I was asking for someone else...... and apparently he forgot to mention it is an estate car he has... and also the MK KK in the original post was supposed to read MKII ! ! ! .. (typo ) From what "Chorlton" says in the previous post...it seems that they are not compatible anyway ! ..

As the title says... will a MKi Roof rack bars fit a MKKK Fabia 1.6 > If not , is there an easy fix, like removing the clamps and bending them? or changing the bolts ? Any tips or tricks would be useful,..... Thanks..

Thanks to all for the input on this.... Skoda Fabia SE 1.6 TDI CR105 reg 2011 . Just had a letter from Skoda, saying they are now ready to do the NOx work, and to make a booking...... Have heard scary stories for the past couple of years about this "fix"... and today I saw an article on the Daily Mail site... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4687386/Thousands-owners-complain-cars-losing-power.html#reader-comments That made me have a serious re-think, and come on here to check what others have found out, etc. It is now Wednesday 12 July 2017 time 20:28 ( uk local time )... and I have just watched the "Watchdog" report about this "fix" and the problems it has caused... during the report, there was a short piece about the transport select committee grilling the VW boss about it... to which he variously denied that these problems were anything to do with the work carried out or the fix.... The Transport Secretary ( I think that`s who it was, ) in charge, said she was not happy with his answers......... An Audi owner was on the forecourt "plaza" outside the BBC and he reported that he had had problems ever since the work had been carried out... an apparently, independent testing before and after the "fix" showed that the car was, indeed, showing a lack of power after the fix, and that the EGR valve was working extra hard and could fail at any time. An added incentive for me to cancel my booking came from the guy who was in the back seat....(* I think the reporter introduced him as from some car trading magazine like Autotrader, ( sorry wasn`t really listening to that intro )...) but he was adamant that if he had a VW car that was called in for this work, he would not have it done.... it is NOT mandatory, he said... Therefore,... with all that evidence against having the work carried out, I am now going to Email my Skoda Dealership, and tell them to cancel the appointment.. I bought the car, from a Skoda Dealership, 3 years ago, with 60,000 miles on the clock, it now has 91,000 on the clock.... I regularly get over 60mpg from recording mileage travelled on the receipts at "fill up" ( I "brim fill " so I know the fuel level is the same each time I fill )... and work out the mpg The car has performed extremely well, and I am not going to jeopardize that to satisfy the ego of the VW management. I shall sleep well tonight.......

Having read a couple of posts below..... Open Bonnet.... put bonnet stay in position. Use cross head screwdriver to remove two screws from air filter housing. Carefully lever out airfilter housing from under two clips (on left side) but pull housing to right side. Raise airfilter housing so that access can be gained to underneath air filter. Locate the pipe end sticking out from the bulkhead re-attach the pipe that is hanging down to the aforementioned pipe check the rear washer is working..... if so... replace air filter housing in the reverse order of removal. close bonnet.... go and wash your hands.... ! Job done (about 5 minutes)

Fabia 1.9 SDI 2001. My rear screen washer is not working, the front ones do, and when I push the rear wash wipe lever, I can hear the motor for the pump running... I seem to recall this happening a long time ago, just after an oil and filter change.... Can anyone point me in the direction of the pipe connection to the washer pump, that "maybe" under the bonnet somewhere? Or, and alternative reason why it isn`t working.... (I don`t think the jet is blocked !) Thanks in advance.....

Hi guys, Fabia 1.9 diesel sdi. Y reg 2001 112,000 on clock Was getting 64mpg 4 years ago when I bought it, including driving in Wales, bendy and hilly roads, Now getting a regular 60mpg, general motoring around town, short journeys... get similar on m/way long journeys..... only true way to check out mpg is as follows.... Fill tank to brim. note mileage. drive for about 250/300 miles. re-fill tank to brim. note trip mileage. note also litres on petrol station pump. divide number of litres by 4.5 (to give number of gallons) divide mileage from trip recorder by number of gallons.... (use calculator ! !) that gives the TRUE overall MPG. relying on electronics in the car can be "unreliable" for various reasons.

How easy is that to do? Have seen other posts where you just pull the rubber seals away, and then the headlining comes down..... Is it really that easy? I probably won`t need to take it all the way down, I presume....

So, do I have to climb on the roof to get at the screw? Is it inside the rubber base, presumably holding it down to the roof? Is it a Philips (cross slot) or a star shape head? Any other help you can give?

I don`t have it on my "basic" "classic" model.... (the air conditioning..... )

Replaced the power steering pump at same time as power steering rack failed... .... no symptoms of failure

It is not the brakes.... I know when they are hot, and recognise the burning smell from there.... have holidays in Wales, and revel in the steep mountain tracks,....Have been driving for 45 years, and do not "ride the clutch" Next one.... No. it isn`t the windscreen wash.... (or were you joking?) Next one.... No. I do not get a shock when I get out..... I think I am a brighter spark than you.. No. I do not use talc, or own a dyson either...

Don`t know about driving behind buses, cos I only smell it when I am parking up i.e stop engine, get out of car, and there it is !..... yes... I suppose you could say it was a "clean" type smell.... sort of thing you get if you do a "flashover" with heavy duty cables on a 12 volt car battery....

No.... sorry chaps.....neither of those.... It is definitely something I can smell, as if it is coming from the engine.....sometimes it is quite strong, and sometimes not so strong.... have wondered about it for a while.... Not unpleasant.... but postmanpat seems to know the kind of smell I mean.... Have smelt it when going round the back of the car too... (hence my thinking of engine/exhaust)

Y reg 2001 Skoda Fabia 1.9 sdi genuine confirmed clock mileage 114,536..... of which I have done 65k in 4 years....

Fabia 1.9 sdi 2001 y Reg... 111,000 miles.... just noticed mine has been pulling to left.... also had a knocking & squeaking noise (see recent posts) and had the Mod replacement anti roll bar done..... still pulls to left (slightly) as before.... Perhaps the front suspension /tracking/geometry, is geared to driving on the "wrong side of the road" (the continent) and requires the setting to avoid the car drifting into the ditch (i.e. opposite setting so it generally drifts to the centre of the road on the continent to counteract the road camber on the "wrong side of the road " ??? Does that make sense?

I`m not rich yet .... quote from another poster "sounds a bit dodgy".... do you know "where my car is". when they have collected it? and can you be sure you will get it back.....? Trawl your local yellow pages, for independent garages, or as above, buy all your own parts, and supply them to a local "mobile mechanic" who comes round to your house...

My power steering went on my Fabia 1.9 sdi Y reg, not long after I bought it from a garage 2nd hand.... had a 6 month warranty, so thought I was o.k. however..... First of all, the steering went "stiff", then almost impossible, then very heavy (over a period of about 1 month) finally, I noticed a huge amount of Oil under the car in a Tesco carpark...Called in the Rescue Squad, transported it back home .. got the garage I bought it from to come pick it up and repair it.... the repairs were split 50/50, with me paying about £400 for the steering rack, and them paying for the labour.... Warranty? well very carefully worded, (and I argued with garage about it) but it does NOT cover RUBBER seals used in manufacture.... and as it was the rubber seals that had failed,.... no warranty ! ! Hope you get it sorted quick... (and cheaper than me ! !)

Fabia 1.9 sdi 2001 Y reg..... the car radio aerial has been vandalised, and the screw thread on the bottom, also has the "socket" screwed on to it.... which has "disconnected" from the lead .... hence very poor radio reception.... I need to "get at" the end of the lead that is broken (inside the rubber base) so I can solder the "screw socket" back together and make the connection good again.... How do I access the base of the aerial to effect this repair? Thanks....

Sometimes when I stop my Fabia 1.9 sdi 2001 Y reg 111,000 miles on clock, I get a strong "ozone" smell..... (no it isn`t my deodorant) anyone got any ideas what could be the cause of it?

O.K. Here`s my story.... I had noticed my 2001 Fabia 1.9 sdi making "clonking & squeaky" noises from all four corners when going over "normal bumpy roads"... but worse when going over road works.. As it has done 111,000 miles, I thought it might be shock absorbers.... took it to local National Tyres, who put it on the lift, took the front wheel off, and noticed there was a lot of wear (about quarter inch deep) where the anti roll bar had chafed against a major front wheel upright suspension block... First reaction was "that`ll cost me £300 at skoda", then he suggested a local garage to take it to for a second opinion.... did that, the "very nice man" there told me he had a similar job a week ago on a VW Golf, the anti roll bar had shifted to the right a bit thru the weakened rubbers, and suspected the similar setup on Skoda..... quoted about £80, with a proviso, that he contact Skoda to see if they had parts, and prices, and if any Mods had been made.... Lucky me.... Skoda have Modified the antiroll bar rubbers and need the mod Complete with new anti roll bar.... new total for job £188. including vat.... Was a little concerned after job done, although the "clonking noises " had gone, and steering seemed a little better control ,as I could still hear "rubbery squeaks" .... today it has rained..... NO SQUEAKS.. NO CLONKS... Before it rained, I got myself a can of WD40, intending to give all the suspension rubbers a good squirt, to see if the squeaking noises disappeared..... rain did it, so will give a squirt, next dry period..... might save you £188 if you squirt first and ask questions at garage if still squeaking ! ! !.. see also Knocking Noise - Broken Anti Roll Bar which is in the help stickies at top of page one.... Check out your yellow pages, under Motor Factors , or Car Accessory dealers, ring them all with your car details, you may need the vin number, but usually the registration is good enough, they will tell you the price (probably plus vat) and if they have it in stock.... I found a £34 difference in the rear exhust box for my FABIA 1.9 SDI (across 5 Motor Factors incl Skoda)..... and they had it in stock too....
