  1. Hi, seen comments on cd changer, how did you get the carpet off ? my rear washer stopped at same time as changer - sounds like i need to get carpet off to get at bolts !

  2. Sunroof wouldn't close fully this morning when i got to work, retracted fully when about 2" from closing, eventually closed it with the manual winder. Went out @ lunch and the thing went haywire, opening & closing all by itself, stopping moving when about 2" open. Pulled fuse 33 ( dealer said this controlled the sunroof ) and it still moved. Anyone advise any other fuse(s) i should remove and / or is there a "reset" function ? :( TIA Karl
  3. Been told by garage that both rear springs cracking & fronts not too far behind. Shocks done 49k so might as well change the lot, priced up stock replacements and no cheaper than APset & i can drop in to normal Octy ride height. Any deals going - even better Any one got * helpful* comments ? Thanks Karl ps North West if deal incl. fitting
  4. This C A N ' T be happening  !!! 10 mins from my front door and i'm away on my hols. We go there every other week to feed the ducks, geese, swans etc. To anyone thinking of the canoing etc. be careful, the water can be FREEZING even on a warm, sunny day as my goddaughter confirmed with screams of shock when doing the eskimo rolls.... Hope you all enjoy K
  5. Haven't got detailed photos / measurements etc. but having swapped to the 50%+osrams in the Fabia and then the Octy when i changed cars, there is greater noticable difference in the Fabia than the Octy. Still well worth doing for the Octavia though. Point to note, if you are also planning to swap to the "all weather" bulbs in the fog lights, go ahead if you have a Fabia, don't bother if you have an Octavia. As the bulbs are next to each other in the latter, the extra brightness from the headlamps seems to overwhelm the "yellowness" of the fogs. They were much more effective in the lower mounted Fabia fogs. hth ttfn Karl
  6. Glad i wasn't on the pitch - sorry, swimming pool - got wet enough in the stand. Can't say i've seen a yellow Furby vRS about though ttfn Karl
  7. Wasn't really luck the service manager was in the car, i'd had a chat with the salesman who sold it No, i floored it at about 25/30 on the slip road to motorway, so i could get up to speed. Thats why i said it was dangerous as the 1st time it happened i was overtaking a van in the outside lane and the power just went for a split second - almost brown trouser time  What gets me is the car was ok for the 1st week or so and it doesn't do it all the time, especially if accelerating slowy  Surely there are enough VAG 1.8t engines about that this should show up as a recall/manufacturing fault, how many just on this forum ?
  8. If you intend getting rid then iirc the phrase you use with Car Supermarket is " you are in breach of contract as the car reg no. is not of merchantable quality under section 14 of the amended Sale of Goods Act 1979". Not sure what the time limit is from purchase date though. Are you in a union, aa rac ? usually have a legal dept for advice, even try Insurance company. Sounds like some serious fault(s) with it, hope you get sorted hth Karl
  9. As i've only had my 4x4 a couple of weeks it's going in under warranty. Took the service manager out for spin, floored it and after about 3 seconds we were both held by the seat belts as the boost cut out momentariliy before picking up . After another 5 mins of various speed/gear acceleration surge/hesitate he seemed convinced there is a problem despite no fault codes . I said back at the dealership thats plain dangerous so i want it fixed or you get me another car under the 30 day exchange, so let's see what they come up with. ttfn Karl
  10. Furby 1.4 16v replaced a Honda Accord, which Blackburn Council kindly helped me throw off a 90 deg. bend (@ 15mph  ) on a patch of black ice by not salting - yet they put signs up saying this road is dangerous to the AA for the legal case &
  11. Is fitting a set of hatch vRS springs an option ? That's what i was hoping would fit ok.
  12. Chaps, As i saw this car on the road (or its clone) the other day can guarantee photos are not 'shopped. I assume the owner was going for the LA lowrider look, not my cup of tea on the Octavia but then my FTO is dropped 45/25 front/rear as about 60% in the club are, the standard ride height is way too high at the front. Same goes for my 4x4 Octy i've had for a couple of weeks, i think a vRS ride height called for (if possible) One good thing about being part of the human race, we are all unique with different tastes ttfn Karl
  13. Welcome. Used to know a girl @ uni from Bakkee, remember being shocked when she said income tax was about 50% , guess taxes are quite high ? ttfn Karl
  14. Ah ! looks like the one i overtook going past Tescos in Bury the other day. Looked a bit low for todays speed hump mad councils. ttfn Karl
  15. Well, here i am again. The Fabia is history, now looking forward to the new world of Octy 4x4 motoring.....a 51 hatch in metalic orange. After a near brown trouser moment on the test drive, thanks to a stereotypical indicatorless & blind 5 Series driver , a set of 312mm brakes already on order. Quick 2 questions, are the 16" vRS wheels i had on the Furby the same as those on the Octy vRS estate ? Anyone in Bolton/Bury/Blackburn areas know cheapest place for some 225x50x16 Eagles or similar ? Currently 3 different make/models fitted. ttfn Karl
  16. Need some help, Been looking for a 4x4 Octavia, one popped up at local Skoda dealer, 01 reg, 55k up at
  17. >> As for unmarked cars, look out for dark blue Volvos and Skodas on the M40. I've seen an unmarked Black Impreza on the M60 at the beginning of the year - that was scary, I didn't think that the GMP Police had any. << They also have a Met (sonic) blue? one. enticing boyracers in central Manchester ? or possibly an FRV. M60, M61, M62 etc there are or recently were unmarked : Black Galaxy Silver C class Merc estate Various Volvo saloon/ estate Scooby(s)
  18. Just my tuppence worth, neither for or against. Anyone use the M40 regularly ? many times seen one of the unmarked patrol cars cuising @ 85 - 90 in the inside lane, 35% of the traffic passing them and not flinched a blue light. the marked patrol cars stay about 80-85 and i've not seen anyone pulled in over 5 years The 1.4 16v pulls ok over 3k, lack of torque is noticeable low down though c/w an old 2.0 Vento GL (gti engine) we used to have. In a lighter Fabia can imagine its even better.
  19. Memories......Dad had one of the last ones. Been addicted to the sound of 6 cylinder's ever since . Rear end a bit wayward on wet roundabouts  if a bit heavy footed. iirc it was badged as M635 CSi not M6 Karl
  20. My W reg had front right replaced @ 31k as part of pre purchase prep in May - the lhs one has started going past week - now 33k. Looks like i will have to get warranty documents out!
  21. Mainly the reason i bought a Fabia over a Fiesta or Polo c/w What car's used/new supermini of the year 2000-2003. K
  22. Saw ths posted on the FTO bbs. Knew Octys were used but not Fabias. "I watched a unmarked burgundy Skoda Fabia estate pull someone over on the M11 this afternoon... that's hardly giving us a sporting chance is it! :-/ " ttfn Karl
  23. Minolta's Xg / Xt series use a periscope ( folded path optics). It gives superb quality 'snap-shot' size photos + i can keep it in my pocket. There are some new models due Sept/Oct (as always) so if you can wait you get the Sony cheaper or pay the same for a higher spec. If you haven't had a v.small digi camera before make sure you try it as a friends dad tried one but couldn't get a comfortable grip due to large brickies hands ! hth Karl
  24. Do the wipers cause noise ? Could be the choke on the power cable needs looking at or your HU/twig/etc not earthed properly.
