  1. As far as I'm aware my 4.5FE doesn't have a hardcopy bit of anything. Everything is online - either from the infotainment screen in the car or via the app.
  2. Where did this come from? The last time I looked it was version 1985 and I can’t recollect being told about an over the air update since it went from 1969 to 1985. Would this have anything to do with the recent spate of failing to start issues?
  3. I've hit this a few times when trying to view the manual from the app. It really is a pain that there's no physical copy of the manual available.
  4. I, too, got caught by the car not starting on Saturday. It had worked fine several times that morning but I then nipped into a shop and while the ignition lit up the starter didn't kick in. I tried checking the manual but it failed to come up online but I was able to phone Skoda. They responded by offering me an AA person in an hour or a VAG techie in 2 hours. As I needed the car urgently I went for the AA man but they called me and said the VAG man was on his way. I went for a coffee, then back to the car, unlocked it and - you've guessed- it started. I called Skoda to cancel the call and they were very surprised. I then checked the forum and it was stuffed too. I'm beginning to feel they're after me! Do you think the fix will be over the air when it happens or should I book it into the dealer?
  5. Would you like to offer your services to Skoda to write the next edition of the handbook? That is totally understandable- and has made me realise I've been pressing the wrong button for 4 months now! It's impossible to identify which P button is which from the photos in the book. Thanks very much.
  6. I rather think the last couple of comments refer to the older technology Skoda DSGs. My car is a 2024 post Facelift model where the selector just allows the options of R, N or D/S. There is no P for Park mode. When finishing driving I press the 'P' button that applies the handbrake. I want to be able to leave my car for a couple of weeks WITHOUT the brakes on.
  7. If you disable auto hold does that still lock the transmission? The manual implies the car is free to move.
  8. Thanks guys. Is this an undocumented feature or is it buried somewhere in the manual?
  9. I returned from 3 weeks holiday in January to find that the brake pads on my SEL 150 DSG had locked on to the disks. Fortunately they unstuck after rocking back and forward a couple of times. Driving it, there was a grinding noise that quickly improved to only happening when applying the brakes. After a fortnight and 350 miles it now settles to a quick grind every revolution of the left back wheel when the brakes are applied, either by me or ACC. Previous cars I've had have had the same problem which I've averted by leaving the car in gear (or P for auto Skodas) and NOT applying the handbrake. However, this car has fly by wire gear selector that automatically applies the handbrake when I press P. Is it possible to have the gearbox locked without applying the handbrake?
  10. For some reason I thought the front assist cameras were closer to the road. Never thought about it being the windscreen camera. I only start driving once I can see out of the windscreen but maybe the camera lens takes longer to clear- possibly because the hot air from the vents can't get at it.
  11. Sorry I meant the function - maybe it's a virtual switch! The function icon turns green but there's no sign of any heat. I would certainly have expected the reaction you state. Are there really no wires to be seen?
  12. My ex demonstrator post update First Edition claims it has a heated windscreen. However, recent frosty weather makes me doubt this. I have sat for several minutes with the switch on but the first I see of the windscreen clearing is from hot air beginning to come through the vents. Previous Fords I have driven you can see a mesh of wires through the windscreen but there's no sign of that. How quickly should I see it clearing if it's working? The other thing is that when setting off in freezing conditions the cockpit screen lights up with a yellow triangle and the warning "Front Assist not working " or words to that effect. When going into the Assist screen, Front Assist is marked as "Off". However within half a mile the triangle goes out and everything seems to be working. I get the impression one of the sensors is covered in frost but how do I resolve that?
  13. Still find this option works twice, then resets itself. Another gremlin?
  14. Here is my info on a post face-lift demonstrator first registered 18th June and bought by me from a dealer on 18th September. Foolishly i didn'trecordthe software level when i got it but im pretty sure it was 1969. It looks as though the navigation database has been updated, presumably OTA, but I can't remember being asked to approve it. Where has 2460 come from?
  15. Managed to find the setting and turned it on. Worked fine twice, then stopped. Tried to go back in to change it but doesn't get to the Kessy screen pressing the <opening and closing> just changes from green to white! Next day I'm able to get in and turn "Open luggage compartment cover automatically" back on. Works twice, then - you've guessed - back round the houses again! Anyone else got that issue?
  16. That's interesting. You're the second person to talk about a 'right arrow' and I'm the second person to not be able to find that option. I wonder if it depends on which structure you select. I went for the 'classic' look - rev counter to left and speedo to right. Maybe I should try more experimentation
  17. On my Karoq with Powered tailgate I used a strap on bike rack to transport my e-bike. It worked perfectly once I'd learnt to disable automatic braking while reversing. Obviously I never tried opening the tailgate while it was attached. Does anyone know if I can use this with my 2024 FE Estate? I spotted something in the manual that said a bike rack shouldn't be attached but I haven't been able to believe a word in the manual when I've been trying to find how to do something so I'm prepared to ignore that.
  18. Visited the dealer who passed me to the 14 year old who understands these things. He thinks the configuration screen isn't available on UK spec cars. Unfortunately Skoda/VW have also decided only nerds need to see what gear you're in in a DSG. Not sure about that!
  19. Setting up my new to me ex demonstrator and being driven mad by the useless manual. I'm trying to change the display in the middle of the round dials and the video tells me that if you press the right scroll knob until you highlight the dial then rotate it it comes up with a configuration screen. Well, it doesn't. It scrolls through car data, telephone data, route Data then back to car data again. How do I dump route data and get something else in? Chris

Hi I've just bought my third Skoda having put my Karoq in for a 4 year service and walked out having agreed to trade it for an ex demonstrator Octavia IV. Boy, cars have got more complicated since I last bought one. The useless user manual has led me to Google all my questions and it's remarkable how often this forum came up. Seems a nice polite forum - let's see how long that lasts once I start asking stupid questions!
