  1. This is useful to know - thank you. Dave
  2. Thank you I can't see for my personal use adding anything extra than the rear camera to be honest - I have been spoilt with it ever since owning a Primera more than 15 years ago !! Is there a "facelift" on the horizon ? Dave
  3. Thank you for that. Are there any "must have" options you would add to the se-l ? The reversing camera is a no brainer for a car of this size. Dave
  4. Does the se-l come with a reversing camera as standard ? Dave
  5. Hi Thanks for the input - I only have 13,000 on the Mercedes estate in almost 3 years so not huge miles. But I do carry a lot of heavy equipment a lot of the time. I thin se-l is looking more promising. I have a google pixel 3 which I assume will work on android auto on the Kodiaq. Dave
  6. Hi Not posted on here since July 2016 when I was considering a Superb Estate - bad dealer experience made me spit my dummy out and I went for a Mercedes C CLass Estate - which to be fair has been absolutely faultless for past 3 years. BUT Really need the extra space a Superb/Kodiaq will bring - so here I am. So I have 2 models in mind - 2.0 TDI SE 4wd or 1.5 TSI SEL. Pros and Cons of each vehicle ? Dave
  7. Hi You don't need business insurance to travel to and from work. I checked with RSA who insure Motability vehicles when I first qualified for the scheme. I know a lot of disabled people who work both full and part time. PIP is not a means tested benefit so your income actually makes no difference to the amount they pay you. Dave
  8. Thank you so much for all the replies -I really appreciate them............. With lack of response from Skoda Manchester and the awful experience in Rochdale I am going to back away from Skoda as an option. I completely understand why people are travelling to Preston/Chester etc but its not an option for me as I work so my time is precious. I need a local dealer I can work with - Hatfields in Bury with my Volvo have been awesome !! I am going back to Mercedes tomorrow to see exactly what I can get in the back of the C Class Estate. Once again thank you all for the time taken - I really appreciate it. Dave
  9. Not too sure what time Manchester Skoda close today - but not had a phone call back from the Motability specialist. Maybe they don't make much money on these deals so are not that bothered. Dave
  10. Thank you for the advice - I rang Skoda Manchester earlier to make an appointment with Motability Specialist there - he was busy so he is ringing me back.........hopefully ;-) Dave
  11. Hi I went to ROCHDALE Skoda this morning and really wish I had not of bothered. As we entered the showroom a happy salesman cheerfully greeted myself - I explained I was a Motability customer and his smile dissappeared.........."I'll have to go and get the lady who does Motability " - he went away - came back a few minutes later and said "she's out on a test drive" and that was it - just left standing there. I spotted the Superb Estate in the showroom so went to have a look - despite feeling very uncomfortable - it is a BIG car - the bootspace looked awesome - and whilst there were many staff sat at desks, sat in offices surrounding the showroom (not one of them was with a customer) - I couldn't find anybody to answer just a few questions I had - eyes hit the floor when I tried to make eye contact with somebody. I have a theory - and its happened to me before. Before I became poorly I always wore shirts, pants, tie, shoes etc..........however since I cannot tie laces or do buttons up correctly I have had to start wearing jogging pants and trainers t-shirts etc - more casual clothing - and the way that people treat you in a social situation based on your clothing is amazing. Not another word was uttered to myself during the entire 15 mins or so onsite - I even went outside looking at other cars - but nobody approached me. It hasn't happened for a while until today - even in the Mercedes showroom yesterday at Eastlands in Manchester they were very welcoming and answered lots of questions for myself. Its a shame because I wouldn't use this particular Skoda Franchise (?) now whatever happened - there is another one in Manchester which is probably same distance away - so I may try that one next week. But not a good start I'm afraid. Dave
  12. Hi No it has to be a brand new car - hence the wait time is important. The "virtual peddle closure" - is this on the boot where you wave your foot under the car ? How does this work when caked in dirt/mud ? Is this an "extra" Good point about remote boot open/close - my V70 has remote open of the tailgate - but not closing. I have been reading up on the bmw estates and think that's off the list as well. Hopefully get to a dealer today. Dave
  13. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply - looks like a 3-4 month wait. That could be a problem as my current car Motability lease expired back in May - but I was given a 6 month extension until November - now PIP has been granted I spoke to Motability this morning who tell me if I choose another car it must be delivered before end of November - or I will be without a car until its ready. I am hopeful at getting to a dealer tomorrow (Manchester or Rochdale - we are in the middle of them both) Hopefully they will have a car to look at. Dave
  14. Thank you for the reply - the Volvo has a huge boot space so if the Superb is bigger then that's awesome. I think I'll go for the se l executive as it has the larger info screen doesn't it - along with the sat nav and powered tailgate ? My Volvo is a 1.6 - and whilst its fine most of the time - with a lot in the back it can struggle a bit - so probably go for a 2 litre. Does anybody know what the current build/wait time is ? Dave
  15. Hi Not been around since 2012 when I placed an order for a new superb but cancelled it because of dealer problems ! So I am now looking to change my vehicle once again - I have had a Volvo V70 for the past 3 years which has been excellent. However my car is on Motability and they don't do the V70 anymore on the scheme. I have narrowed it down to 3 vehicles - the Superb in the thread title - a Volvo XC60 (Boot not really big enough for wheelchair - so this is looking less likely) - BMW 3 Series Estate or Mercedes c class estate. I am far from a badge snob - and after looking at the C Class Estate today the boot part again seems small - think I have been spoilt by the V70. I haven't managed to get to a Skoda Dealer yet - is the Superb Model in the thread title recommended ? I only do 6000 miles a year - mainly to doctors, hospitals, clinics etc - so thought a petrol model would be better - although diesel models are available - here is my selection of Superbs...................click link below....... http://www.motability.co.uk/cars-scooters-and-powerchairs/search/cars/?subType=1&originalTotalRows=8&allowance_type=DLA&web_rangemake=Skoda&web_model=Superb&web_car_type=Estates&web_transmission=Semi-Automatic&web_transmission=Automatic&Find= Any thoughts would be appreciated - only stipulation I have is that it has to be an automatic. Thanks In Advance. Dave
  16. Oh no - sounds like its NOT a one off then...............should have done my homework a bit better I think ! Dave
  17. Hi I've not had Pre gablin but have had tramadol , gabapentyn, and amitrixaline - working towards morphine patches I think - will mention it to the doctor on next visit - thank you for the suggestion pal. Dave
  18. I was in two minds about it to be honest - but the more I realise the predicament they have left me in - the more annoyed I am getting. I wouldn't even buy a loaf of bread from this dealership - let alone a £30,000 car. I suppose the way to look at it is that I had a lucky escape - imagine spending that money and only then realising that they were unwilling to be of any further help................... Looks like I am going to have look at another marque as I need a car asap....what a mess ! Dave
  19. Hi Ok now I have the money back............the dealer was Claybank in Eccles in Manchester. I dealt with Ian (sales person who took my order and seemed very professional and friendly - I even sent him an email after I had asked for my deposit money back thanking him for his help and time - but have received no reply ) And I also dealt with a person whom I think was the Sales Manager and his name was Henry, he was the gentleman whom I asked to process my deposit refund as they could not supply my car in the colour ordered - things seemed to go downhill during our conversation when I asked for my deposit money back. He was fully aware of my health issues and urgent need for a vehicle - however when I asked for my money back he said he was not in for the next 2 days and would issue a cheque to me as soon as he could. At this point I reminded him that I had paid the deposit in cash and I would be happy to go along and collect it over the next day or two. Hr refused to do this so I awaited the cheque - which of course (as detailed at the beginning of this thread) was never issued/sent to me. Because of the reluctance/delay in returning my deposit money I have now lost out on another vehicle - and possibly the ability to get around for the next few months. But onward I go with my search..................................Its been stressful ! Dave
  20. Hi Thanks everybody for the input. I have now received my deposit money back - as my old Mum used to say " What a Palaver!" Dave
  21. Bad News - It wasn't a bluff from the dealer with regards to the new vehicle I had located and somebody has indeed now placed a cash deposit on it ! Thought they might as it had loads of extras Park Assist, Keyless Entry etc etc.................absolute bloody nightmare. I am going to the bank in the morning to see if the money has indeed been credited to my account or to see whether they can tell if its "on its way" -as for naming and shaming - well I am reluctant about that as I have yet to receive my money back - this has been one the the worst experiences I have ever had whilst buying anything - ever ! The worst thing about this is that the salesman and the sales manager BOTH know my problems with driving my current Manual car (mobility problems that are getting worse by the week) - it was explained to them both at time of order and also when they said they could not supply the car in the colour I had ordered it in - not even an apology - email - telephone call or anything - perhaps I am old fashioned but if it was my dealership and I had not only let a customer (whom was willing to spend nigh on 24k) down on supplying the vehicle but also failed to return deposit money back to him promptly - I would be doing my upmost to rectify the situation and maybe even try to make up for the inconvenience.............like I say perhaps I am just old fashioned. As for the "being too nice" part then I see nothing wrong with being nice - and I am not about to let these people change me and my outlook on life - but I do agree that I need to step up the pressure being placed upon them. Disgraceful - is the only way to describe how I have been treated - and this is just my opinion - there are 2 sides to every story - it would actually be very interesting to hear why they think its acceptable to treat people like this without second thought. Dave
  22. Quick update 2 - been informed that somebody else interested in new vehicle I have found and can I go in and make a deposit to secure the vehicle - this is probably dealer talk and he is just trying to get me to secure the vehicle with a deposit - or there could really be somebody else genuinely interested in it....................not too sure what to think. Contacted my bank and no bank transfer has been done yesterday - how long do they usually take? I thought they were immediate (ie overnight). Getting a bit more annoyed now............... Dave
  23. Quick Update........... Ok it seems that the promised cheque that was supposedly posted out last week was never posted. The lady who deals with the finances for the dealer has said that no cheque was ever issued to me - she has promised me a bank transfer to my bank account tomorrow....................fingers crossed. To be honest I a so relieved that I don't have to deal with this particular dealership - could not get enough help from them when they wanted my deposit money - but a completely different attitude when they had to return it to me. I am honestly shocked at the way a Main Dealership can treat a customer like this to be honest. Especially as none of this was my fault. Dave
  24. Thanks for all the suggestions.....................I may have just found another vehicle - only missing the variable boot floor option that I originally spec'ed up - but I still have not received my deposit money back from original dealer despite promise of being sent last week. I have now asked them if I can collect the cash from them tomorrow as I urgently need it to secure this other vehicle. Fingers crossed they agree and then I may be able to just concentrate on obtaining a suitable vehicle ! Dave
