Confused about Timing belt change interval.
Hi All, Just to confirm that I too received an email - practically same as jeallen01 - which is below - ie change cambelt at 15 years or 180,000 miles - which ever is sooner. So, bish79 - I don't know how many miles you do in a year - but you maybe ok for a another few years yet - shame your garage is saying 140,000 when Skoda are officially saying 180,000. That's a big differece of 40k miles - which for the average person is approx. 4 years. Hope this helps. jakk.

Fuel Economy Superb 2.0 TSi vs 1.5 TSi
Hi Vlady, I ended up buying a 2019 (69 reg) 1.5 SEL Exec. It's a 7 speed auto, and love it to bits. In terms of economy, around town I'm getting around 45mph - and in very heavy traffic that drops to around 35mph. However on the mway, I'm getting around 59mpg !!!! Having said that, I do drive in economy most of the time (60 mph on cruise on mway). One thing I've noticed is that when driving around town, car hits 30 mph in gear 4 - so put it manual and move up a gear, hence the better for fuel economy - I do that a lot - just to get best out of economy. In the 2 (almost) years I Owned this, I've done around 30k miles, and very happy with it. If you are not going to charge your iV that often, take the battery weight into consideration - as that will affect the economy. I would love to buy an iV - but was approx. £10k more when I was looking. I think the 2.0 Tsi will be more powerful and will give you pleasure taking off at lights, so if that's what you're looking for, then go for it. When I put my 1.5 into Sports mode, it does take off - which I do every now and then. If I was you, take both a 1.5 and 2.0 out for a drive and drive it like you want to and see which you feel more comfortable with. Hope this helps. Jay.

Android Auto
As komoornik has insunuated - have you tried a data cable, rather than a normal cable? I have the Columbus in my superb and won't work with a normal cable, but perfect with a data cable.

Music on SD card playing in random order
Thanks Stonekeeper - I'll have a look at the properties of folders and filenames and make they are set correctly. This may take a little while, so I'll try just a small number of folders first then report back. Thanks for your reply. Jakk.

Music on SD card playing in random order
Hi All, I have a Superb mk3 (2019 facelift). There is 2 SD card slots in glovebox. In one of them, I've put an SD card with MP3 music on it. I've copied the music from my laptop and can see the folders and MP3's in the order they should be in (file/folder Name order). When I select Media in the car, the folders are not in same order, also the music being played appears to be in some random order. Also, I can see folders which I've not copied onto SD. I've made the folders and filenames alphabetical, so they play in the order I want. However, the folders appear in a strange order. Anyone know how I can view the folders and music in the car, in the same order that I see on laptop? Many Thanks in advance. jakk.

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
Thank You all for your responses. Eventually we did get a car that had 56k miles (2015 1.4TSi) - and previous owner changed the belt at 32k - so we are safe now - as EnterName mentioned maybe take the approach - "if in doubt, change it" - luckily we don't need to. Anyway, thank you all. jakk

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
That is true Warrior193 - hence asking you guys. I do also want to ring a few Main dealers to see if they are singing from same hymn sheet. What surprises me, is how come Skoda themselves are suddenly saying the interval can now be 180k miles (or 15 years) instead of 60k miles (or 5 years) - Maybe I should play safe and advice my son to get one that has already had it changed.

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
Thanks Warrior193, So it does appear to be true - Just didn't want to take the one Skoda main dealers word for it - I could have rung plenty more main dealers - but thought there is more value in getting fellow Skoda drivers view - So thanks for confirming. Jakk.

Confused about Timing belt change interval.
Hi All, My son is looking to purchase a Skoda Octavia - from 2015 and newer. With that kind of age, it will have a few miles on it - seen a number between 60k - 120k miles. I saw a particular one at a Skoda main dealer with 67k miles - I rang them and asked if that 7 year old car had it's timing belt done - I was surprised at his reply - when he said I don't need to change it, as Skoda had very recently (2 months 'ish ago) changed their policy on cambelt interval. The main dealer has said (and he quotes Skoda): "For some variants, this means that there is no service interval at all with a 'fitted for life' items that can be considered as 15 years or 180,000 ,miles" He said, unless we lived in a dusty country we don't need to change the cambelt (and it is a belt not a chain). Question to my fellow Skoda owners is - is this true - as buying a car of this age and miles opens a whole load of options for my son. Is this true for ALL Skoda's - I drive a 2019 Superb myself - with only 30k miles - and was going to brace myself in 2 or 3 years to replace it - sounds like I'll be ok for quite a number of years - or have I got that wrong? Thanks in Advance. Jakk.

Rear Wiper - Operating without being switched.
Thanks for explaining this, I have driven on Mway's with front wiper on and rear does not sweep, This is what I prefer. I drive a hatch, so as you say, this must be estate only setting. Thanks

Rear Wiper - Operating without being switched.
Hi, My Superb does this but only because it's raining I have the front wipers on auto - AND I put the car in reverse. If the car is not in reverse, the rear wiper does not move (unless I switch it on) - from what I know there is no auto option for the rear wiper. I'll have to assume you are posting this because you were not in reverse when it was raining? Sorry is this does not help - just thought I'd add that this is normal if it's raining and your going backwards. Jay. Sorry Langers2K - You beat me to it - your post is saying the same as me.

First long drive
Hi BillyParker, If you drove in bad weather conditions with lots of varying speeds I think getting 45mpg is very reasonable for a 2ltr car. I live in Manchester and kids are down South - I regularly do 500 mile round trips - I have a 1.5 SEL Exec and always use ACC on motorways - I'm getting between 55-58 mpg (in good conditions). This is simply a beautiful car to drive. I always have a competition with myself to keep my green score as close to 98 / 99 as possible. Having said that, I've noticed the Sports mode - which I've used now and then, which blows economy out of the window. During bad conditions - my mpg drops down to 51mpg I do think that if you repeated you 850 mile trip in decent weather & driving conditions then you'll defo get into the low to mid 50's for sure. Happy Driving.

Expert help required please
As others have said, just start it up (assuming battery is ok) - then leave it running until all is warmed up (usually 5-10 mins) and drive it. The only thing is that if the handbrake was on for that time, just be easy when you first move.

Headlight indication in instrument panel.
Thanks Patent, didn't realise this when I bought the car - glad I did though.

Headlight indication in instrument panel.
Thanks Bigman1976, I'll look out for it next time the lights come on - However, if that is the only indication, then this is definatley a flaw, as I'd like to see within the instrument panel what is "on" and what isn't. If you saw this (sorry didn't see this) in your pre-facelift model then I'll assume mine won't have any indication either (bar what you said). Thanks Jay.
