I tow a caravan ( boo hiss) drive many kms in Spain with van attached many long hills, the 170 hp with dsg is brilliant, Pulling out on the A7 road in the Costa Del Sol , most dangerous road in Spain, dual carriageway with not many slipways the combination of DSG in sport mode and 170hp to accelerate and get up to speed is phenomenal. So for me 170hp every time.

PANIC STATIONS, PANIC STATIONS AARRGGHH!
mellyboy replied to smiffy64's topic in Skoda Superb Mk II (2008-2015)
, o Sorry . Should have read your post more carefully. If they now thought they made a mistake then one was was not made and your oil is correct, I now see your dilemma, in view of your concerns would it not be possible for them to drain and refill your box with new oil. This would ease some of your concerns. To think the technician thought he made a mistake to the extent of ringing the customer with alarm bells ringing, then think again and say I did not make a mistake is totally unacceptable and some recompense should be offered to you. -

Looking on the positive side with a guarantee from the manager in writing if a problem does occur it will be rectified , which can only be known by driving, you could end up with a nice new DSG box. Mistakes undoubtedly do happens sometimes, it appears the dealer has handled the situation OK so far. -
Are we robbing the young to feather the older generation's nest?
mellyboy replied to lol-lol's topic in The Roadside Hotel
I was a product of the Secondary Modern System . I have never known any one of my generation who went to uni . I stated work at Fifteen, did an engineering apprenticeship, leant a trade, never had a " Gap year" or swan off to uni to learn some weird subject which will never get one a job. I have never been on the dole, paid tax and insurance for fifty years and and am paid a pittance of a state pension. Uni fee fair, I don't know but it seems that huge numbers will not pay any thing back any how so probably a irrelevant question -

Don't do all this religious mumbo jumbo myself but isn't all this fuss all about celebrating Jesus being born . If one is not a believer should you being celebrating Christmas? I Have been in Spain and Malta for Christmas and in both places Christmas is still very much a religious festival which certainly is not the case here.

My lifestyle is not paid for by my state pension it is by hard work by myself and my wife, I understand your resentment with your circumstances but again you are targeting the wrong section of society. How about using some your venom on the bankers for a .start .

I have paid NI and tax for fifty years never been out of work so feel I am entitled to the pittance of a state pension ; I do have the greatest sympathy for young people starting out in life at this time. I am glad I have had my life when I have. we seem to have a very uncertain future at this present time.
