VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
My salesman's referred it to servicing this morning so I'll know soon enough. I might just win the sympathy vote, given that it's only been driveable for six out of 10 days since purchase. This is because of some random scummer who punched in my driver door glass a few days ago - it's a traditional form of greeting in the area where I live - and Autoglass cannot do me until next week. Hey ho.

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
That's disappointing. Only bought it 10 days ago and if I had done a hands and knees check and found it, I daresay some adjustment could have been agreed with the sale hanging on it. But I sort of assumed that Skoda's Approved Used label meant that there was no need for a "CSI" approach. Let's see what the dealer comes back with...watch this space😬

Fixing door seal
Hi - I'm browsing seal-related posts and read yours with interest, after discovering this eyebrow raising situation on my 10-days-owned 21-plate Approved Used Scala. It's at the bottom of the driver's side inner door seal. I only found it while vakking broken glass that was left after some scummer punched in my driver doorglass some time on day six of my ownership (nothing inside to take, and no entry achieved due to deadlocked door). I've messaged the dealer and hoping they will step up to rectify it. God knows what it will cost otherwise. I cannot for the life of me think how it has happened, given the position. An exciting 10 days, all things considered - Autoglass cannot repair the glass until next Tuesday....ðŸ˜

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
Ah, right. It's Approved Used with 12 months warranty - do you think that it would be covered?

VRS Door Sill Protector - Manufacturing Fault
This might seem a bit of a random post, but I just discovered this (pics) in the hidden part of the driver's door seal in my otherwise lovely, newly purchased 21 plate Scala. The split is about six inches long and I cannot for the life of me imagine what has happened to cause it. I had been following the sill plates thread in case anyone had had a similar experience. ( I don't have sill plates, I should say, for clarity.) Would welcome any thoughts on how to proceed.

Er...cancel that suggestion - a quick survey of the topic on Briskoda suggests that I would be letting myself in for a whole heap of needless hassle. I am going to stay with the Bolero. It's perfectly fine for my needs.

Collected wisdom of Briskoda, your attention please. I have had my 21-plate Scala SE TSi precisely 8 days and the driver's window is awaiting repair after a scummer smashed it overnight, yet already I have INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM ENVY!! I fancy an Amundsen to replace the Bolero it came with. Can it be done? I am very handy with a screwdriver, a spudger and multi-connector plugs, have built loads of desktop computers from components over the years and I now have plenty of time on my hands. What do we think?

So Scala owners, what do you think to your car ?
Six-speed manual here too. Always been a stick shifter. Like to feel I'm driving it, and not just pointing it in the direction of travel. The Scala gear box reminds me of my predecessor vehicle, a VW Jetta. The gears are tightly packed and smooth with minimal movement needed between each one. In fact, the Scala SE trim felt very familiar when I strapped in for combat last week and it reminded me of the Jetta all round. Everything was where I was used to finding it - from the ventilation to the window controls, from the multi-function steering wheel to the lighting, seat controls, storage, and all the rest. Much quieter engine than my diesel, of course, meaning it was a much more church-like experience on the motorway. Win-win!

Thanks. Things have taken a turn for the better - I reluctantly rang Autoglass because I could not find anyone willing to quote. I was all set to cough up the aforementioned £644, but the very helpful advisor went through the details of my insurance policy and confirmed that it was so comprehensive that I was covered for everything including an asteroid hitting the earth and wiping out a large chunk of the population. The result is that I shall have to pay only £117 excess, with my NCD undented. They can't do me until next Tuesday but I can live with that. Thus cheered, I spent the day working on the glass dust and made some progress. Bigger chunks are still turning up EVERYWHERE - in the boot, in the rails of the passenger seat, in the rear door-bins, between every piece of rubber and plastic. I even got on the floor and started teasing chunks out through the driver door drain holes. All this will mean the Autoglass repair person can concentrate on the important bit of the job. I'll take the opportunity to give the inside panel a good clean once it is off, because the torrential rain, sluicing down from the trees above, sent a Niagara Falls of crap into my car.

So Scala owners, what do you think to your car ?
Newby here - collected my 21 plate, low mileage, Approved Plus Scala 1.5 TSi SE last Tuesday and I absolutely love it. But last night some scumbag smashed the driver side window while it was parked on a public street (I have no driveway or garage). Nothing was taken - the vermin responsible didn't even open the empty glove box because the deadlock system prevented the doors being opened. The car next to mine was popped also, but it clearly had been entered and thoroughly gone through. I don't know if forum rules allow it, but if so I would be glad to have repairer recommendations in the Greater Manchester area. Paying for it myself, but Autoglass quoted me £644 including VAT which seems an insane price. The photo, by the way, is the driver's window in its newly deconstructed form (The shredded paper is unconnected, however.) It went bloody EVERYWHERE. They are only the visible bits of the window - there is a CLOUD of glass dust covering every damn thing in the front and back of the car and I have at least another day's work ahead, doing a fine detail vacuum to remove this from every seam, crease, surface, control knob and crevice, trying at the same time not to cut myself, nor scour the plastic surfaces. God only knows how much is still sitting inside the bottom of the door. I feel gutted. The car, however, is sweet as a nut. Covered 600 miles over the weekend, before the window attack, and the Scala's 1.5 TSi engine has got poke to spare when overtaking on the motorway. It glided up from 70 to 90 effortlessly. Thanks in advance for any repairer suggestions.
