Citroën Sport has decided to enter two cars for the Cork 20 International Rally (September 28-30) with a view to honing its preparations for the final phase of the 2007 WRC season.
The inaugural Rally Ireland, the fifteenth and penultimate round of this year's World Rally Championship, is scheduled to take place on November 15-18 and its inclusion for the first time in the WRC calendar has prompted a long list of questions regarding the profile of the atypical stages competitors can expect to find.
Sébastien Loeb, Daniel Elena, the C4 WRC and Citroën Sport were able to gain an initial idea of the country's roads thanks to their participation on last June's Donegal Rally. Victory on that event enabled the team to glean a great deal of valuable information.
"To build up an even bigger picture of the Irish stages," explains Guy Fréquelin, "Citroën Sport has decided to enter two cars for the Cork Rally. Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena will be able to gain extra experience of these highly specific roads at the wheel of a C4 WRC, while Dani Sordo and Marc Marti will get their first taste of competition in the country with a Xsara WRC, since Citroën Sport has no other C4s available for the weekend in question."
BFGoodrich, Magneti-Marelli, NGK, OZ, Luhta, Sabelt, Transalliance, Nikko and Eurodatacar are the partners of Citroën Total WRT.

Clampdown on modified exhausts - Politics - Ireland - Breaking News - Belfast Telegraph
Boy racers have until next July to get rid of modified exhaust pipes on their cars, under an EU directive on noise pollution.
The law which comes into effect next year will ban the exhausts as part of a range of measures aimed at reducing noise emissions.
But it's not yet clear how the government will enforce the rule, or whether drivers could face fines for having enlarged exhaust pipes.

hi skud -
hope you dont mind me for asking , but what would you need a sump guard for on a fabia - they are usually fitted to 4x4s for off road use -
Definitely worthwhile - I unintentionally put mine to use up a particularly bumpy Irish road, and the Fabia wasn't lowered! I dread to think of the damage if the sump guard had not been fitted...

There's one sitting in the showroom in Bangor (N.Ireland).
There was also one in Belfast last time I was in.
Maybe try John Mulholland Motors as well?

Saw a SEAT Ibiza roll while looking in my rear view mirror - I was sitting at a set of traffic lights. Very easy done, just clipped the kerb and over he went. Served him right...he didn't thank me after I let him into my lane less than five minutes earlier lol :-/
(He was uninjured)

I'm also in Bangor, used to have a black Fabia vRS but have since traded it in for a mark 1 Octavia vRS.
-
Anyone have anymore details on this?
-
Looks like it has an NI reg and exported to England...careful it hasn't been involved in a bad smash at some point of its life.
-
I'll take 4 if there are any left?

Thanks for the help guys

Is it possible to enable the three flashes feature (by one nudge of the stalk) on an 04/05 Octavia vrs, just like the fabias have?

Mine is up for sale at £7250 - see:

Strange that...when I was buying mine it was the opposite.

Interesting thread! I just picked up a 2001 BMW 330D Sport with 70,000 miles yesterday. Initial impressions are that the BMW is faster from a standing start to 60, probably due to the weight being transferred to the rear under acceleration, so the rear has more grip and can get the power down (particularly in first gear). BUT, in gear acceleration doesn't FEEL as fast as a remapped Fabia (maybe it is?).
As for handling, with the same driver in both cars, the BMW would leave the Fabia trailing in its dust, thanks to the near 50/50 weight distribution.
I'm quite tall and with the driver's seat pushed back as far as it will go in both cars, there is more room in the back seats of the Fabia than in the BMW. Personally, I don't care about who's sitting in the back though!
Let's not forget that there's a beautiful note from the BMW's engine. Mmmm..
As for putting a smile on your face, if the BMW was front wheel drive, then the Fabia would win hands down every time. However, the BMW is rear wheel drive, and with the traction control turned off, it's a whole different ball game... :-)
These are two totally different breeds of car so it's not really fair to compare either of them. Personally, I love(d) the Fabia but felt like it was time for a change (incidentally, it's up for sale with 65k on the clock, complete with Revo remap and stainless steel exhaust if anyone's interested!). Take both for a test drive and make your decision from there!
Is the above what you're looking for?

Out of Letterkenny service area, turn right. Up to the roundabout, right again. On the way up the hill on the right.
Ah yes, sounds like it was sitting at Hillcrest B&B? If so, that was me alright I feel famous now!

Its good news alright' date=' hopefully the stages will be better than this years
@ RallyInfo - I thought I might have spotted your car in Donegal, on the side of the Letterkenny - Stranorla road....was it you ?[/quote']
I'm not too sure where that is...but it might well have been me!

Stage info hasn't been released yet but all I'll say is wherever you go, make sure you plan well in advance, get to the stage a couple of hours before it's due to start and stay there for the day. If crowd numbers are anything like other WRC events, it simply won't be possible to dart from stage to stage. And if you arrive at the last minute, you'll miss the stage as you'll be parking a couple of miles away!
As for making tea, I'm better at coffee Paul!! :P
