  1. It was amazing. I really enjoyed it, but I was on edge the whole time as I punctured the side wall of my front o/s tyre right at the beginning on a jagged rock under water. I discovered at the end, that the rear o/s tyre was also punctured on the side wall (probably on the same rock) but thankfully was a slow puncture, so just pumped it up a couple of times on the way home. Two new tyres on order. I doubt the Yeti would make it due to it being so much lower with a lot less ground clearance. The water I went through was a least twice the wading depth of the Yeti, and probably more. There was a standard Freelander with us for part of the weekend, but it was scraping the ground all the time, as lots of places there was no option but to use the ruts. The standard Freelander we thought would not have made it along Strata Florida. I had no clearance issues with the extra 70mm that I have, which made al difference. It really impressed the guys I was with who had lifted P38 and a lifted Defender 90. I didn't take it down Happy Valley because, not having rock sliders, I would have modified the side of my car on the rocks in not a good way. It had the clearance though to cope.
  2. The garage must have seen her coming. You can get many replacements for that. In fact you could buy another one for that! My TD4 auto isn't too bad. Averages about 5mpg less than my Yeti did.
  3. The only options to get are all of them. That's what I did when I bought mine. Then add more that Skoda should be offering. Somebody out there got a bargain when I part exchanged mine for this...
  4. I haven't noticed beards, but I have noticed almost every Yeti driver around here is well into their retirement.
  5. That would have been fun. I popped over to Wales and did this: Because I got my slightly modified, FL muddy,
  6. I'm in Wales at the moment. Been having fun off-road. Here is my Freelander yesterday. P1060952 by MikesYeti, on Flickr
  7. She was sold to Sparshatts of Wareham. Note sure what happened after that.
  8. Here it is will some new tyres all round. IMG_2581 by MikesYeti, on Flickr I think that I now have around 70mm extra ground clearance over a standard Freelander. I fitted 225/65R17 General Grabber AT tyres.
  9. The extended pipes or the 3 days offl-roading
  10. Only that I preferred not towing the caravan
  11. Extended my breather pipes for the rear diff, IRD, auto box and the turbo vent filter. I'm going on an off-roading trip next weekend. Three days of Green Lanes etc. should be great fun.
  12. Had a little problem with the hard wiring for the Tom Tom. A loose +ve lead. Fitted new connector and all fine now. Fitted a Power Magic box for my front BlackVue camera. It will now stay on till the battery voltage drops to a pre-defined point then it will power off.
  13. Looking good. I could always deliver it to you, and you could give me a lift back in the R35...
  14. I had problems with my battery on my Yeti. It did not hold its charge very well. In the cold freezing weather on 2 occasions it failed to start. I did leave my Blackview cameras on and in park mode. The car was only left for 36 hours. It was fine in the warmer weather. Skoda Assist came out the first time, and they said that the batteries fitted to Skoda's were not of very god quality, it was one of the areas that they cut costs. My Freelander as far as I can tell, is still on the original battery and it is almost 8 years old and is much better than my Yeti one ever was. Get a good quality battery.
  15. Having had a diesel DSG Yeti, it is about the same economy as the 1.2petrol DSG. They have the aerodynamics of a brick, but my current car, a Freelander 1, is even worse! If fuel consumption is important, then the Yeti is not the car for you. No SUV has great fuel economy, the Touran would be better for you as it has the extra height, or even a Golf Plus. Don't bother with Skoda Navigation. I had a Columbus in my last 2 Skoda's. They are a great, but very expensive piece of kit. My Tom Tom GO6000 is way better. Park Assist was brilliant and I used it all the time in London. The electric seat is a must, as some people complain that they can't get the seating position right, but the electric chair moves in more planes than the manual chair. The nearside door mirror dips when reverse is selected as well.
  16. I had a chat with the guys as I was driving past today - they were going home at about 7:30pm. I was under the impression that the down pipe has now arrived... can that be really true?
  17. And making the car lower. It is a problem with all vehicles of the Yeti's height and above. My Freelander suffers this as well.
  18. Is that white one pretending it is an expensive car from the new world?
  19. They have traded under many names over the years. They are a very short walk from home. I'm just going to have a wander over later!!!! I know Reuben & co.
  20. Aerodynamics and the weather play havoc with fuel consumption. Now my Freelander is an auto TD4, but the principles are the same. Driving up the motorway at about 65/70mph with 2 bicycles on the back and filled to window height with gear against a high wind and rain, it returned 33mpg. On the slower windy roads up and over the Highlands it went up to 36mpg. Driving it home, keeping the speed down, in still weather it returned 41.7mpg on the motorway. I have been told though that it is all downhill from Scotland to South London  My Freelander is 40mm higher than a regular one and 70mm higher than a sport, so this makes things worse as well, not withstanding the even worse drag co-efficient to start with And of course, it is remapped.......
  21. Just got back home. 2000 miles driven. Average fuel consumption coming back down the motorway was 41.7mpg. Best ever, and the car was fairly well laden along with 2 bikes on a towball mounted bike rack. Really happy with the car, it now feels sorted after all the work I have had done on it. Now time to put the summer tyres back on......
  22. Currently I'm up on the Isle of Skye, hang been here for almost 2 weeks now. The remap is great and given the car a new lease of life.....I can now overtake slower vehicles, knowing I can get past. Its not pocket rocket like the Yeti was, but it is now much more usable. Here is is feeling like it is on top of the world at the top of the Bealach na Bà pass
