  1. Any ideas for this engine knock, I have a few ideas, some worse than others 😂 215k miles on the engine, religiously serviced. I'm hopeful it's an injector seal that's gone, so a new seal set, copper washer and bolt will fix it. What do you think?
  2. I'll update this soon, in the meantime I'm also logging progress on Instagram: Skoda.Scout on Instagram
  3. Process of elimination, first job is to replace the crankshaft position sensor and see what result that gives you.
  4. So your friend has randomly messed around with the cars coding and it now won't start unless you use easy-start? Once it's running will it run and drive as normal until the ignition is cycled and then it won't start again? When it won't start, what exactly is it doing?
  5. Depending on the water table/soil type you could just end up with a very cold bath! I despise working in a pit and would take any form of lift over doing that.
  6. Having used both, I'm saving for a 2 post. 4 post is much safer/idiot proof but harder to do suspension work.
  7. There's not many parts worth the expense of replacing unless there's an issue as it's not a difficult car to get apart in general. At 140k though the gearbox mount is likely knackered (£35 Autodoc and new stretch bolts from the dealer £25). New oil for the gearbox and angle box if you haven't replaced it recently. Slave cylinder worth it so it doesn't contaminate the new clutch/dmf. Usual general check over as you go and I like to have a spray bottle of lanoguard or similar to touch up any areas that are showing corrosion. Don't forget to recalibrate the gearbox linkage when you're done to keep the best gear changes.
  8. M14 spline bit for caliper carrier is the one that comes to mind (Octavia but probably similar)
  9. Yes. Anything with friction material/constant moving parts I would replace twice as frequently - engine/gearbox/haldex and less so parts that are at rest when stationary - diffs/angle boxes etc. If budget is less of a concern, then just half every service interval - it can only ever benefit the vehicle.
  10. Yes, stopping and starting is where all the wear happens. This is why a higher mileage motorway beater is a better buy than a lower mileage town runaround 👍
  11. This is what I've been able to find so far. It doesn't appear I can edit the first post, so adding the details below: Engine oil - Quantum Cube 5w-30 4.3 litres Gearbox - 02Q KDL - 75w90 2.3l – G052171A2 ??? Power transfer unit Transfer Case / Angle Box - 0.9l – Same oil as rear diff ??? Rear diff - 0.9l – G052145S2 ??? Haldex - 0.8 litres specific haldex oil If anyone can confirm either way I'd appreciate it. I'll update this as I find anymore information.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm looking at changing all the power train fluids in my newly acquired Scout. Does anyone have the volumes and specification of the fluids required? Engine oil - Quantum Cube 5w-30 4.3 litres Gearbox Power transfer unit Rear diff Haldex - 0.8 litres specific haldex oil Am I missing anything? Cheers, GB
  13. Thank you very much @Carlston just what I needed!

  15. Life changes forced a change in vehicle and I was very kindly offered an Octavia Scout - as it happens one whose previous owner once frequented these forums. @nidgep spared no expense in looking after this Scout - as evidenced by the awesome folder full of receipts - and I will be continuing to do so moving forwards.
