A fault code would help.
I get the engine management light come on at least once a week, in fact I am tired of clearing it.
Always the same code P1142, Going back to a Ford when I can find the right car.
-
It tells you in the handbook.

Like Mr Grr I travelled from Essex to Norwich to get the right car, right colour and at a right price.
Just my own personel opion, I would go for an Astra. My sons has 60,100 on the clock and runs like a dream.

I had same problem, WD40 was useless, tried genuine Plus Gas and presto! nuts came off easy.

Thanks for replies.

Definately bolted to centre consul tunnel, seems there are four options of stalks fitted to the Fabia.
-
Wow! that was quick Babs
-
Insert key into ingnition and switch on.
What normally happens is that you get an audible warning that you have not put the seat belt clip into the stalk.
How does the stalk comminicate with the vehicle electrics to let you know that the belt clip has not been put into the stalk? This is a constant question I ponder on.
The Haynes book of fables states the stalk is bolted to the drivers seat, not so! it's bolted to the centre consul tunnel.

Tried several makes of LED's and some only lasted a few weeks.
I now have Philips Vision 4000k T10 LED's which give a pure white light.
They don't come cheap but have been in use for over a year now.
Can be fitted either way round and do not trip a warning light.
One set I had on a Octy failed the MOT for being having a blue tinge.

Sounds like an urban legend.
A road is very much a public place, and you can take photos of who and what you like in a public place
Try living in my corner of Essex where photography is banned within the town centre.

Not very impressed with Rainworth. Ordered some parts, paid for them, since then no communication or parts.
Not the way to do business in my book. Will go elsewhwere in future.

My GPS consistantly shows around six miles an hour below that of the speedo.

My one is akin to sittng in a bath tub on a high sea. Traversing roundabouts is awesome.

I for one feel that for the effort and expenditure, spent on this irrelevant item, it could have been more usefully directed towards many of the other problems which are endemic in the company products.
Words well said.

You can get a ready made box all ready to go from www.buybits.com if you dont want to go to all this trouble.

My solution was to open up the fag lighter plug and take out the printed circuit board.
I bought a small "Project Box" from Maplins.
Unsolder the 12v curled input lead to the PC board and then solder two wires in it's place.
One wire to earth, the other will be live.
Open up the fuse box cover on the side of the dashboard and the small project box will fit neatly above the fuses.
For the live input wire:- I then drilled a 1.5mm hole through a blade on the plastic part of one of the fuses, a blob of solder to hold.
I then fed the sat/nav lead up the side of the dashboard to the windscreen.
What ever you do, do not cut the lead going to the sat/nav as it is a coaxial lead just like a television aerial lead
Somewher on the Yetti forum there are photo's from a member showing you how to do it.

This week Lidl are selling a car boot storage container in dark grey fabric for around 7 GBH, comes with compartments and Velcro strip to attache to the back of the rear seats.
-
Having sold and changed more tyres than I care to remember, it must run into several thousands, new ones always on the front, but as other members have stated the latest thoughts seem to be to put them on the rear.
I still opt to put them on the front as a front tyre blow-out at speed isn't at all funny.
-
Lets face it, do you really need all this aggro? scrap it.
-
A bad choice when I bought a Fabia, wish I had kept the Octy, a far superior car.

I was really hoping for an update etc from the opening poster of this thread, he is still around - just looked and saw that he was on this site today!
Yes I am still around and following this topic with great interest.
I feel I should take the car to a Skoda dealer as it's still under warranty but the nearest dealer is some 25 miles away.
Keep up the good work, and many thanks for all the tips.

I would put this in the Fabia I forum if i was you, you stand more chance of getting a reply.

One advantage of being an OAP is Full Comp insurance from Liverpool Vic. for 240 GBP.
The dreaded console bushes... again

A long and lenghty topic on the Octy forum some time back was the use of copper grease on mating surfaces between Steel and Ally.
Using copper grease is an absolute 'no go' and is known to cause an acid reaction to the Ally causing corrosion.
Do a search to find what copper grease is made of, you will be surprised at the result.
I have banned it from my tool box.
