CUNA engine rebuild approx cost and is it even worth it
Hello all. So some time ago I already made some posts regarding excessive oil consumption and regen problems on my used 2016 vRS, 2.0tdi manual, since then I got the car checked quite some times and came to a conclusion that my engine is quite probably letting oil burn in cylinders, messing up the turbo and dpf filter in the process. Had the dpf taken off and cleaned and guys say the turbo is full of oil and needs repairing or replacement, my mechanic says he is convinced that the piston rings are the culprit and new turbo and cleaned dpf would just end with same fate if I dont change the rings. In short I might be looking at a complete engine rebuild smh... So I wanted to ask if someone in here already done the CUNA engine rebuild on their vRS / GTD? How much approx. Could it cost even tho I know price could be anything? Was the results good? Is it basically new engine or you still had problems in the future? Or should I just sell the car and let someone else struggle?.... Thank you all! :')

CUP and CUN
I bought a used 2016 vrs tdi earlier this year with a CUNA engine and that thing is guzzling on oil like an alcoholic is guzzling on booze... My car is driving just fine altho it does act a bit weird at times like very often high idle RPMs (possibly struggling with regens), as I mentioned oil is pretty much disappearing etc. I went to Skoda service for a diagnosis a week ago and in short they didnt go into too much detail, just pretty much told me that my engine and turbo are cooked and handed me a 20kโฌ repair offer.... Yeah... And talked with a mechanic that repairs DPFs and turbos in those and explained me that these specific engines have a very bad map on them in short basically making them "destroy" themselves, rings get fried, thing burns oil, sh_t goes into the DPF clogging it, stuff goes back into the engine, all that drags turbo along with it, repeated mess of a process... Idk dont shoot the messenger lol. Edit: apparently the car was maintained well and has service history, but who knows who and what did to it...

Noise turning left
Update on my noise turning left; One of the engine mounts was the culprit. Mechanic changed it and says the noise is completely gone. At first we thought it was a right wheel bearing but he changed that also at first but with little improvement. So yeah. Have your engine mounts checked.

I have a red diesel manual mk3. My time was around 8seconds. Ive been lied to. (Or my shifting is just trash or the fact that its tdi, or not red enough ๐ฅฒ)

Help!! My Vrs is going through oil too fast.
My manual 2.0 tdi 2016 vRS was chugging oil so fast it would put a beer chugging redneck at a redneck party to shame, around 0.5liters every 500-750km... After having a cleaning additive work the cylinders for half an hour, oil and filter changed and topped up, it barely wasted any oil over 800km (Id guess around 0,1l) However some days ago on a 400km long trip I had a DPF soot light illuminate on the dash so I downshifted it to 5th gear going ~140kmh, kept it going on high rpms on a highway for around half an hour until it went out. Checked my oil level again today and it went significantly down smh.... My mechanic claims "higher" oil consumption wont do much IF ANY significant damage to the engine only to my wallet for buying gallons of oil but I am taking it with a pinch of salt smh..... Also I was thinking maybe my piston rings went bad so I was thinking to replace those, but I found a guy irl who had the same car same problems, did just that, paid a fortune and problem didnt go away, so Id guess we vRS owners are cursed with this fate, maybe? :') Maybe also check if the DPF filter needs cleaning maybe that causes over consumption? Idk

Octavia RS fuel consumption question (TDI)
Thank you all for the replies and tips! Yeah, after a lot of driving around in various ddriving styles turns out my fuel consumption is at a considered as normal rate and I was just paranoid. However now another problem arised; my motor oil consumption is crazy. Had an oil and filter change 3000km ago and already had a Check Oil warning TWICE. Borh times dipstick had barely any oil on it so indeed it was empty. By topping up and driving for almost 1000km more during 2 weeks time, oil is almost gone again, and have came to the result that my car is losing about 0.1l / 100km or 150km. Thats wild if you ask me. Car manual says 0.5l / 1000km is "normal" and even that sounds wild to me, while mine wastes even more hhaha... It is not leaking underneath the car so my amateur guess would be either DPF problems (worth noting that my engine idles @ 1000rpm very commonly and fan almost always spins loudly after shutting off the car) or, God forbid, cylinder issues or piston rings issues (Ive heard these engines are notorious for having those go byebye)... I will contact my mechanic next week so Ill see... Tnx

1.2 TSI 110HP - Check oil level warning
Yes I checked it about 15 minutes after stopping the engine, so Id say it was still close a bit low than 90ยฐC. I had a 100km drive so Id say it was quite warm before stopping the engine. And yea its a TDI. I know this might be out of topic since thread started with TSI and I apologize but yea ๐

1.2 TSI 110HP - Check oil level warning
Just checked, apparently 0,5 liters went out, but its still in the OK zone on dipstick, I could just refill it for that amount... I thought it was drained way more so it had me shook haha... Its a vRS also and I heard rumors those engines chug oil so it worried me at first

1.2 TSI 110HP - Check oil level warning
I had a service 1700km ago on my 2.0 TDI and just had an oil warning pop up... ๐ฅฒ Will see when it cools down

Noise turning left
I have a same issue with my 2016 RS, slowly rolling into a parking lot in 1st or 2nd gear, as soon as I start turning left there is this "slurping through a straw out of an empty cup" type of noise (idk how else to describe it lol) that goes out as soon as I start to level off the car. Right turn generates no sound at all. One of my mechanics said he doesnt have a clue what it could be, the other said that sound is normal(???) for these vw group cars...๐คจ I think I might take the car to the official dealership service point so they take a look, also thanks ya'll for mentioning these gearbox mounts Ill definetley ask them if that could be the cause... The car drives normally and totally fine but this sound is REALLY bugging the heck out of me...

Octavia RS fuel consumption question (TDI)
Heya! So a month ago I bought a used RS mk3, very decent car! I just have a noobish question regarding fuel consumption so here it goes (I might sound stupid but eh god help me); my average fuel consumption since start usually tops up at around 7.3-8.3l per 100km (car is manual so it really depends on how I ride obviously). I am just worried at the times I go from a standstill into 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd and so on, those early gears I get crazy temporary fuel consumptions up to 40l per km until I speed up, then it gets normal to 7ish L per 100km. Overall I noticed that my fuel goes out quite a lot faster on the dials than my last car, altho my last car was a 1.9tdi 74kw passat with 17L more in its tank which is I understand TOTALLY uncomparable to this so I just might be trippin' heavily... But still, I wanna ask is this normal?? xD Normally I shift up gears at around 1600 to 2000rpm so Id say I am not really giving the engine that much of a work for it to chug diedel like that... But then again, its a RS so yeah... Any thoughts from more experienced RS drivers? Might've just answered my own question but still, its kinda bugging me quite a bit... Thanks!
