  1. thanks, have already investigated the pollen filter problem and am now sure that it is the door that is causing the problem because of water is pooling at the bottom of the door by the rubber seal around the edge of the bodywork and no other door is doing this! Are the door cards easy to take off ?
  2. after some investigation and a sudden down pour of rain i have noticed that one particular door, the passenger front door when i open it there is alot of water that is around the door rubber seal and the kickplate. All other doors are not showing water in these areas. Could i have a faulty door membrane inside the door which is letting water into the car ? Are these membranes replaceable or expensive ? thanks
  3. thank you for answering that. Are these plenum drain holes different to the ones under the battery and brake servo or am i just getting confused now ?
  4. ah i see, if i did put it in a plastic bag then i guess there is a chance of condensation which isn't good either!! Is the pollen filter housing the only area i should be worried about water entering ? Also i still don't quite understand what the plenum chambers are ? thanks
  5. i have had another look today after a nights rain and from what i can see water runs under the pollen tray filter between that and the bodywork and is pooling on the front edge closest to the engine. I was thinking if i remove the pollen filter tray completely, use some sealant in place of the foam seal and then create a seal using sealant between the filter tray and bodywork, do you reckon that should work ? Also had a look under the passenger carpet and there are traces of water but there isn't pools and pools of water. I have found that the comfort control module is in a black plastic box which appears to have a rubber seal between the box and lid and a rubber boot around the wire that goes into the box. What i want to know is how does the water get into the comfort control module ? Does that much water really go down there and rise above the box ? Would it be worth putting the box inside a plastic bag to protect it even more ? My original pool of water was on top the carpet and it doesn't appear as wet underneath the carpet, is it possible water runs down on top the carpet instead of underneath it ? thanks
  6. ok thanks :( How much does a re-con gearbox cost ?
  7. ok thanks, was just wondering if it was a good time whilst have the other work done but i guess i won't bother now lol. Is there any adjustment that could be done instead when it is all put back together or will 2nd gear be the same ? Why is it so crap, the rest of the gears are fine. Yes as the box warms up it is better but even then if changing down from 3rd to 2nd you can sometimes catch the gear and it snaggs if you know what i mean ? thanks
  8. Quick question. If i wanted to change my 2nd gear synchro, would the gearbox need stripping apart or if a clutch and flywheel change is already being done would there be much more work involved to change it ? Reason i am thinking about changing it is my 2nd gear is very snatchy and not at all smooth like all the other gears. thanks
  9. ok thanks for your help. So am i right in thinking that there are no actual drain holes near the pollen filter just the drain bungs under the servo and battery ? Water goes into the car through the foam seal that isn't very good ?
  10. thank you everyone for your help. Will the pollen filter housing come out complete with the gutter attached or does that need to be removed first ? Also i still can't find the drain holes people are mentioning that when get blocked water rises above the pollen filter and enters the car, can anyone point me in the right direction please ? thanks again
  11. Got in my car this morning and had a big pool of water in my passenger front foot well!! I have read the guide on here and had a quick look at the pollen filter area today but am a little bit confused. Can anyone answer these questions for me. Where are the drain holes near the pollen filter ? How does the water enter the car through the pollen filter? What part of the pollen filter housing do i need to seal and why ? The drains under the battery, if they get blocked how does the water enter the car here? Can the drains be modified so they don't let water into the car ? Thanks for your help.
  12. i have managed to find a set of clocks for my superb for £100 second hand as dealer wanted £590 +vat!!!!! But before i purchase them, does anyone know if a second hand set of clocks can be programmed for my car as i hae been told that they can only be programmed once (mileage i think), is this correct does anybody know ? thanks
  13. If i can get the garage to get me a replacement Dashpod can anyone tell me if they are easy to fit ? If you remove the cowling around the steering wheel are there screws under there to remove the dashpod instrument cluster or is it a bit more involved than that ? thanks
  14. oh yeah, just found it. Never knew that was there. Do you mean that it will stop the buttons lighting up on the steering wheel at night ? Also when the cruise is on there is no indication on the dashboard cluster, is that right ?
  15. where is the small round button located exactly ?
  16. thanks, are these dashpods easyish to get out and swap for another ?
  17. Sorry i think i mean the maxi dot display in between the clocks, it's the one that shows the radio station in the top section, mpg in the middle and temperature in the bottom section. Do i need a new instrument cluster then ?
  18. Where the car displays mpg etc in the multi functional display between the rev counter and the speedo, i now have what looks like 1 black horizontal line. Are these units replaceable ? Is it easy to do or is it expensive ? thanks
  19. off to the local harbour tomorrow to find an anchor
  20. ok so i guess i better learn to live with it then  Do you think that it is a design fault on the clutch's part or purely down to how it has been driven in the past ?
