I have replaced the battery as the resting voltage was hovering just under 12.5 and it is 5½ years old so not at its best. Travelled several hundreds of miles towing since and problem <so far> has not reappeared.

That guide is excellent with one exception. My VCDS wouldn't accept the date in the format shown. It was happy though if I entered the date without the dashes and left a space instead.

I have bought this battery. What do I use as a serial number?

I wondering if the extra load of the caravan electrics on top of a failing battery may have something to do with this as driving 100 or so miles, without the caravan, since clearing the faults, nothing has re-occurred.

Battery fully charged Saturday 8th May. Didn't check the voltage after charging. Ctec charger until green light lit up.
After a 20 mile run in two stages of 10 miles out, 2 hours off, and 10 miles back, on Sunday, tested battery today and it reads 12.4 volts. Battery is over 5 years old is it failing?

The lighting fault codes I ignore as there is nowt wrong with the lights and never has been. Funny that it has disappeared now though.

I have cleared all the faults and been for a short test drive. Another auto scan showed all controllers "no faults found."
I'm not unduly bothered about the heated steering wheel fault as it is an old one and the heated steering wheel gets warm when I want it to and, to me. that is all I am looking for. Don't pretend to understand the mis-fire and Westgate stuck open stuck closed though.
This is the first time I have done an auto scan since I did the tweaks in my signature and it is the first time I have seen my auto scan with no faults showing.

What ever mk they are is a reversing camera an option or standard as the brochure makes no mention of it for an Octavia?

I do intend to do this but haven't used my cable for about 4 years so 1 - I can't find it and 2 - when I do find it it will probably need updating so I haven't got round to it yet which is why I posted. Is a weak battery a likely cause do you think?

Tow bar ordered as a factory fitted option when car was ordered, by me, in 2017.
The figures I quoted were for the cam belt replacement.
Spark plugs replaced as per Skoda servicing schedule.

Building my next Octavia on the Skode configurator I can't find any reference to a reversing camera as a standard fitting, optional fitting or as an option in the current brochures. Do 2023 Octavias have the option or is it standard?
I see front and rear parking assists and manœuvre assists is this the reversing camera?

So there I was 10 minutes/5 miles into a 50 mile journey towing my caravan with my Octavia 1.5TSi ACT DSG when up pops the EPG warning light and "Engine Limited to 4000 revs. The caravan had to get to where I was going and the car was still moving so I carried on at a fairly sedate 40mph or 50ish if I pushed it in Sports mode only S4 though wouldn't change up unless going down hill. Everything very sluggish, acceleration, gear changes, start stop error, unable to achieve ACC speed settings.
Got to my destination to drop off my caravan for warranty work and, about an hour later, fired up the car. No sign of EPG light, car behaving normally and home, minus caravan, with no problems.
Is it likely a failing battery could have caused this as, since the pandemic, the car has had a lot less use and I have been charging the battery fortnightly with an eTec charger? I hadn't charged the battery for about 6 weeks recently though as inclement weather stopped me when I should have been doing it, but have made several short journeys. I am thinking that if the battery is quite discharged but managed to start the car OK perhaps the additional load of the caravan electrics was just to much for it. The battery was new, with the car, in November 2017
Any thoughts anyone.

I think the best part of 50 quid is ever so slightly more than I am prepared to pay for a couple of small pieces of plastic.
The button is still pushable without its red top and duck tape can keep the lock clean.

This is very useful thanks. It looks like I need 33 as I assume 34 is the lock. Unless the cover comes with 34 and the push button comes with 33 of course.
May I ask where this diagram comes from and/or can you post a link or PM me a link to it?

It is a factory fitted, in November 2017.

Hi folks. Upon removing the hook from the tow bar today I find that the top of the push button and consequently the lock cover have fallen off during the journey. Can anyone shed any light on where replacements can be found. I think the tow bar is a Westfalia but am not sure and there is nothing like it on their website.

As the title says.
Nearside front parking sensor sounding randomly on movement of steering wheel.
Any ideas why?
My 2017 1.5TSi ACT DSG hatchback.
Happened when outside temp was -4.5 C if that has any relevance. Possible ice in on or around the sensor. Nothing visible outside.

Having said what I said above at the end of the installation Columbus always tells me that the update has failed. I remove the SD Card and check the version information and it is always the updated version.

It may be of some interest that if you are downloading the maps from the Skoda portal ,on a Windows machine then you don't need 7 Zip to extract the files to your SD Card. Windows native zip file extractor does the job very well. Just right click the file and select extract to....
Personally I always use a 128GB SDXC Card, the only time this has failed me is when I downloaded from sites other then the Skoda portal.

Agree that the Octavia tows beautifully and as to hardly noticing it is there yes - in a way because you can't mistake what's in the rear view mirror - but little twitching when larger vehicles pass and hills seem effortless to the Octavia

i replaced this exact EFB battery on my 2017 Octavia within the last few weeks. The Octavia I had before my current model had an AGM battery. I imagine the EFB battery is now fitted as a cheaper alternative. The battery I fitted was an AGM and I have VCDS so updated the battery information using the guide above. I can recommend it except VCDS wouldn't accept the serial number in the way illustrated. I removed the "/" in the date and left spaces and VCDS was happy.
