  1. Apologies for this question as there's bound to be a simple answer... Is it possible to actually have the clock displayed on the Columbus screen when it is standby mode? This is on a 2020 (July build) Superb iV Sportline Plus with a MIB3 Columbus. I've tried ticking 'show clock in standby mode' and 'display clock when screen is off' but I have never managed to get the clock to appear - apart from the standard digital clock at the top of the screen. No difference if the Columbus is doing it's own thing or I've switched it on. My morning commute is only 5 miles, so I don't really need the nav screen up (might do as I get older....!). The car is an ex demo and I remember choosing a clock design when I first configured the infotainment system but I haven't seen it since! PS I have tried the online and hard copy manuals as well as searching here!
  2. I see your Sportline Plus and raise you one in the sunshine, awesome colour
  3. Yes, I slipped the window rubbers back and that was easy and give a perfect finish line to the seen part. I managed to curb any OCD failings to the line you can only see when the door is open, it's good but not perfect! The final shape was also dictated a bit by the window frame shape (edges and fold lines) to ensure the Fablon stuck down nicely. I did the long runs in single pieces then short bits for the tighter curves. The black absorbs light well which makes the pictures difficult but you don't see the joins in real life. I used masking tape for the initial templates, pencil line, cut out and transfer to the Fablon backing and use that Fablon piece for the mirror image for the opposite door. When I had the Yetis I was always going to do it but never did. The first Yeti was white so wasn't too bad and I coped with the bronze of the second two Yetis (L&K brown leather interior) and with the Citigo there was no choice - there was more red paint on the inside of the doors than black panels. With the really high quality Sportline Plus interior on the Superb, it had to be done. It came out better than I thought and am very pleased with the finished job.
  4. Then, still on the red theme, for some inexplicable reason I detest seeing the paint on the window frames. I've managed to cure those feelings of hatred by applying black velvet Fablon (sticky black plastic). I made up templates with masking tape and it's come out perfectly on the front and rear doors.
  5. With a Velvet Red machine, you can really only have red ambient lighting (in my humble opinion), so I took the easy route and applied some rear light repair tape to the footwell lights, works a treat (pictures are slightly washed out by the garage lights).
  6. Have a read on this thread, hopefully answers answered!
  7. Early days with mine but I found that if you are in 'Sport' mode then the default setting seems to be to use the ICE predominantly and also to charge the battery, then go to 'e' mode and you're running just on battery. Looking at the online Owner's Manual: https://manual.skoda-auto.com/210/en-GB/models?_ga=2.81901075.447734611.1618487548-79251138.1607013904&_gac=1.238349620.1616422251.EAIaIQobChMI8OjTr4XE7wIVS-rtCh14jAJ4EAAYASAAEgLztvD_BwE Under 'Select Drive' and 'Operation':
  8. Personally, I think I like all the available colours but some really do change with the light. Velvet Red is something else when the sun's out. Of course I am biased - but I liked the Yeti in Terracotta Bronze, so I know what I'm talking about....
  9. 2020 Velvet Red Superb iV Sportline Plus
  10. Newbie Superb iV owner here of only two weeks.... After a Fabia vRS, three 170hp diesel Yetis (the last one with a Shark Performance remap) and a Citigo Monte Carlo it was time to change. I bought the Citigo as my yearning for mechanical sympathy meant my commute that went from 30 miles each way to 4.5 just wasn't an option for a big diesel so the Yeti was retained for the longer journeys. I had thought of leasing an Enyaq and the figures just about worked (many, many spreadsheets of justification) but the final straw was the HM Gov changes with the EV grant so it was back to my pre-Enyaq thinking of a Superb iV. I've always liked the Superb and especially the Mk 3, something clicked when I went to Allams open evening for the Kodiaq and there was Jeff Allam's black Superb Sportline in the showroom. The seed was sown. So, another few spreadsheets later of what ex-demo Superb iVs were about let me to Caffyns of Tunbridge Wells who had a 6 month old, 4400 mile Velvet Red example for sale. This one is a Sportline Plus with heated screen and reversing camera. It's also got various options such as traffic sign recognition and blind spot warning, so quite well spec'd. I liked pretty much all of the colours but the Velvet Red (like many Skoda colours) is something else when the sun comes out. Seats are great and alcantara so no need for the heater on all the time! Now about the lack of postcode input into the satnav.... Incidentally, I looked briefly at an Octavia vRS iV but was slightly wary of the current software etc issues and the Superb iV has similar genes to my sister in law's Golf GTE and is pretty well proven. The insurance for the Superb is 30% less than the Octavia vRS. A deal was struck with Caffyns which is around 29% of list. The car was trailered to me (120 miles) and my two taken away in part ex. The deal was fine, the car needed a good polish (which it has now had!) and there are a couple of minor dents in the roof that Caffyns will remove next week FOC (golf tees in a door pocket may be a clue to the dents...). Dashcams fitted and a bumper protector. Oh, and the Vegas will be the winter wheels - there's a set of Supernovas going on when I nip down to Caffyns.... I've only driven 300 miles or so to date but it is brilliant and slightly overwhelming trying to suss out what it is doing and what I think I need to be doing.... I'm used to 'glass cockpits' in light aircraft but the sheer number of variations in the Virtual Cockpit means you'll never get bored on a journey! On a trip I do regularly (105 miles there and then back again) there's a mix of 10 miles of town driving and 95 miles of dual carriageway in the middle. I stayed in electric mode for the town bits, then 'sport' hybrid for the main drive but sat at 65 mph or so. The final electric range said 12 miles so at 10 to go, I went to that and still ended up with 6 left. Game to play will be getting it closer to zero when I get home. Charging to date has been via the 13 amp plug - also on Octopus Go with an EO Mini 2 being installed next week through Octopus. Last night I charged from 2330 hrs at 20% (4 mile range) and it was up to 100% by 0630 hrs MySKODA app showed 24 miles of range but when I set off that went to 26 miles. Cost for that charge on the smartmeter was £1. Me thinks my fuel consumption/cost spreadsheet I had for the Yeti and Citigo is going to be a bit more complex.... Fun times to be had, I'm sure but suffice to say, so far, I am delighted with it.
  11. Definitely, Terracotta Bronze is one of those colours (quite common with Skodas!) that really comes to life in differing lights and is unfortunately, a victim of its own scarcity. I really like it too. I hope TIBET's new owner finds their way here (the Briskoda sticker is/was still on the rear window). Keep waving the bronze Yeti flag, Brijo!
  12. Well, today was definitely a day of mixed emotions.... It was time to say goodbye to TIBET III, the third of my CR170 Yetis, TIBET I having been possibly the first CR170 to be ordered in the UK and I took delivery in December 2009. Following a change of jobs three years ago, a reasonable (for a diesel) commute was going to be a 4.5 mile commute so I bought a great little Citigo Monte Carlo for the commute and kept the Yeti for the longer trips. This was always going to be a temporary option as it didn't make much sense to run two cars - apart from my in built mechanical sympathy! I briefly looked at the possibilities of an Enyaq but the reduction in the government EV grant forced me back to Plan A - a Superb iV Sportline Plus. So, whilst the sorrow of seeing the Yeti (and Citigo) departing on a trailer in part exchange, I have now a beautiful Superb iV to learn all about. And there's a lot to learn! Now, if anyone want a brilliant, high spec Yeti (or a very nice Citigo!), best you get in touch with Caffyns Skoda at Tunbridge Wells. I doubt the will have it on the forecourt as it's 7 years old and completed a tad under 90k miles. As an L&K it has all the standard toys plus various other factory options and a Shark STS remap. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it (well, only an intermittent and untrue reversing light fail indication fail due to the LED bulbs), it averaged 47 mpg driven sensibly. Have fun, everyone with your Yetis, it is a truly brilliant piece of design and if they'd been an electric version, I would have had one in a heartbeat! Lots of good gen on this section of Briskoda - everyone's help and assistance has been really appreciated over the years.
  13. aerofurb replied to vrskeith's topic in Skoda Enyaq
After reading danny_f's post about salary sacrifice deal, I thought perhaps an Enyaq might be a possibility after all. I checked with Octopus (my energy supplier) but then they rang me and said they'll can only deal with a company where there are 4 or 5 interested parties. Working for a small company of 16 where 1/3 are part time admin staff, that isn't going to happen. Octopus kindly put me in touch with Fleet Evolution who will deal with 'single' salary sacrifice applicants. Slightly more expensive than Octopus, at £450/mth for an Enyaq 80 with metallic paint, heat pump and fast charge. It is an immense amount of money but working out the true costs of running the Yeti (long journeys) and Citigo (short commute) then there isn't a lot of difference when you take into account the lease includes everything - insurance, tyres, servicing, breakdown cover, courtesy car etc. The 80 would be ideal as I have (under normal circumstances) a regular 210 mile round trip at weekends so there and back on one charge. I was still undecided until today when the loss of the grant has scuppered any EV plans for the time being. Back to looking at nearly new Superb iV, me thinks.
  14. aerofurb replied to skoda1982's topic in Skoda Enyaq
Perhaps the UK spec Enyaq heat pump is cheaper as it is only there to help keep the battery at its optimum temperature (to maximise driving range) according to the build configurator - still. Unlike the rest of the world (and the Enyaq's VW cousins) where it actually heats the cabin.... I can give no rational reason why this misinformation annoys me - but it does!
  15. I’ve bought loads of stuff (never possibly too much...) from Superskoda over the last 10 years and have never had an issue with the orders or a problem with replies to emails. They’ve also got stuff in for me from the Skoda CZ eShop that they don’t normally stock. No doubt others have had issues but people tend to highlight bad rather than good service, that’s a fact of life!
  16. If you're after good quality calliper paint, I used this: BITS4REASONS - NEW MODEL E-TECH BRAKE CALIPER PROFESSIONAL GRADE PAINT KIT- PERFORMANCE HIGH TEMPERATURE RATED TO 220 C GRAPHITE: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike One kit has done the all four callipers (in 'graphite') on the Yeti and the front callipers and rear drums on the Citigo. Brushed on easily onto the callipers and hubs/drums and has lasted well. Still some left over in the tin. Almost looks like the Citigo has discs on the rear.... Loads of different colours available.
  17. I suspect that badges for the Monte Carlo models are the metallic black ('black magic' colour). I bought Monte Carlo mirror covers for the Yeti and these are the same. In reality, you're hard pushed to notice, it's not very metallic.
  18. Thanks for the question and the answers - I'm probably (almost definitely...!) going to go down the Superb iV route next, so real world experience is invaluable.
  19. PS A better link: Exterior : kopacek.com is now KOPACEK.COM Skoda on page 2 and Superb and 4x4 on page 3. Incidentally, I did try using 'Plasti Dip' initially on a new OEM chrome Yeti badge but that wasn't very successful so just sprayed them in standard primer and gloss black paint and it's fine.
  20. Another Superb interloper.... I bought the Skoda and 4x4 badges for my Yeti from Superskoda. I had to buy and spray the Yeti badge black as it was never produced in black. It looks like the Skoda Superb 4x4 are all available. Emblems : kopacek.com is now KOPACEK.COM To get them off, I gave up with dental floss and very carefully used 0.025" stainless locking wire to 'saw' through the adhesive pads. No marks left in the paint. L&K badges done on a vinyl cutter....
  21. It is the official Skoda workshop manual that dealers use (unless someone can tell me differently). Whether or not it is the latest edition, I can't confirm but it works for me. There is everything you need to know in there with words and clear diagrams. Some basic stuff comes under the maintenance section and then the non-standard maintenance items are in the other specific sections. it also lists what maintenance items are due when - funny how dealers (perhaps led astray by Skoda UK...) apply there own maintenance/replacement periods to quite a few items. I always assumed, the dealers went by the workshop manual and the car's service history. Apparently not! Example screen shot attached....
  22. I bought and downloaded the Yeti workshop manual from here: Skoda Archives - easymanuals.co.uk Works 100%, linked PDF etc - no timing out once it's saved to your PC, not sure I'd want to pay by the hour....
  23. I downloaded the official Skoda workshop manual for the Yeti from easymanuals.co.uk - download your workshop service repair manual All worked fine, I downloaded straight to the PC. PDF links work throughout the manual. Good value I reckon. Superb III here: Skoda Superb III PDF Workshop Service & Repair Manual 2015-2019 - easymanuals.co.uk
  24. As a PS to this subject... Skoda at Milton Keynes (who is now part of the Marshalls group) called me this morning inviting me to take my Yeti there for its service and MOT. I explained I wouldn't be going back there following my last visit with the Citigo and did explain exactly why. As a follow up to my words earlier, at lunchtime, the After Sales Manager called me, listened and understood all of my points - he was there during the wheel bolt discussion.... Furthermore, he said that he was aware that the Citigo cam belt is an 'inspection only/replace on condition' call by Skoda (as opposed to the Skod UK default setting of change it on calendar time) and had reset their systems to not tell customers that their Citigo cam belt was due a change. The conversation went a long way in restoring my faith in Skoda MK and at least this dealer is being pro-active in customer service. (I actually serviced the Yeti over the Christmas break myself and will use the local MOT testing station)
