  1. Took the beast down to the garage today as it has its French MOT on Monday. Got the door card off to look at the plugs on the comfort module and sure enough they are highly corroded. Is it a case of replacing the module or just giving it a good clean? I won't have it back in my hands until Tuesday so plenty of time for research!
  2. Interesting. I'll go and look again, but the left (drivers side) doesn't move at all...
  3. Hi again. So in amongst the various electrical problems I have a Pioneer aftermarket stereo fitted. I am wandering how many of the issues I have are related to the wiring problem mentioned in other threads where there is 12 volts going across the wrong pin. Here's the list so far. 1. Dashboard temperature gauge not working 2. Nothing at all on central locking either on the key or turning the key in the lock 3. Wing mirror controls the right mirror on both left and right setting. 4. Left hand LCD display which I think should be a clock resets to zero every time the ignition is off . That is probably it for the moment thanks for listening! Milo
  4. Hi everyone I have the same fault, any progress yet? ðŸĪ”ðŸĪŠ
  5. Sorry I should have been clearer it's very obviously the plastic Bush in The selector slot so a new one is ordered. A chap on YouTube did a temporary fix with insulation tape which I have done for the moment until the part arrives! The rest of the gearbox changes very well so if I find anything more I'll go through the alignment, thanks!
  6. Hey all I put a greeting in the correct forum but I thought I would say hello in here as well as I'm likely to be in here quite a lot in the next few weeks! My 99 Octavia 1.9 TDI 110 has 290,000 kilometers on it with pretty good services history. There is the problem getting reverse gear and sometimes first which I am in the process of sorting out but there are also a couple of electrical problems like the temperature gauge not working on the dash, and nothing working on the door locks whether on the button or key. If anyone has bright ideas on the electrics that would be great, if I don't manage to sort a few things out in the next few days I will start more specific threads!
  7. A few years after my holiday in the South of France I worked for them in North Wales. Quite bizarre but I suppose good experience! A few years ago I had a Skoda superb saloon with the 1.9 TDI 130. It was a fabulous car until the engine management started playing up after filling up with opaque diesel. It went to the breakers after 400,000 kilometers.
  8. LoL probably even more years ago than you I was on a PGL holiday there!
  9. Hi Pete. Not with PGL by any chance?
  10. Hello and bonjour all! A few weeks ago I sold my 2Cv to get a van, but decided to get an interim car to last me a couple of years before I do that. Sat in the back of a car sales place (in Beziers if you're interested) was a sad looking 1999 Octavia estate with towbar. Not prepped, no MOT (CT here) but clean and tidy, and good service history. I found the issue with reverse gear online, so that wasn't scary, just a couple of electrical issues to deal with. At the price I paid I can get a bit of work done on it so hopefully I'll be on the forum for a while to come! Tchin!
