Mapping diesels always helps, but I was always of the impression petrols were the opposite.

I would normally totally agree with you yet the 230 & 245 both get the similar economy as the 220 so it feels like there is a bit of headroom.

My old PD170 MK2 found another 5mpg after a stage 1 map...of course using my right foot more immediately rendered this useless.

@Joco776 What's the differences out of interest between 4.68 and 4.80? Are there any release notes? Mine seems to be working fine since the upgrade - cheers

Skoda don't release patch notes of the updates.
However if you load in the new FW then prior to update it will show you roughly what modules are being updated

Surprised by the suggestion that the springs can sag in such a short time but if that is the case and the OP tows then that should be looked at.

In all my years I'd never considered the one plus one of me towing being the reason my rear tracking wandered.

Feeling like a bit of a **** with this realisation 🤦‍♂️

  4. Had a RARB fitted years ago on my MK3 and it was a lovely update on the steering input. Much sharper and less roll.

Had the Hunter alignment done with this. IMO laser alignment is well worth it for handling and even tyre wear.

I have always found that Octavia's sag a little in the rear after a year or so causing inside shoulder wear. Combine that with the array of potholes about ATM and you'll be surprised how far out tracking can be.

  5. I have a 08 Pre-FL vRS PD Octavia with duel climate control.

The right hand knob on the climate control has always adjusted both sides of the temp read outs, when the left knob is turned it controls just the passenger side.

Recently due to my own stupid fault the battery ran dead flat. I installed another with no issues and everything was find until i tried to use the climate control of which it appears to have swapped into LHD mode.

The right knob now only controls the drivers climate while the left hand knob controls both!

While not life ending it is really annoying!

I have had a float about on the forums and also in VCDS but i can't find any kind of coding option to revert it to RHD mode.

    Can anyone help?

  6. Yes they can be adjusted, you need to put them in learn mode first using vcds then adjust as normal.

This is a huge must. If they aren't in learn mode when you manually adjust the motors will hit the bottom/ top of their adjustment and break.

Once in learn mode there is two simple socket screws on the inside edge of each light. Visible when the bonnet is up.

  7. I have an 80 mile a day commute round, for the large part, the M25; a road well known for being a car park.

For this reason I leave the traffic reports (TP) on for most of the drive as to be notified to either take another way home or prepare for the long haul!

The other day I hit the back of traffic and realised that the radio hadn't chirped up once with the traffic reports. Since then I've come to the conclusion the function has entirely ceased to work?! I've tried many configurations of turning off and on the TP/ car and nothing seems to work?

Can anyone shed any light? Its a 58 P-FL PD170 vRS with a factory Stream MP3 and jumbo box.

  8. Thinking of sticking on 17" steelies with thick tyres (225/50/17) to give it a more military feel. I was originally going to invest in some 3SDM 0.01 alloys in matte black, but the cost (inc. tyres) is out of reach for now.

Have a look at Extreme Offset Wheels.

They have some pretty sweet steelies that would look sweet on this.

I love the first concept...very Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird

    5. Got some official car mats but not clear how they marry up with floor studs (see pics)? Do I have to cut the centre rubber out so studs push through and hopefully lock or are these the wrong mats?

From the very edge of that logo I would say that you could have purchased MK1 Octavia mats and not MK2 ones? Hence the floor studs maybe in the wrong place!?

  10. I drive a PD and have never had the DPF light on. As mentioned above I think it comes down to the type of driving you'll be doing. I do a fair amount of motorway driving and good runs which keep the DPF clear.

Injectors have all been done by Skoda too so no issues there :D

Having never driven the CR I can't comment to much but talking to few people it seems they develop there torque a lot more linearly that the PD which dumps it in a huge lump!
As far as i'm aware if you find a looked after one then neither engine will give you to many issues (famous last words)
