I am a bit of a tool hoarder,
Likewise, I have a full set of 'Whitworth' sockets and spanners, what the hell do I need them for.

Just enter "12" ADJUSTABLE OIL FILTER PLIERS" into ebay.co.uk
Been using this tool for many years, it's never let me down yet and at 4GBP post free you cant go wrong.
I always use Mahle filters, they have that lovely hexagon nut on the end.

Oh how i miss the days of Mkw2 Escorts with 4 Cibie Super Oscars up front.
None of yer xenon crap for us in those days
That's going back a bit! I had replacement Cibie headlamps on my 65 Mk1 Cortina, they were awesome.

No way would I ever touch a Fabia again, I am not and never have been a speed merchant, so have reverted to a Vauxhall 1.6 Astra, sheer luxury after the Fabia jam jar.

There are two drain holes, take the rubber surrounds out from the bulkhead and throw them away. No more bloked plenum chamber.
-
I have part number 03D 906 051A MAP sensor. Brand new and genuine Skoda still in box. Going for a song. PM me if you need.

DONT disconnect the wiring plug, leads to other problems,
PM me if you want the gaskets, I have several of them.

Exactly same thing with the Fabia I had, the previouse owner ditched it because of re-occuring engine warning lights.
I got fed up with "Living with it" so got rid of the car.

Buy something other than a Fabia
-
Did you unplug the electrical connector to the throttle body to take it off and clean it, if so this could be your problem.

My mates have said if ive had this much trouble with VW I should forget them altogether and go back to Vauxhall. My 1st car was a Mk3 Astra 1.4, N reg and I didn't have half the problems that my Polo has. My dad had it before me with 8k on the clock and didn't have a problem with it. I got rid of it at 120k wanting something newer, more solid and reliable. How wrong I was :(
I bought the car before becoming a member here. If id have just searched for the engine code id have never bought it.
I have done just that, just got rid of mine as I was fed up with bad response from the throttle and numerouse stupid fault codes being thrown up, very irratic idling on tick over. The very bad design of doors letting in water and other design faults. Put me off Skoda's for ever
Gone back to 'A Proper Car' A Vauxhall Astra

My Fabia has been re-gassed and it's still rubbish, one previous car I had, a Hyundi, the A/C when on was like the interior of a deep freeze.

Martyn,
if you want an exciting route in this area, try the Abergwesyn Pass from the west coast side,
The last time I used this road I was forced off the road by a drunken lunatic in a 4X4 from Tregarron, What he didnt know was I had a policeman in the car with me.

Sold the damn thing for a proper car, an Astra 1.6 Twinport,

Here in East Anglia everything is covered in sand blown in from the Sahara.

Morris 1800 with Hydrolastic suspension

thanks for that, saved me a call to the stealers! Mines held up with gaffer tape at the mo after I snapped the winder mechanism's cable (looooooong story)
My window fell out on Dartmoor during a howling gale, since then I always carry a rubber door stop in the boot,

Not 100% but think you can clear the codes if you go into select control module, then engine etc. The clear all codes on the auto scan page doesn't work, even for the paid shareware version of VCDS.
A great pity Skodas do not have the Vauxhall "Two Pedal Trick" that clears all fault codes.

Just been offered £2,750 part exchange for my 2006 Fabia Elegance, 1.4 16v with 42,000 on the clock against a new Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec at a main Ford dealer.

Extremely pleased with the parts department, I reside in Essex so I order my parts via the internet. Very quick in replying to my e-mails and kept me informed at all times. Genuine Skoda parts from Dennis Horton are always cheaper than other dealers. Top Marks!

Any decent model shop will sell it. Also Amazon.co.uk

Don't use 'Plumbers Mate' it's useless, Use 'Milliput' it even sets under water. Been using it for 20 years now and it's never let me down yet.
What did/would you get after the VRS?

Well I did chop the Fabia in for an Astra 1.6 Twinport and glad I did, it shows up the many design faults associated with the Fabia.
The ride in a Fabia is akin to being in a bath tub on a high sea whilst the Astra is similar to riding in a limo.
Above all, mine returns 58 MPG and that includes driving round the M25 on a Friday night.
