  1. Thanks for the advice. Given the sub zero temperatures and my need to keep the car running, I got the tray replaced at a local garage. Can thoroughly recommend Brookroyd garage at Killinghall, near Harrogate. (A specialist Skoda garage, without the main dealer prices) Once Skoda delivered the right tray I got it fitted with full set of replacement clips for £135, including a car wash. Even got an Octavia vRS to go to/from work in for the day. Car is quieter already and hope to get back into the 50+ mpg, rather than 45ish.
  2. With all the snow and ice, I seem to have broken the plastic engine 'undertray', which covers the sump. it is split down the middle and hanging loose. Anybody know how much they might be, best place to purchase and will it do any damage to drive it without one for a while? My car is a 2004 1.9 Diesel. thanks Ebuyergum
  3. Rear drivers door not unlocking and spontaneous flashing of interior light when driving - lifted front passenger side carpet and found it was damp! Dried off with my wife's hairdryer and although the CCM black housing had some water in, the main box was luckily bone dry. I pulled off the wiring loom joint seals and dryed/ WD40'd then (no real corrosion - will clean and resolder after Christmas). Luckily the rear door now opens. I removed the three 10mm nuts from the pollen housing but can't seem to get the housing out. I have tried to remove the plastic drain channel above it, but am afraid to break it. Will try the duct tape as a temporary measure (thanks rotodiesel) - but has anyone got any tips on how to get the housing out, so I can silicon seal it properly? Also, rear footwell trim is hard to lift out at the back seat - any tricks on this? Need to dry under rear carpet, as it is damp their too.
  4. I replaced the offside rear trim a couple of weeks ago. Tracked them down to here - Garage Equipment, Car Workshop Tools, Motor Parts and Accessories, Nationwide, UK - Skoda Parts & Accessories £13.99 for rear but £8.99 postage. Local Skoda garage sorted me our with one for about £15, so went for that. Very easy to take off and replace. Managed to get the car in the sun for a while and the adhesive came off virtually in one go.
  5. Obvious place is ebay. I have been looking and have narrowly missed out on a few sets. Genuine VW/Skoda wheels turn up sometimes, but mainly copies.
  6. Many thanks. I managed to get it off last night. I also managed to take a small chunk of skin off my finger too i the process! Anyway, phoned my nearest Skoda dealer and was quoted only a few pounds for a replacement. As soon as I asked, the guy said that the rubber coating is really prone to flaking off.
  7. Mine is the Classic and does not have cruise control. Am considering getting it retro fitted, as I would find it useful. It wasn't until I drove it at night that I realised it had door footwell lights! Quite a good spec, even on the basic model.
  8. Can anyone tell me if there is a knack to getting the passenger door handle trim off? From earlier postings I found a link and have bought and fitted a new driver door handle trim, from ebay. Unfortunately the guy 'vwtrims', does not have the correct passenger door trim too. Was thinking of taking it off and removing the rest of the flaking covering. Might get the part number too and see how much it would cost from a dealer. Only minor but the rest of the interior is immaculate, so thought it worth the effort.
  9. I paid £4250. It has an MOT to end of June and taxed until May. I think it is alot of car for the money.
  10. Have just found this forum a few days after purchasing a Skoda Superb. It is a 2004 silver Classic 100PD, with no alloys, no folding seats, no umbrella etc. The bodywork is pretty much perfect (odd scuff) and the interior is immaculate. It has a FSSH and has done 52k. I bought it from a colleague from work, so I know the history is good - he sold it because his wife found it hard to park and he now has a new Octavia. I am just selling my old Nissan Primera GT on ebay and thought I would make some comparisons. At first I thought the performance would be well down (13s 0-60, compared with 8.5s) but am pleased by the usability of the diesel engine. The ride is definitely softer and the room in the back is enormous - the kids love it. It is much quieter at speed and is showing nearly 55mpg over the first 250 miles! I am intending to keep it for a while and tow a caravan. The old Thule Primera roof rack will fit with some new feet (£20) and I have ordered a rubber boot liner too. When back home from holiday I will silicon the pollen filter holder and check out the drain holes. The pinch bolts might be seized already, but I will get my local garage to check them out, after soaking with some penetrating oil. Very please with the car so far - hope it will be as reliable as my old Primera. One good thing I noticed on the PD100 engine is the emissions are 149g/km, so only £120 for road tax. Great forum - I will keep coming back...
