  1. no its completely standard. but i wondered if the dv might be a little flaky

well today I tried driving the car slightly differently today' date=' ie: gave it a little bit more revs before changing up, and didnt get the problem at all... maybe I am just being too lazy with the flexible engine. I dunno... sometimes its so subtle I think I am beginning to go mad, but other times not subtle enough for me to ignore!

The trouble is if I can't reproduce it everytime, and there are no warning lights, and potentially no fault codes, coaxing the dealer into doing something about it could be tricky![/quote']

Im sure its the same problem i have.. sometimes i think im going mad...i think have i lifted ever so slightly off the accelerator? fully open throttle and apply more revs pushes it through the problem like you describe...i too do not have warning lights or fault codes and was given a clean bill of health at its recent service... but if i told some drive this down the road and back they say no problem there... its not there car they dont know what it was before and what its like now... its not a loss of power when you open the throttle there is still loads of power...its at half throttle and pootling when it lumpy and strange feeling... like it being stangled and you need to rev it to give it what it needs to move...

now i know it happens with totaly stock car i can maybe stop blaming the mods ive done FMIC, TIP, etc etc

AAAGGGGHHHHH im treaing my hair out!

  2. Hi All

This may be similar to noodles problem, but seems my acclerator has two postions on and off when ever you you try and use anything in between the car has a tsutter between 2 -3k rpm its not audable but you feel it in your feet and bum and the cars power goes comes back goes comes back like a giant flat spot...like you have lifted your foot of the pedal slightly and put it down again.

after reading noodles thread it got me thinking about throttle body after thinking it was maybe the N75 valve, the body has been cleaned recently...

    Anyother ideas?

  3. also' date=' another question if i can, the suspension seems good in the corners, but acc or braking there is alot of up and down movement, ie, put ya foot down and the rear squats alot, is this normal? handles well though :)

    [/quote']

Perfectly normal... if its throwing the front up and making the back squat are you sure there is problem? are you sure your just getting used to its power?

one surgestion is to maybe invest in boost gauge so you can see when the car is boosting correctly and when it is not..

  4. lol have either of you two been out in a remapped octy... i'll assume you have not thats why you havn't or have no asspiration to do it lol

you wait until you do you wont be able to get it booked in quick enough

i went out in pimpsters like you guys not really seeing the point as i was very happy with standard performance, drove it down the road and back then rang jabba the next day and booked mine in, in turn boyce took mine out after i had it remapped and he then booked his in the next day lol ....you just cannot belive how much of diffrent car it is !

  5. Joel' date=' I suspect that a vRS will be a decent jump in straight line speed compared to my present car (about 120bhp and 1100kg), however I must admit I'm slightly dubious about the handling as I'm used to a very fun go-kart ride. However the main reason I'm thinking of changing cars is I'm beggining to want a bit of comfort and refinement, which unfotunately my car doesn't do so well on. Oh, and more power.

sorry missunderstood your car to be the 2.0 turbo...

in that case i with draw what i said you should be quite happy...with a standard set up

  6. on the topic of 1/4 mile runs standard cars come in around the 15.5 area where as remapped cars 15.2-14.9 not a massive diffrence because the traction problems at the start... your right the octy is a heavy car and most of the power arrives in huge lumps in 3rd and 4th sadly the 1/4 is over at the top of 3rd doing approx 90-95 mph

EDIT after reading your sig: Comming from that rover with the mods done i dont think you will be happy with the vrs unless you remap it and chnage the suspension... add approx £1500 on top the forsale price and you on to a winner mate...

  7. Balls of steel for both parties... so thought the bike was going splat into the side of the green van! then goes a bit crazy to catch up good stuff!

Think the Formula D boys would be happy with the BMW's efforts at driffting..

  8. Common miss conception that a 'sports' exhaust will give you more power there are cases where they have been know to decrease power.... powerflow is one exhaust know for this. basically its to do with the happy go lucky approach, you pick your off the shelf back box, some monkey rips out your old exhaust and welds in new pipe work and takes a sizeable sum of money off you... forgetting the manufactures of the engine has tested possibly hundreds of diffrent exhuats to find the right amount of back pressure etc to suit the engine.. monkey comes along and screws all that up... power loss can occur some times....however if he was to go for a exhuast that again was desgined for the 4x4 by miltek mongoose blitz etc chances are he would have felt a power increase or at least not a power drop...as these would have been developed with a test vehicle

edit: didnt mean that to sound as patronising as it does sorry
