  1. Thanks for all the comments. I think I've improved matters behind the glove box. The airbag light now goes off for a second before coming back on. Does that mean that's just the fault that needs clearing via software? Thanks all
  2. Just found an older vagcom printout: Address 15: Airbags Labels: 1J0-909-60x-VW3.lbl Part No: 1J0 909 603 AS Component: AIRBAG VW3 - V04 Coding: 16723 Shop #: WSC 31480 VCID: 7AADE4A8C5C81D7A197-4B9A 1 Fault Found: 00589 - Airbag Igniter 1; Passenger Side (N131) 32-10 - Resistance Too High - Int ermittent Is anybody able to help me work out how to fix this please?
  3. So I've taken the seat out but there is no loom underneath, does that mean the issue is the dashboard air bag??
  4. Hi folks seems a bit quiet in here... Just wondering if the broken cable error that seems to happen on a lot of Mark 1's is usually found on the seat side or the loom side. I have spare seats which seem to be operational so if I just swap a seat out we'll let potentially get rid of the warning light? Thanks and advance Milo
  5. Starting to get chilly in the mornings now and no heating in the car... Any clues how I should proceed to get the heater working please?
  6. Does anybody have an exploded isometric diagram of this part of the fuel pump please?
  7. Hi all I have the same issue but would this be relevant from the vcds print out?
  8. Greetings all I have a slow drip from my fuel pump. It looks like it's from the big round bit in the middle of the distribution side, how bad is that to take out, service or replace o-rings etc? Hope you all have a good weekend. Milo
  9. Well despite it being supposedly for the right engine and the right pipe it was not. Way too big in diameter. So as there is a part number on it for the pipe itself rather than the Skoda part number what do you all think of just ordering a length of that pipe and replacing it with that, obviously making sure it's properly routed?
  10. Excellent thank you that seems to have done most of the trick! I still have no consistent power to the trip computer and clock, am I now down to having a dry joint behind the dash somewhere? I'm hoping it's just another wire. I did notice a thin blue wire that had become detached at the back of the head unit...
  11. Hi all I have an aftermarket Kenwood in my Octavia but it's switches off completely and resets whenever I switch the ignition off, along with all the trip computers and the rest of the dashboard. I found some threads referring to this issue, but I am not great with electrics, most of it makes no sense to me. Could anybody please simplify the explanation of what might be wrong or which wire might be connected badly or wrongly?
  12. Thank you I have tracked it down and ordered it. I found the isometric randomly on the internet so didn't have the parts list attached. Thank you!
  13. So with a bit more research I think it's number 34 on this diagram from a different thread on the forum. I am basing that on it going into the bottom of the expansion tank and then hooking onto a metallic pipe on the other end. How do I translate this into a part number? There is one stamped on it but every site I go on tells me it's not compatible with my car??
  14. Greetings all Progress on the Octavia, swapped out the wiring loom in the driver's door (LHD) and now have central locking but only from the boot lock as the driver's door is not operational yet! Next issue on the French MOT is a coolant leak which I have found but need a part number for the replacement pipe, hoping somebody can help with either a diagram or a link, it's the pipe that loops underneath marked in yellow in the two pics. Thanks in advance! Milo
  15. So I have found a wire with no connection continuity to the plug. Red with a yellow stripe, connects to the pin at the end of the red line. Anyone know what it is?
  16. Brilliant that is much clearer thank you.
  17. Morning all. I've put an inspection camera into the hole that the loom descends into and there is definitely not a plug to be detached anywhere visible. The loom heads off towards the inside of the dashboard, does anybody have a video or hints and tips how to get to the other end of it please?
  18. Nope they go straight in to the door ðŸĪ”
  19. Greetings all My local breakers yard has Mark 1 Octavia in stock which I am going to go and rob blind. Can anybody give me hints or tips to get the driver's door wiring loom out in one piece please? Having now put the machine on vcds it looks like there are broken wires in the loom. Obviously it's a plug on the door side but I am very much hoping it's the same under the dash so my plan is to rip the whole thing out. What I am not sure about is how to get under the dash to the other end of the loom... All assistance much appreciated as usual!
  20. It's been a while since the post but hopefully you're still around... What was the symptom a lack of movement on the temperature gauge?
  21. Hi all. Took the comfort control unit out of the door, cleaned the contacts an no change 😕 any suggestions as to what to try next? Is it time for a new unit if so does anybody have an idea where to get one?
  22. Might need to test it in a non live environment first!
  23. That's what I was planning on using. Did he use it through the material or peel it off to get access to the insulation below for the aerosol?
  24. Greetings Does anyone have any tips and tricks to make a tidy job of re-sticking the fabric outer layer to the headlining? Mine is delaminating over about two-thirds of the length of the car.
  25. Also found the Cruise control, which works! Possibly the simplest CC I've eer seen, didn't realise what it was until I read the manual... ðŸĪŠ
