  1. I have an Octavia Elegance 2.0 estate on a V plate. I have had a recurring problem with the Engine Management Light coming on, fuel consumption going thru the roof and rough tickover. I've had it into the dealers about 6 months ago and they have changed BOTH Lambda sensors, the Coolant temp sensor AND the MAF all was well until Thursday when on cam the light again and symptoms have returned. Obviously it's off back to the dealers soon as I have time but was wondering if anyone might have any ideas as to what the problem could be this time, could one of the above have failed after just 6 months ? :( I'm thinking Coil Packs maybe ? Edit - NOT in Limp Mode !!!
  2. Engine light on my 2.0 Octy comes on regularly, but I've finally tracked down what cause it to come on now "Cheap" fuel, I fill up at Texaco (cheap !?!) everything is fine till I fill up at esso then the Engine light comes on. I ring the AA they come out reset it, all is fine. If I use Morrisons / Texaco fuel it will upset the lambda sensor at some point, if I use Esso or Shell all seems ok. I guess it all comes down to the quality of fuel, seems texaco/morrisons 95 Ron is different to everyone elses . Interestingly enough the light came on again a couple days ago, but has since gone out again, I didn't think the light would go out on it's own ?, I thought once a fault had registered the light came on and stayed on until the faults were cleared from memory ? I've given up worrying about the light coming on now unless the car goes into Limp mode, then i'll panic  .
  3. Just saw this thread and thought I'd go take a squint see what all the fuss was about was greeted by this message :- Welcome to the DVLA's Vehicle Licensing Online I am sorry the service is currently unavailable due to essential maintenance. It would seem the gremlins are still bouncing around the system somewhere Course it could have something to do with the time of day :P
  4. Have a look here http://www.broadbandstuff.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=133 Linksys so it should be ok and less than 50 quid aswell
  5. Also need to think about how easy it would be for someone from SkodaUK to post on here asking for help then wait for a PM from one of the Techie chaps offering advice :( You can bet they know who most of em on here are by now :(
  6. Clarkson has got a VRs (Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame)
  7. Octy 2.0 Estate (no mods) 120 southbound on the M32 (woulda bin more but got a backhander from the Mrs when she realised what I was doin :( ) 105 from my old Favvy (Ok so it was downhill on the M5 BUT it did it) ( I cannot recommend this under any circumstances, I really thought it was gonna fall too bits around me  )
  8. Can't say I've experianced this, both my local dealers have been really good with regards to the Skodas I've had. Clist and Rattle in Failand (Bristol) (replaced immobilser with aftermarket jobbie after skoda failed to send the correct replacement fob TWICE ) and Roadworthy (Skoda specialist NOT dealer, though they are getting the dealership back) (Replaced the Cylinder Head on one of my Fav's after head gasket went 2 months after warranty expired  ) I have heard some horror stories about Williams Autos in Bristol (never used them myself) which is probably why Skoda are taking the dealership away from them and giving it back to Roadworthy. Both the Aforementioned dealers are excellent in my book. As far as common faults go, whenever I put Texaco fuel in my Octy, at about 1/4 tank it trips a fault in the Lambda sensor which sticks on the Engine Light on the Dash . This has happened twice now :( , never does it if I use Esso fuel though , I don't use Texaco fuel anymore .
  9. I know that Avon and Somerset are using Unmarked Silver VRs's aswell after getting a tug on the M32 a couple nights ago :( Another 3 points  You can't use the old "ah come on it's a skoda it won't go THAT fast" excuse anymore Also seen 3 in convoy in town the other night aswell, these were marked up.
  10. I have found that McAfee tells you about things that aren't actual viruses but have a signature of a known Virus. Norton can show you these if you ask it to but it analyses the entire file (not just parts of it like McAfee does) then decides whether it should take action or not. Can I suggest you guys also get the following FREE softwares and install them AdAware - www.lavasoft.com (It is free though there are buyable versions with extra bits bolted on) Spyware search and destroy - Do a google search for it can't remember where got mine. and Spyware Blaster - Again do a google. Once you've installed AdAware post your results on here (I'm always interested in peoples reactions when they discover what sort of crap they have on thier systems that could be sending all sorts of information about them without thier knowledge  ) First time I used AdAware it found 336 items of a dubious nature
  11. Way back when it was an Old Mk3 Escort 1.6 Escort Estate That was ummm lemme see bought the Favvy new on a late J so umm back then, had 2 more favvies and now the Octy since then . You can keep your Ford's, Vauxhalls, Beemers etc.. Skoda forever
  12. Theres another Dealer in Bristol that's not on your list, Williams Autos Ltd St Phillips Causeway Avonmeads Bristol Not used em for servicing yet but their salespeople are friendly enough, mind you they would be they want your cash don't they
  13. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to swap out the roof aerial on the Octy estate ? Bought the car in July only discovered the aerial was bust a couple weeks ago, it's been snaped off at some point (probably taken thru a carwash without being removed) and just been smothered with glue and jammed back into position (but it aint making proper contact) :(
  14. Hi all my first post on the site First of all wanna say great site. On my 4th Skoda now and wouldn't buy any other. Wanted to ask if there was anyone in Bristol with VAG as the EM light has decided to come on on my Octy gie me a bit of a fright at first till I read up on here. General concensus seems to be don't panic unless something doesn't feel right Is the 2.0 Octy which from what little investigating I have done seems to be a bit of an odd customer (is it really the Audi engine under the bonnet ?) Also quoted direct from Skoda "The 2.0 Octavia does not have any recommended replacement schedule for the Cam Belt, it should be checked every 10k and changed if required" THIS SCARES ME A LITTLE no A LOT Currently running at 62k miles and I have no idea if the Cam Belt has been changed (probably not being an ex lease motor) Thinking about getting it done anyway just to be on the safe side.
