  3. YIPPEEEE, IT'S BACK, The BRISKODA trip to Prague

If you want to join the official Meet it starts at Dover Ferry Port in the early hours of Thursday 13th Sept and Finishes at Dover again for about midnight Thursday 20th/Friday 21st. (so make sure you book that time off work emoticon-0148-yes.gif ) To Include the Nurburgring we have extended the trip by 2 nights so getting a ferry back to UK on Saturday 22nd September

I have just booked the hotel room for me and Paige, and everyone should all book the same hotel.

http://www.hotelolsanka.cz/?locale=en - looks like a proper communist block hotel, but seems quite nice inside.

I recommend you find a group of 4 of you and booking a 4 Bedroom option, which is 2 Double Bed rooms sharing a bathroom and Toilet.

If you are also driving you can park in the secure underground carpark for £10.80 per car per night

The 4 bed option plus parking 1 one car for the 7 nights Arrive 13th Sept and Leave 20th Sept costed £400, prices may change if you dont book early emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

Oh yeah it has a Bar and Tram Stop right outside emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

    Ferry details:

    http://www.norfolkline.com/ferry/

Depart: DOVER to DUNKERQUE 13/09/12 02:00 am BST

Return: DUNKERQUE to DOVER 22/09/12 20:01 pm Euro Timezone (i think)

and it only cost me £55

(I will update the first post as I gain more details)

  4. The Hotel I have in mind is very nice, with secure parking and will cost about £50 per night for a double room.

There is also 1 single room and also a 4 bed room, with a double bed and a bunk bed.

If you are driving your own car you will have first choice of room and anyone who doesn't stay the whole trip or wimps out and flys, may need to book a hotel near. :p

One good thing about flying is you can get a double room for about £10 cheaper at 1 of the skanky hotels near by.

Otherwise if this does get v popular, would people be willing to pay about £80 per night for a double bed room with 24 hour secure parking and a Tram stop outside the front door?

  5. 1. Tigger & paige (as she has now booked holiday)

    2. Sharkrider, black & white, Can + softscoop .(mark II fabia vRS)

    3. Gilly & Wibble + 2

    4. Loz + 1 (flying!)

    5. LexVRS + any willing passangers to keep cost down?

    6. vRS Joe + any willing passangers to keep cost down?

Please could everyone keep the list upto date  I have a great Hotel planned but if numbers get too big will need to arrange a nicer one. At the moment we have room for about 17 people in the hotel, and secure parking for about 7-8 briskodian cars (not hire cars :p )

Also I will start arranging the hotel from the 1st March.

  6. I will pop along to this meet, Monthly would be great, as its easy to get to on a Saturday .

Also Cheers too GillyWibble putting us up, so we din't need to worry about the drive back in the Snow :)

And ooo I recon I need to start a dating service :p or is that not public news yet ;) ;)

  7. Just an idea but, not far from the car park at Brean Down is a Fish & Chip shop. Am thinking it would be fun to get some grub from the chippie and then go eat it at Brean Down, either in the car park or at the top of the steps leading up from the car park? We would perhaps be into slightly longer days by then so could be fun.

As I say, nothing more than a mere idea. But it is the fort that counts...........

    Dave

Interesting idea, I wonder if people will walk it from the Caravans :)

Well a few of the energetic few can walk while the rest just stay at the caravans and drink :p

  8. Will,

What is the intended route & rest stops please?

    Which Ferry company and route?

I need to check how realistic it is to travel in convoy with you guys or drive over in our own time and then im free to meet up in Prague and take a couple of days off on my own B)

    Thanks in advance.

Rough calculations so far is the distance for me is 1,520 miles one way so fuel alone for a return trip and 2 or 3 tanks full while im there is going to be almost £1,000 (depending on fuel prices & mpg). Thats calulated at current uk petrol prices and av of 25mpg. £780-£800 will be fuel for the return trip only :o I hope to improve on this (increase mpg up to 30mpg) and hopefully can do the fuel costs and ferry for £1k

P.S. Will PM me if you prefer

A little confused how you calculated your fuel costs, mines a fabia vRS diesel and the last 3 years I been it was about 4 tanks of diesel the whole trip, driving flat out averaging 35 - 45 MPG, tank of fuel at most with vent trick £90. Usually Europe and Cz is cheeper in fuel costs, so for a diesel I would expect about about £300 on fuel if that. Is the petrol cars really that bad?

  9. So far the ideas for a few day trips are:

The Castle they filmed Casino Royale

    long day trip to Poland

    Doksy and Airfield

Prague walkabout and see the sights

    Skoda Factory and prototypes (hopefully)

and a few more ideas, to double check, if others have a few ideas they would like to PM me then please do.

Also for the people driving to Prague, I have planned a mini detour for us all to stop and see the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Caslte, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuschwanstein_Castle,

just gotta work out times etc.

  10. hmmmmmm, been having the same thing recently about 3 times, after a cold start. Stopping and starting the car also appeared to fix it.

The whole car judders under acceleration and affects it more in the higher gears. If you drop the clutch mine dissappears.

Had a read of the Haynes manual and it made out an injecter blockage could cause it.

Car is due an inspection service, and pondered what I may have forgotten to check last time.

Next time it happens I plan to check the exhaust note on idle to see if I can spot a miss-fire. Anyway, gonna keep an eye on this thread.

  11. I haven't forgotten you all, I have a few plans building.

Hopefully I will get us a nice hotel with enough parking (fingers crossed).

Anyway lets start a list for everyone who has already booked the time off work.

You will wanna give yourself Wednesday Night on the 12th as Ferry plan is for early Thursday (13th) Morning and then getting the Midnight Thursday 20th / Friday 21st Ferry back the week later.

    1. Tigger (only me at the moment as Paige has not booked hers yet)
