  1. Hi , Should DOT 5 be used on road cars ?
  2. Hi , when I purchased my Skoda Superb I received a confirmation a week or so letter confirming that I purchased a Skoda Approved car. I would have reported the issue to Trading standards about your car condition on collection.( Assuming Trading standards is in Scotland or equivalent ) plus Skoda UK
  3. Hi , if it was my car I would ask the shop to change the engine oil to the correct specification or get your money back and go to a VW group specialist.
  4. Hi , From my understanding ( in my case the car has the 1.5Tsi DADA that requires the special VW electronic tool that cost £3000.00 ) to the job correctly.
  5. Hi Colin1051 , I have to eat my words , you are correct regarding ACC. I assumed incorrectly as EU produced cars had to use ACC UK cars would require them.
  6. Hi , When I first had the Superb on motorway I used the ACC all of the time. However , as time goes by I found the ACC dangerous because with so many variables as to how the cars interpretation of vehicles in close location to the action then taken by my car. From my understanding all new model cars now have to have these mandatory safety devices installed.
  7. Hi , now if the car had been a manual I could understand the murdering but I have a Superb with the same engine / gear box combination. My car very occasionally juders on full lock going forward when I enter my drive.I believe the cause 5could by that the engine does not have much torque this the problem. I run the car on 99 octane Esso and now never had a problem. I had demonstration of two examples of my car and the car I did not purchase was flat as a pancake and my example goes like the wind. Please don't be tempted to go back and have another look !!
  8. Hi , Reading my post again I understand what you are saying but what do you do if the parts you requested by the preferred supplier are not available.
  9. Hi , if it was my car I would have the car serviced as you know exactly where you are regarding service history. When I put hased my car the service was " variable" but the car had the oil changed annually , the cars annual mileage was 5500.I had the car service package adjusted to " annual " My car was Skoda approved and I received all the correct paper work on collection of the car. ( Including service ) Main concern was to the engine oil they used to fill the engine , it was Castol 0-20W as recommended by by Skoda. ( I think your car has a diesel engine ) My real annoyance was that the tyres although premium where different manufacturers and different thread depth. I had four new Michelin's fitted. Al though I cannot substantiate my next comment I believe that it does not help that cars with electronic driving aids can behave strangely with different tyres.
  10. Hi , if you believe the supply chain position parts difficult to obtain so in some cases but not all your lucky to obtain any parts for your car.
  11. I am not sure if it's still the case but West Mercia / West Midlands police use to test brake fluid in cars to check the condition of the break fluid. A garage can test the condition of the break fluid with a simple test.
  12. Hi penpusher , have you experienced any add blue issues with your diesel car. When I had a Mercedes on some of the forums and blue issues were a hot topic ( expensive to repair )
  13. Hi , on the motorway at 70 mph it will average 50 mpg but has occasionally achieved 54mpg. If you go for a diesel check issues with ad blue.
  14. Hi , a friend of mine has the Superb 2.0 litre diesel estate car and I have the 1.5 petrol hatch. Every time my mate gets into my car he comments how much quiter my car is. His other gripe that his car runs on 19" wheels with Michelin PS4s and he does like the ride compared with mine with 18" wheels shod again with Michelin Primary 4 + tyres. How reliable is the add blue system ( diesel )Skoda use on there line up
  15. Hi skomaz , Are you sure about your statement regarding engine specification ?
  16. Hi , no I knew the pads discs need changing as I was going on a long trip ( for me ).The Skoda technician said they would last for a couple of thousand more miles. Sorry I did not make it clear but my mate took his Superb to a specialist garage in Worcester. No idea as to the make parts used by the specialist garage but they do have a very good reputation.
  17. Hi , I have a 2019 Skoda Superb 1.5 Tsi and the first change of discs and pads occured at 33,000 miles. The car has now covered 40,000 miles and all good. All components manufactured by VW ( came of of VW box ) However , a friend of mine has a small of fleet Skoda cars and his 2016 use to eat discs and pads for fun.7000 miles on the last set and he was told that that's the life of a typical life expectancy of that component. Drove straight round to a well respected independent VW specialist who fitted a complete set of pads and discs and he is really happy with the results.
