Skoda Tudor Shopping List.
1) Second hand Superb... Anyone know of one going???
2) Longer front doors, e.g. VW Phaeton (should be cheap second hand...)
3) R32 engine and running gear
Cut and re-weld rear doors with B-pillars moved back
Attach Phaeton doors
Apply dose of R32 (with optional twin turbo attachment)
Stand back and admire
I need that car in my life!

Smaller boot' date=' less rear leg room, :gay: ...it comes down to what you want from the car!

POWER! The ability to beat that pesky Clio 172 Sport that I saw (briefly) yesterday...
Methinks the Octy is due a re-map...
And a bigger turbo...
Etc...

Well, it's been over three hours since I was in the vRS... Starting to get withdrawal symptoms. :scared: This is slightly countered out by the experience of driving the Fusion
The questions are these...
1) If I like the Fabia (hopefully 1.9), will the missus notice if I part-ex her Fiesta against it? Possibly...
2) If I end up driving the Fabia vRS and I like it, should I chop in the Octy vRS for one? (cheaper insurance, better mpg)
3) Should I just not bother mincing, and go and buy a Mk1 Golf for no money, lob in a better engine (TT 225 please...) and have fun that way?

Well... I cruised into work this morning in my "Sweet Ford Fusion"...
It is as poor as I thought (yes I'm moaning for the sake of it)
But I can put that down to having driven the vRS for the past six months non-stop. If I had this as a courtesy car whilst I was in the Punto I'd not be unhappy at all.
Yes the Fusion is a bit slower, although not for the want of trying - as a BMW 330 found out as my shopping trolley sped past at fifty mph
Excellent over-the-shoulder vision, to look when you're cutting people up... Sorry, to make sure you're NOT cutting people up.
It does have a lovely gear change, esp. fourth to fifth - very slick.
Engine is chuffin' noisey, but pulls well... Might see if the dealer has a Fabia I can take for a spin on Saturday, to check out the difference. Which one do I ask for? (apart from the vRS of course... )
Does this make me a member of the Ford Fusion Fan Club?

Congrats... Sounds like a long time coming...
Enjoy the drive home...
With extra detours

Get yourself some steel wheels and a set of these Jason's next mod so I hear
:pimp:
Nice...

When I booked the car in, they said it would either be one of two Fabia's or a Ford Fusion...
Prayer mat was out v v v quick I can tell you.

I've just confirmed with Brooklyn Skoda Alcester my courtesy car for Thursday and Friday whilst the Octy vRS goes in for its 40k service...
Ford Fusion 1.4 Diesel :thumbdwn:
Mmmm... nice wheels.
If I take the day off, does anyone know if I can get it re-mapped to, say, 190BHP? I fear it may be a tad on the slow side.
I suppose this will make me appreciate the vRS even more...

Welcome to the site' date='
you'll miss it when you can't get on it!!!![/quote']
Too right... Nearly two weeks without...
Cold sweat, the shakes... But got quite a bit of work done... Strange that!
Welcome and enjoy :wave23d:

ColinD... Spot on.
Being an accountant (spit) I get a lot of these questions... Your example is the right one.
But...
Unless things have changed, you only get to claim the tax on the difference, and normally the IR simply adjust your tax code.

Really though... Has anyone thought "Ooo, pop up window advertising car, must go and test drive it..."?

I can't say how a drop in performance would feel, given that my Octy vRS is the quickest car I have owned... However, the knowledge that it is totally screwed together, along with numerous awards for reliability and customer satisfaction (which swayed me away from Seat and the Leon Cupra) is superb for me...
I had two Italian cars before this, and the fact that you can hear the engine and turbo rather than bits falling off is great IMHO.
Servicing is cheap by all accounts, and they're easy to tune too... Insurance on the diesels looks excellent, plus it'll be two fingers up to G Brown!
-
Sounds good... I have a Carbonio too, plus a Hyperboost valve, but sadly haven't had enough time to have it checked out yet, so 186-190 is what I should be hoping for? It's a 51 plate with 40K on the clock, so I'm guessing it's ripe for a bit of tweakage from Jabba...
-
I jest... a friend of mine has the GSI and very nice it is too... just looks a bit like every other v%$tra out there... not as quick as mine either!
-
"Vectra" and "Sport"... not words you'd normally see in the same sentence... :revs:
-
Well didn't have much planned for tomorrow, so if the skies stay good I'll have a squiz under the bonnet... Failing that, I'll leave it to the service and see if I can get them to check the sensor.
On another matter... what should my next move be? Neuspeed Turbo intake or some sort of cat-back exhaust? Suggestiosn welcome.
-
Cheers Nigel26... I know even less, I'm glad for the first time in my life I can ask an expert to sort it rather than living with it. I ignored a temperature warning on my old car (Fiat Punto )... cue head gasket giving up.
Lack of time hasn't allowed me to investigate anything else (Dave), not really sure what I should be looking for. Yes, has only started in past three weeks or so. Can't blame it on the British weather, sadly. No, check engine light isn't on I don't think.
Just wondering if I can ask the dealer to look at it under warranty at the service... Originally the sensor was faulty on the two test drives, assured it would be fixed before delivery. It was, sadly, so I'm guessing the intake is doing its job (too well!).
Still doesn't explain why it's a morning thing only though...
-
Don't know if this has already been discussed, hoping that there's an easy answer to this one!
Has anyone else who has fitted a Carbonio I.K or similar cold air intake had the temp warning light and annoying loud triple beep when starting up in the mornings, or is it just me? Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold outside, but strangely doesn't happen when I leave work. Only been fitted for a few weeks, so haven't sampled a properly cold day yet.
-
Forgot to ask... am I the youngest Octy vRS owner here? 24 (and a half)... Can't wait for next year's insurance quote - fingers crossed!
-
Do it!
Carbonio plus dump valve equals big smile when changing gear at 7000rpm. Trust me...

Hi all at BriSkoda
Heard about the site from a chap from JBS Auto Designs whilst at GTI International in May, so thought I'd log on and see what's happening.
Is it just me, or when you buy a new car that you haven't seen in your area, in the following couple of weeks, a dozen or so crop up?! Glad I turned down the Leon Cupra for the Octavia VRS, there seem to be hundreds of them Seats in my home town. Do enjoy seeing other VRS's around... Got in a conversation with the owner of a black one at the petrol station a few days ago (we agreed the black does look smarter than the red, but is more understated... do I wish I'd waited for a black one? Maybe...)
Interested in reading the comments on warranty issues vs modifying... I have taken a couple of (150 mile) trips to Awesome GTI in Warrington, for a Hyperboost Diverter valve (heard the rumours about the OE spec valve, made sense to upgrade for reliability purposes) and more recently, a Carbonio induction kit (fantastic growl, plus makes the Hyperboost sound superb but not Jap-style stupid). Impressed by their service and know-how... Yes it's a long way to go, but I don't know of a specialist tuner's in the Midlands... Any ideas?
Due for the 40k service in a month or so... I made enquiries about "non-Skoda modifying parts" when I signed up... The salesman at Brooklyn Skoda, Alcester said something similar to what Robmawer and GeordieSteve were discussing... Fingers crossed then... Only problems i've had are minor (squeeky suspension, one child lock always on, one tempremental lecky window), don't foresee any problems.
Other than that, enjoying ownership to the full, looking forward to hitting the quarter-mile sometime - but when nobody's looking, don't want anyone laughing at me!
Looking forward to my courtesy car...

Slight delay to proceedings...
Dealer has just rung me with an update on my service.
1) Front tyres need replacing... One on the limit, one just below. Six months driving... oops. Awaiting quote.
2) Needs brake fluid change -
