xcarlink & symphony stereo : anyone used one?
gm2112 replied to homerjh's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
I tried wiring one of these up yesterday - bought off ebay from China. Set up USB connection as per instructions, didn't work (2 other stick didn't work either...!). SD Card - didn't work either. BUT(!) - the line out to an old Samsung MP3 player worked just fine!. You take your chances with these things I'm afraid. Think I'll buy a new head unit instead...:thumbdwn: -

Thanks Karl - yes it has. Reset the fault that was appearing, All is well - though I am away to start the "Secondary Air Pump"-new-bolts/re-sealing box of fun... (Sounds like a dyson/Daffy Duck on speed at the moment). -

Interesting idea. Getting the clip "loose" must be a bit tricky though? Mole grips I suppose... Keep these tips coming! -
Octavia VRS Breather Pipe - removal?

Yeah, taking that off is necessary to get the plate off underneath. Its the connections at the right if the manifold that seem impossible to get out the way without damaging them. -
Octavia VRS Breather Pipe - removal?

Thanks for that - was very careful with the plate and dipstick as you mentioned ! Thing is from there in, my baby girl would have difficulty getting a hand / screwdriver or set of grips in to the far end of the pipe. Seems a hell of a lot of "attachments" to remove to get the bugger out. Will try and have a crack at this again, but if your mate knows any further tips, it all helps! Cheers. G -

Octavia VRS Breather Pipe - removal?
gm2112 replied to gm2112's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Just need to know (roughly) what all has to be removed to get in about this pipe - anyone? -
Hi. This is a follow on to a thread in VAG-Diagnostics. Have a split breather hose which is cause the "..mixture too lean" error appear. I was directed to the cause and cure of the problem, which is in this thread ; http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/vrs-error-code-171-bank1-lean-please-help/84522/ As per the excellent advice there, the pipe is split (approx 1 inch), and I patched it up in situ. Part No : S06A103221BK I now have the part in question, and had an attempt at removing the plate that surrounds the dipstick, but there are still pipes connected that make changing this pipe abit of a pain in the ****! What is the best way to do this? Any suggestions welcome, as I fear I'll do more damage by trying to move hoses and connectors out the way... (Pictures from above-mentioned thread, showing pipe) cheers. (This pic shows a repair done by Lummox, 2007) Location under inlet manifold. How do you get (safely) in about there?!
-
Fair enough, will do.
-
Did a temporary repair with the damaged pipe in situ. Now have a replacement pipe. As a relative newcomer to the VAG engines(Cough), what is the easiest way to get this pipe out? The plate attached to the inlet manifold, once the 2 screws are removed still has all manner of pipes on it !!? The other end is completely inaccessible. Can anyone advise of the best (and safest) way to get this awkward little pipe out? Cheers
-
Ok, now only left with 4488 - the other two have gone. Could not see any obvious leaks or splits on any hoses....?!??! Is the temp sensor a possibilty also? (Ruled out MAF, as this has been replaced...) Thanks.
-
Many thanks for that, will check out the hoses as per the thread - a bit cheaper than a new sensor.....
-
TBH, thats what I initially thought it 'could' be. Nowt wrong with the temp guage, no rough idling. Light only comes on when sharp changes of temperature occur though. Have had new coolant tank this year, but otherwise runs perfectly. Anyone else concur that the feckin Lamda probe is goosed?!
-
Hi there, I have one of these Memo Scanner readers, and came up with the following codes ; 1. 4488 2. 4529 3. 4528 (They came up in that order...) 1. In the book, 4488 is Bank 1 mixture adaption, mixture too lean. Having read that the '8' may be a 'B" it could also be "Linear Lamda Probe resist interruption. 2./ 3. 4529 and 4528 aren't even listed in the manual - ??!!!! Anyone have one of these, or know what the score is with these codes? Any help much appreciated..! G

Have narrowed my search for a "sensible" family car to the Octavia VRS. I think I made the right choice!
