  1. I thought regulations came in to say lightbulbs should be able to be changed in 5 minutes at the roadside, guess not. My facelft Focus was wheel arch liner out job. I was able to reach through the gap to do it, but it scraped my arm and it was just a halogen bulb so probably a lot simpler. My bulbs are probably 5 years old as the car is an 18 plate so I guess that will be a time consuming, or expensive job at some point.
  2. Just picked up a 2018 Superb today from main dealer and my connection drops almost immediately. Have faffed the settings and cleared cache so will give it another go but I also have a Samsung but a Flip Z3 so as my contract is almost up, I may try amd alternative make and see if that solves the problem. Worked fine with just BT connecting calls and music so not a huge hassle, but for the millisecond mirroring worked, it did look cool.
  3. Mid 80s, Lecht ski car park, one cold child skipping afternoon on the slopes due to being wet and frozen. Wonder of that will work with no ignition key. Hmm is it hot.... aaaaaaaaaargh, then couldn't admit it! Had a white and black mark for quite a while!
  4. Thank you! I had, in fact, already done a separates search based on your post above as tbh I had assumed buying all 3 together would be cheaper! Official Thule £350, cheapest kit I could find was £290. Buying separately £206. new feet and adaptor pack and once used bars. Happy with that, given I had just forked out for the set for the stolen Golf!
  5. Hi Petrolcan, I had a look but could only find quite blocky offerings with Skoda brandings. I pick up my 18 plate hatch later this week and will need to get new bars etc as my old set were Golf R estate sized which will not fit. Are there aero bars from Skoda as I am guying from a Skoda dealer and I was going to try for discount on accessories!
  6. Thanks people. Well in the end I went for a 220 Sportline hatch in business grey. It is just too tidy to ignore and 280s are either high miles or other end of the country or more money than I (my wife) want to spend. We have a wee Mini Cooper to razz along back roads but I suspect this will be just about perfect for me.
  7. Thanks @ColinD that is perfect. I think I am leaning more for subtlety after the R attracted the thieves. Got a test drive lined up on Saturday for an 18 plate 220 sportline with the canton and winter pack. I had an E class estate before the Golf and I rather liked a wafty barge. I had a MKII Superb with just the 140bhp diesel and it was nippy enough and handled surprisingly well for such a large car.
  8. In my defense the TT and Golf were stolen last week! I am test driving a Superb on Saturday though so fingers crossed I will be back in a VAG soon.
  9. On my Golf R and I think my TTS and both Super and Yeti which all had auto lights, I am sure when they are on the wee light with rays goes green on the actual switch? Not the easiest thing to see when driving ad I cannot check as I am currently VAGless.
  10. Afternoon all, looking to get back into a Skoda again and just debating which one. Had our Golf R and TTS nicked after a house break in to get the keys so I am thinking either an Octavia vRS estate, around 2018/19 DSG with heated seats or Superb with the 280 brake engine, fancied a Sport but seem to be rarer than hen's teeth so possibly the L&K model as either is a total sleeper. Has anyone got one, owned both? What are the pros and cons please? (apologies to admins if this is the wrong place as it is two models I wasn't sure where to pop it.)
  11. Cheers, I have a winding kit, I just have never used a torque wrench for this in the past so wondered if I would need one or if it wasn't even worth the hassle.
  12. Last time I changed discs and pads I did not use a torque wrench and I don't think M14 12 spline drive's existed. My question was whether those parts were needed for a 2WD model.
  13. Hi, like many we need to change the Yeti discs. Car is coming up 4 years old and has only done 32k I think so not impressed with the longevity. I have never see the like of the rears particularly. My question is would the FWD be the same? As in needing the spline fitting? Not sure what that actually is tbh and I don't own a torque wrench. Is it gong to be worth me buying both and doing a home job? I suspect fronts and backs will need to be done for the MOT, discs and pads. Cheers
  14. I have them on my hatch. They don't stop the buffeting which has a scientific name I recently learned but cannot remember what. I only got them to keep my taxi from steaming up when it rains and I am on the rank. They mad a fair bit of difference to wind noise when I fitted them. I wouldn't fit them to a domestic car though as the noise cancels out any good they might do
  15. Just go drive a few miles at 60 in 4th. If that doesn't burn it off there may be something else wrong. My car quite often stinks but being a taxi it does a lot of small runs so not really ideal for emissions strangled dervs. A garage should be ale to do a forced regeneration if it is not doing it itself. Mine will do a regen in the middle of town, once amusingly at lights at 3am with my colleague behind me. Looked like an 80s pop video all lit up by his Xenons
