've been getting (recently pretty bad). Will be having a chat with him in the morning where he'll show me what he thinks but he's not dropped the oil yet to see what condition that is in or how much in the way of metal fragments there are in it. I'm thinking the worst right now but also wondering what likely scenarios there are and what options might be open to me. I should imagine that a new diff is hugely expensive and not worth it for the value of the car. (2015, bought 3 years ago, currently 120k but otherwise in v good condition). I've heard talk on hear of diff bearings going and this being a relatively cheap fix (compared to new diff). Is it possible to diagnose this being the issue without removing and stripping the diff. I'm not sure I want to be undertaking potentially costly exploratory works to find that its not fixable relatively cheaply and a whole new diff is the only answer. I have found some (online) a few gearbox specialists locally to me (in Sheffield, UK). I'll be contacting them to see what they think. I feel like I'm facing either a potentially huge and unknown bill or being stuck with a worthless car and having to start searching for something to replace it. Is there any value in one of these with a bust rear diff? Is it possible to remove altogether and carry on using as a fwd octavia, or is that just silly talk? I know I'm probably clutching at straws but funds are limited and need a decent sized family estate. Sort of regretting getting a scout now. Broke my first cardinal rule when I bought it of not buying cars with additional, complicated extras... usually prefer to keep things simple and didn't this time... doh!

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
I've just spoken with Skoda via their webchat and got the following response: "I just spoke with the Technical Team for guidance and they have advised that the Cambelt interval change for your Škoda Octavia Estate Scout 2.0 TDI 150 PS 4x4 is 140, 000 miles and there's no time stipulation."

Octavia Scout 2015 Towbar
I'm not sure if its 150 or 190, how do I tell? 😐 I'm also not sure if that westfalia towball cap is original and indicates its a wesfalia tow hitch or not. Will I be able to tell somewhere else on it? I'm not intending towing, just wanting to mount a 4 bike, bike rack, if poss.

Octavia Scout 2015 Towbar
Hi I bought a used Octavia Scout 2015 last year that came fitted with a towbar as per the attached photo. I'm wanting to fit a towbar mounted bike rack but not sure of the weight capacity of it. I was hoping to get a 4 bike rack but Halfords have told me that they only have a 2 bike rack listed for this car due to the weight capacity of the towbar. Anyone know if this is correct. I've tried other bike rack suppliers but can't find any info. I'm not sure if the towbar is factory fitted from the car being new or not. Is anyone able to identify the bar from the photo or able to help advise. Can get more photos if needed. Thanks

Auto Cab Climate
Definitely seems to have improved things. Still don't think it manages it as well as my old car but maybe thats just the way things are. Keep getting emails from Biskoda to remind me to 'Mark as Solution' but can't find the button for this. Any pointers?

Auto Cab Climate
Having had my 2015 Octavia Scout for a few months now, I've noticed that the Auto setting on the interior climate system doesn't seem to work particularly well and wondering if there could be a problem. On my old Saab 9-3, I just left it on auto and it seemed to control everything perfectly. If it was cold, it would automatically boost the fan to warm the cab up to the set temperature. If the windscreen needed defrosting, it automatically directed hot air to the window demisters. On my Octavia, this doesn't seem to happen so obviously and am finding myself having to use manual controls more readily. I'm having to turn the fan speed up manually and direct the heat flow to where needed manually. All of these controls work perfectly so no issues with the fan but just doesn't seem to manage it automatically particularly well. Has anyone else experienced this or could I have a fault somewhere? On a side note, I'm really liking the Skoda but I seem to have gone from a car with the best cup holder in the world (Saab 9-3) to one with the worst (Octavia - Completely useless - What were they thinking?).

How to identify Head Unit
How do I identify what head unit I have. I've read that it could be Amundsen or Columbus. I've attached a photo of system info screen if that helps. I'm wanting to update the sat nav which seems like it is free to download from skoda but info online seems to suggest that I might need to copy the download to an official skoda SD card depending which head unit it is. What is so special about a Skoda SD card. I don't really want to overwrite the original card in case I run into issues and end up with no sat nav. Also, how do I tell if there are any software updates available?
