  1. On this topic. I had the same issue, and did the restoration as described. Did not work. I measured the circuit with a multimeter and concluded that the button operated as it should, but still not reaction from the car. Concluded it must be something else. The car finally got towed to the workshop. As ignition didn't work they weren't able to read any diagnostics. After some extensive trouble shooting it turned out that the control board, responsible for authorisation and transfer the signal from ignition button, was broken.
  2. Would be lovely if someone had a table showing the latest available software for each model year. Or do they work on all Mk3s?
  3. Ok. Old topic, but the issue seems to remain active. I have this issue now. But it seems not to be the button. Anyone who knows what can be the next step in trouble shooting? My button has occasionally required one extra push for react. I never spend that much worrying about it. But now it's completely dead. No reaction. Other kessy features (locking/unlocking the car) works, interior and exterior lightning works, heater works, radio works. But nothing in the gauge cluster, other than trip count/clock/indication on open doors, lights up. I removed the button, cleaned it, and measured continuity, before putting it back. But nothing. Still no reaction when pushed. The LED in the button do work though, always did.
