Is it my imagination that after having cambelt/pump change the car is running smoother and quite.?.

So if the price increases a lot would one have it done 10 months earlier?

Regarding the 2.5 mm tyre. One winter slid into high kerb and damaged the wheel and tyre. No other damage but whilst talking to a guy at the garage he said they have a identical wheel for £10 tyre worn .So no brainer and it has been in boot forever more passing all mots without comment. As for the other points mentioned have to go with the flow . Thanks.

So now done 108775 miles and Skoda say it will be time to change the cambelt, no mention of pump. Price £549, eye watering. Four years ago £350 including pump . Also say front discs and pads at 70% worn , £195. First time for discs, pads once before. Whats the current price from Skoda dealers for these. It has been from new Skoda dealer for everything barring tyres , the spare had gone too 2.5mm, they quoted a figure which I ignored and National done my Bridgestone for £64.46.

Many thanks for that, should have known a cigar socket would not be 5 amp but was going by my handbook saying fuse 24. Anyway changed the 25amp one and all is good

Would appreciate help on this one. I thought that the 5amp fuse had blown but it was sound , further testing and there is no power to fuse 24. I use this socket for satnav, the dash cam is connected from the fuse board. A bit of history in case it helps. My 13 pin socket required renewing and in doing so there was a arc from one of the wires. It seems that all the other functions are ok. Over to you guys. Thanks.

Thanks for replies guys, does that mean you did not replace the metal clip?

Had to but new battery and got it on line. Have had two Octavia's and this is first battery I had to change. What a problem I had , first could not lift it out as the metal clip retainer would not lift sufficient for the lip of battery to come out, Then placing the new one similar problem with clip. Why have the clip that side instead of where you can see it nearest to you. Come to that why did the battery have a lip which has to go under the carrier lip. What I would do in future would to undo the metal clip as far as the retaining bolt allows before dropping out , this would allow battery to push under the lip then towards you under the carrier lip.
