  1. This seems to be quite a common upgrade on the golf 5 GTI (same platform as mk2 octy) whilst fitting the anti-lift bushes, you could also fit the TT front arms for increased negative camber.
  2. the fabia guys remove the silencers,it's called a mufflerectomy and whilst it doesn't sound nice (imo) it is loud
  3. I'm unsure on the TSI engines but i've owned 2 BWA engined octavias (tfsi) and never had any noticeable oil consumption
  4. The bushes won't make a difference, stiffer (thicker) ARB's or stiffer springs should do the job, do you get any adjustments on the shocks?
  5. I had one in my early 20's, that may be a while ago now, it wasn't too expensive for me. I had 3-4 NCB and insurance was around £1000 a year on the tfsi model including a few modifications, eventually sold as i was racking up a lot of miles so went for a diesel fabia. I liked the car so much i've just purchased another
  6. Did you fit 130 injectors and remap? Are you happy with the result?
  7. Can i swap the arms over on the tensioners? The father in law appears to know what hes doing,he doesnt speak much english though. Should i be changing the actual damper too?
  8. Still not sure why the arm on the old tensioner has a hole in it
  9. I think you may be right Tech1e,there does appear to be some sort of push rod where the tensioner lives. This is the new tensioner Old tensioner
  10. Car is 2001 pd100 estate Cambelt tensioner failed last week, got the father in law fitting a new belt and tensioner. New tensioner is 72mm diameter and doesnt have a hole in the tab. Old tensioner is 71mm diameter and does have a hole in the tab. He insists it wont work, but ecp doesnt sell anything else?? Can anyone shed some light on this? Many thanks Alex
  11. Most likely failing console bushes, very common on the fabia, most replace with cupra or poly bushes.
  12. Mines twitchy under hard acceleration or on tram lines/odd camber. Everything has been replaced (hence the nickname Triggers broom) except the steering rack, which i found to be leaking, check your track rod boots for any oil as you could be in the same position as me.
  13. Soz,i forgot pics. I spent the evening taking the door apart to prop the window up with a broom handle, turns out the regulator **** itself, Other than this it drives lovely but will need a new steering rack soon. Coilovers are KW v1,not too stiff for coilovers but still quite hard on my local roads
  14. I hav'nt kept a log but i've fitted vrs brakes, polybushes and coilovers to my estate,i'l get a pic later. Looking for a vrs bumper and wheels, then possibly a pd130 conversion
  15. bit of a PITA but i would check the pas fluid level
  16. Post a pic of the hubs after machining if you can
  17. Where are you based?i have access to a sheet metal work factory
  18. I like mine, would be too soft for serious track use though
  19. I'm doing the rear beam bushes this weekend. Is this the correct tool? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-AUDI-REAR-SUSPENSION-AXLE-BUSH-BUSHING-REMOVER-INSTALL-REPAIR-TOOL-/191540871964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c98b9c31c
  20. Any luck on narrowing down the issue? I've replaced console bushes, shocks, wheel bearings, tyres and had 2 different places do alignment,im ready to give up and scrap it :(
  21. ebay elm327 works in my fabia estate, fiesta tdci, mondeo tdci
  22. ahh thats the side that has a drive shaft stuck in it,im in High Wycombe,Bucks
  23. All hubs are the same, except if the car is orginally equipped with 288mm brakes (vrs,2.0 8v) Which side do you need?i have a pair except n/s has a drive shaft stuck in it
  24. Now imagine a very big turbo + injectors and you stay on his bumper,im sure he will hesitate to tell his mates he couldnt shift a skoda off his tail
