  3. Wheres is the best place to get a replacment fob that works from ??
  4. My wife has lost her key fob but has the spare, if she got a normal key cut off the fob, and used the door lock as normal would it also start the car?? or would she need the imobiliser fob as well??
  5. It all depends if you have android 9 or above to work proprerly
  6. see utube how to sort the cluch problem all you do is adjust the springs
  7. Thought I would update this topic since I started it, I bought a 16 plate 1,4 tsi se at 9k on the clock. Its now done 194000 . Only new bits so far 2 front drop links, battery, aulternator, clutch even though it didnt need it front and rear disks at 140krear and 150k front. small Timeing belt at 160k . Uses no oil between 10k sercices, break pads changed every 50k. still pulls like a train
  8. I bought one 2016 , and its now covered 180,000 miles , only things changed, 1 temp sensor, 2 front drop links, alternator put a new clutch in even though it didn't need at 175,000 but wasn't wanting it to go , only changed the front discs at 150,000 rears at 130 k , cross climates lasting 50k Average fuel consumption 38 to 64 mpg , well pleased
  9. The exhausts on the 1.4 tsi are in 2 parts , but the centre box and back box are on one pipe, can you buy a back box on its own , then cut the pipe to fit it
  10. I was thinking of changing my reflector headlights to projectors so I have a better range of bulbs available, Did any of them come as standard or is there any available from other outlets
  11. Basically remove the headlight back cover as if you're changing a bulb stick the hair dryer in the hole for about 15 mins on high
  12. Remove the back cover and the bulb, then get a hair dryer in the hole to completely dry it out, then replace and see how it goes
  13. Thinking of trading my 1.4 tsi manual, 110,000 miles for a dsg, but what 150 octavia has the 6 speed dsg, or even superb, all the adverts dont tell you
  14. Has anyone fitted spotlights to their Octavia, and how would it be achieved
  15. The bolt on the pully end of the high pressure fuel rail had become slack enough to allow number 1 injector to spray fuel out into the engine bay. New seals on all 4 injectors and new bolts fitted with lock tight and back on the road , cost £192.
  16. That sounds about right, hopefully a new bolt will fix it and new seals.
  17. Well after 107,000 miles, I have had my first breakdown, and nearly no car. Went out tried to start it, it just tied to start but wouldn't, then I could smell petrol, had a look under the bonnet but couldn't see anything, tried again nothing, Mechanic came out and I turned it over as he looked, he found that fuel was coming from the rail that runs across the front of the engine, and that it would need taking to his garage. he called and said after a better look that it could be an injector seal, and it would need the front of the engine stripping down to get to it and replace. what we cannot understand is I went out to the car last night at 10pm it started and drove fine , came home parked got out and went back out at 11am to get this problem. anyone else had it , or similar??/
  18. I had to put my mind at rest, LED bulbs are ok as long as they are aligned ok, and have a similar beam pattern, I ask my 3 local MOT testers , only HID swill fail the MOT
  19. no as long as they are aligned correctly and give the right kick off they pass
  20. Im not sure but is there a fuel cut off somewhere near the boot, that possibly needs reset
  21. https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/twenty20-compact-led-headlight-bulbs-H7-pair.html Bought these straight swap, and work like a normal H7 ,even the kick lines are the same but good light with no dazzle, with bog standard reflector headlights
  22. I was speaking to a fellow taxi driver who has the 2ltr diesel Octavia, he was on about having to leave the car in gear, as the hand break lets itself off sometimes , he has said that when it first happened someone came to his door to say his car was half way across his road , he had it checked out and no faults where found , so he leaves it in gear now but had come out to the leaver being in the down position 3 more times over a year, Has anyone else had this problem, or is there a fix??
  23. 79 mile run A roads average 50 mph, It has never gone over 35mph average for some reason, even on a 480 mile trip from Scotland to Plymouth, still had 200 miles left in the tank
  24. Should be around 38 40 mpg for town work , that's what i get in my manual, and have had 65 on a long run , set the driving to normal
  25. This is taxi miles , so far 2 sets of pads all round , 4 tyres, always use cross climates, one cold start sensor, should have been free under warranty but it was quicker to pay £29, oil and filters changed every 10k oh and new st of plugs at 80k, returning an average 42 mpg local and 56 to 62 long runs.
