  1. Update! The Skoda dealer has taken the car back and are issuing a refund. Now it's time to look at our options. Audi Q3 s line 1.4 dsg possibly.. I wish those of you who are pursuing your dealers for a fix or other all the best. Don't give up!
  2. I'm in complete agreement. I've never had to adjust my driving style for a car to perform as I'd expect it to. Skoda has acknowledge to me "THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM" with the 1.5tsi ! Our car is with the garage over 2 weeks and they provided us with a loan car 1.6tdi Karoq. After 2 weeks of silence from Skoda and the garage we've informed them that we do not want the car back and are working on a complete refund. Just so inform people on here. Skoda Ireland and possibly Skoda themselves are monitoring this thread and the T-roc forum also. I'd sent them a link to both. If posted on a boards website here on Ireland and I'm aware that they are monitoring that thread even though I never provided them a link to that thread! Interesting.
  3. Skoda Ireland have said they know there is a problem but they don't have a solution and they don't know when they'll have a solution. Apparently Skoda Europe know about the issue too. So it's a matter of time before they come out with a solution. It could be a week or 6 months, who knows! My wife has lost confidence in her car and the Skoda brand and doesn't hold much hope that they'll fix it in the next week. We're being offered a courtesy car (karoq 1.6 TDI) so in order to take her car off the road as my wife almost had a big accident with our kids in the car when the car stalled when she pulled out at busy junction and was almost T boned
  4. Thanks for that. We're going back to the dealer to make an official complaint and give then an ultimatum. Fix it within 2 weeks or were formally rejecting the car.
  5. My wife brought her car into our local Skoda dealer today with the first gear issue. When collecting the car she spoke to the service manager. They confirmed that there is an issue with the car in first gear and that they spoke to Skoda Ireland regarding a solution. Skoda Ireland told the dealer not touch the car and they have acknowledged that they know about the problem, but that they don't have a solution at present. But they're may be a possible software update in the future. My wife is very pi**ed off about this reply and feels like she's being fobbed off and I can't blame her to be honest. The car has cut out numerous times with our 3 and 5 year old in the car. In fairness it restarts automatically, but there is still a delay in getting the car moving again, so its a safety hazard particularly at a major busy junction. We've decided to push Skoda on the issue and if they can't resolve the issue in a reasonably timeframe. We'll take it further and speak to a solicitor and try reject the car as its not fit for purpose, also on safety grounds.
  6. It's good to see that there is a software update available from skoda for this 1.5 tsi engine. People need to insist on it being installed if they're having this problem
  7. I'll be visiting my Skoda dealership this afternoon to complain. The wife loves the car apart from the this issue and the wind noise. It's off topic, but can anyone who's fitted wind deflectors to their Karoq noticed a reduction in wind noise on the motorway?
  8. So does skoda have a software fix for this or not? My wife has the 1.5 manual and its been hopping from day 1. I've experienced the issue myself and we each have over 30yrs driving experience. Its a software issue not a driving style issue.
  9. Run flats in general create more road noise that standard tires. Although it can vary a great deal depending on the brand and model of tyre. So far I'm happy with the level of road noise. Running Pirelli P7. I'll probably be going to Goodyear or Michelin when their gone.
  10. We'll after trying to complete a deal with my local Skoda dealer in Ireland, western motors, I decided to go an alternative route. They weren't doing me any favours on the deal considering it was the last 245 rs in the country and it would be slow to sell at 41500 euro. So I bought myself a 2017 BMW 330e M sport. Being a year old it cost me 8k less than the rs would have and I got an additional 1.5k more for my car. So far I'm very happy with my purchase. I've been in the VAG stable for over 20 years, with cars ranging from 2 X gti's, 1 X vrs, 2 x CC, 3 X A6. So I'm a little disappointed that the rs deal couldn't be completed but after owning the BMW a week or so now, I believe I made the right decision. It's fast comfortable, economical. It's my first BMW, first rwd and first hybrid. With my job a 20kms round trip I run on batteries they're and back. So I'll save plenty in petrol. Then when I feel like a bit of fun I combine the two and it comes alive. Anyway I'll be still kinda attached to VAG as my wife has a karoq being delivered in a couple of weeks. Think I might sell my vcds kit now..
  11. I though that coolant leak was resolved on the later engines.. I looked at a 14 gti a month ago and it had a coolant leak
  12. There is one manual version in stock. I believe all GTi, R, vRS, Cupra cars going forward will come with DSG only..
  13. I might try get a so I'm a diesel rs as it might be close enough to the petrol in road noise. The wife doesn't like the idea of my buying a gti as she thinks it's not a family car. So I'm begin persuaded to look at the RS.bi do like the RS but I don't think I could keep a car 4-5 years of the road noise is poor
  14. I'm thinking of purchasing a new 245 RS and I have one concern, road noise and in general, refinement. I had a 08 170 mk 2 RS that my wife currently still drives until her karoq arrives next month. And I hearing that the MK3 RS road noise hasn't improved much over the mk 2 RS. It's this the case? I haven't driven mk 3 petrol rs as they are rare here in Ireland, so any opinions, experience of similar would be welcome. Would there be much difference in refinement between the RS and a gti performance?
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I'm looking to go back to petrol and it's not helping my choice.
