  1. Mate, go to war with them.

Your car is under warranty, there is a fault with it therefore they HAVE to resolve it.

DONT let them fob you off with the classic “it’s normal” line.  I’m on my second Kamiq and I can categorically say it is NOT normal.

So, you get hold of the Dealer Principles contact details (preferbaly email~easily obtained with some digging) and give it to him/her about how you will not go away until the problem is resolved.  At the same time you log an official complaint with Škoda UK.

Trust me, it WILL get resolved.

Never ever let these stealers off the hook, persue them until it is sorted.

They love you pre sale, and couldn’t care less post sale.

You could look but you'll find it hard to find one, I guess you'll try though.

Anyways, quite a few like you 'know alls' make like you've a god given right to make pointless comments, sneering at what others post when TBH you're just a wind up merchant.

Trust me, I won’t be looking because I couldn’t care less if I tried.

Oh, and I’m not a “know all” mate but I do have opinions on things, and I will voice them…..that ok with you?

I didn’t “sneer” at the OP at all, I just offered up my opinion on reverse cameras that’s all.  Apology accepted.

Mate, I’ve been on this forum since 2004, I doubt I’d have lasted this long if I was a wind up merchant.

This is a forum mate, where big boys and girls come to seek help and offer opinions etc.  If it’s a bit too edgy for you then I’d suggest subscribing to something far less offensive.

Oh, and there was no need to quote my last post twice, I read your reply the first time.

    Idiot😂😂

Parking sensors in my car give a continuous beep at around 28-30cm i can get a lot closer with the camera.

It also enables me to see the towball to reverse under the Caravan hitch,

You find them helpful and that’s great, I’ve just never seen the need that’s all. Nobody is right or wrong here, it’s a forum where help and opinions are commonplace, it’s really no big deal and I’m not sure why certain people are getting all worked up about it😂

My last car had reverse cameras but I literally never looked at the screen when reversing, I preferred the old fashioned way of mirrors and the sensor beeps.

If it works for you then all is good👍

    No dramas whatsoever.

Why the negative comments? I have made MY choice to install a reverse camera and have asked for guidance on the fitting process.

If this forum group is made up of people who are not prepare to offer assistance when requested but are willing to provide negativity then I question whether this is the group for me.

Forums are indeed designed to offer assistance where required, but you’ll also have plenty of people offering plenty of opinions too, that’s the nature of a forum mate.

The trick is to accept that different opinions are absolutely fine, there will be heap loads of things that you disagree with me on…..and that’s absolutely fine.

    No need to get upset.

    Jesus🙄

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My opinion is that for added safety/comfort I would like to add the camera to the standard parking sensors and have already place an order for the sinosmart kit.

Fair play mate, at last someone who recognises that we all have different opinions.

It’s nice to have an adult debate👍

Pointless post too, if you no likey why bother posting, move on.😞

I’ll guarantee that if I looked hard enough I can find plenty of posts from you whereby you’ve voiced an unhelpful opinion…..but I don’t care enough to even bother.

    Wind your neck in mate.

    Very Helpful

It wasn’t intended to be helpful mate, but this is a forum and like it or not opinions are commonplace, so I voiced my opinion.

    You’re welcome👍

  8. Reverse cameras are a pointless luxury if you already have reverse sensors (which most new cars have).

The sensors will accurately tell you how close you are to something, thus doing the same job as a camera just without the visual aid.

If I buy a car with reverse cameras fitted that’s fine, but I wouldn’t dream of chasing wires and drilling holes into a car to have one retro fitted. Even if it didn’t involve drilling holes I still wouldn’t bother, pointless.

Only my opinion, if you disagree then all good👍

  9. I recently traded in a 2021 Monta Carlo with a full size spare wheel for a brand new 73 plate Monte Carlo with a pathetic tyre inflation kit.

You should have seen the look on the salesman’s face when upon collecting my 73 plate I proceeded to swap the inflation kit for the spare wheel.

    He wasn’t impressed, and I didn’t care.

Guys, next time you go and order a new car make sure that you insist on a full spare wheel instead of an inflation kit.  You’ll be surprised how willing they will be to accommodate you if the deal hinges on it, that’s what I’ll be doing next time.

OP, call the dealer and tell him/her that the deal depends on them providing you with a full spare wheel.

  10. Everyone seems to be missing the point, it shouldn’t be up to us to navigate a successful update, it should be as straightforward as pressing a button and letting it do its thing.  We pay a lot of money for our cars, and to have the added stress of worrying about an update should not be a thing.

Put it this way, if it was me and I was unable to successfully update the system I’d be straight to my dealer demanding that they sort it out, and I certainly wouldn’t be trolling the internet for which update is current and whether I should update to the previous version first.

This is why car manufacturers get away with things like this, because they know the average person will move heaven and earth to resolve a problem before bothering them.  Not me, why should I?

Not necessarily.  If something has been obscuring the sensors or distorting their view, this may have cleared between one journey and the next.

You are right, it could be just another VAG gremlin or it could be something like snow obscuring the sensors (I’ve had this).  My point is that is is usually temporary and nothing to worry about.

It's now landed, picked it up today. SE L spec DSG 1ltr 70 plate with just 18k miles.

Looking to get a boot mat and reverse camera (I've seen links in other threads for both)  but for now I'll install my dash cam and enjoy the driving👍

You’ll love it.  Put it this way, in over 30 years of driving everything from Audi to Peugeot to BMW etc this is the first time I’ve ever replaced a car with exactly the same model and spec.  Love it.

  13. It will be a DSG ‘dry box’ auto therefore requires no servicing.

As for the engine/gearbox combination I’ve read several times on here that the DSG box is better suited to the 1.0 engine, so you should be good.  I don’t know why it’s better suited to the 1.0 but I’ve definitely read it here from one or two members.

As for the 1.0 engine, well I was frankly blown away when I was lent one from a dealer, it honestly doesn’t feel much behind the 1.5 in terms of performance, and it is very very refined.

  14. In my experience Dealership salesmen have very little knowledge of the cars they sell.  In this case he’s probably glanced over the specs of the facelift model and assumed that the car he sold you also has matrix lights.

I could be wrong but just saying, pretty much every salesman I’ve dealt with over the years knew very little about the cars they sold me.

Ah really I though it looked alright, I can always return it, will have a think. The red stitching matches part of the seat and the handbrake (monte carlo red stitching)... I think I was more afraid of the fabric being torn or scratched.

Hmm, will see how it is over the weekend and return. Thanks for the feedback honestly 👍

Mate it’s only my opinion, if you like it then it doesn’t matter what others think.

I personally think that the standard cloth on the armrest looks fine, but again if you don’t like it then that’s cool.

Mods to cars will always be subjective, and there i things I like that others don’t and that’s cool.  If you like it then stuff everyone else (including me).

As for it wearing, well I had my previous MC for over 2 years and it looked as good as new so honestly you don’t need to worry about that.
