I have booked in PFJones who are a but cheaper than the above and also claim to be able to do the correct coding, so I'll let you know how I get on!

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Mine does and it's extremely noticeable, far too loud just on 'normal' setting. Vrs petrol manual but the sound is more like a fake flat 6 for some reason

Octavia Mk4 aftermarket towbar
How much are the dealer charging you, and how did you manage to make them feel guilty about aftermarket people not being able to fit it? I think its £850 if you specify it and I must admit I'm starting to think as ridiculous as it is given that back in the not too recent past I could get a local bloke to fit them for £150, I should have paid it.

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Thanks for the replies it seems unbelievable that the mk4 can't do this. It wouldn't matter if the sound wasn't so a)loud and b)late. I'm really surprised that more people aren't complaining about this! If anyone does find a way to either lower the volume when on normal mode or make it stick in individual mode, please let me know! I'm in essex

Importing DAB Logos
My radio 2 icon shows (automatically without me having to upload it) when I first select it but then quickly goes to blank later during the journey. Bit rubbish but I don't really care about the logo anyway.

Annoying things about the Mk4!
Sorry if this has been discussed before but how do you get it to stay in the mode you select rather than reset to "Normal" mode? Please tell me this is possible! Mine has the sound actuator and aside from being a bit OTT and quite loud, I would find it a lot easier to put up with if it came on WITH the engine, instead it comes on a second or two later which exposes it immediately as ridiculous. Can I either make the mode default to Individual, or change Normal to not have the sound? I'd be happy to have the sound when sport mode is selected.

Lead in time for Vrs
No I'm not hoarding anything from anyone, don't panic! I've collected it, just not allowed to drive it as we're in Lockdown and I can work from home so I don't have any essential journeys. The reason it was inconvenient for me that it turned up 3 months early (as well as that I was hoping for a post-lockdown 21 plate) was that now is not a great time to be trying to sell my old car privately so I ended up having to trade it in and accept the inevitable loss in value.

Lead in time for Vrs
With skoda its completely random. My mk 3 took 6 months to arrive (was quoted 3) but my Mk4 has arrived, inconveniently, well ahead of schedule. Ordered in November (at the time most dealers told me it wasn't even possible to order) the VRS Petrol manual, was told it would be 'at least April' which I was happy with and it arrived 1st week of Jan. So now I've got a new car I'm not allowed to drive

Help on USB C
Ok I'm in the car looking, and I can't find a 12v socket anywhere? If there isn't one, that really is annoying
-
Heated steering
Mine was made on the 17th December and definitely doesn't have the heated wheel...
-
Help on USB C
Yeah I will but it just seems a bit naff, I don't like cables everywhere and I liked the music tucked away on a SD (ie not using a visible port). another USBC in the glovebox would have done the trick.

Help on USB C
Is it me or is 2 USB C's not really enough? In my old car I had 2 USB A's, plus 2 SD card slots which were hidden. So now I have to put my music in one of the visible USB slots and my phone charger in the other, leaving nowhere for anything else, like the passenger to charge their phone

Heated steering
Skoda are a bit of a nightmare for this, which is why I always send them a copy of the current spec when I'm buying because I've been stung before. For what its worth the spec when I ordered mine (in November) didn't mention it and the car doesn't have it. Not that I actually want it anyway, I never use the heated seats either

Dog Guard and Hatchbag
I have a full bootliner similar to hatchbag which I bought for my mk3 and it was bespoke for that. Since then I've used it in a kodiaq and a Leon estate and in both cases it did the job perfectly well and if you didn't know you'd not think it wasn't bespoke. I'm picking up a mk4 so I'll let you know how well it fits in there, I'm hoping it will be near enough perfect.

Full Matrix Headlights
Its really dangerous and you see it more and more eith night driving. Personally I think this is one supposedly safety feature that should be outlawed as its having the opposite effect. I had to switch it off in my Seat. It usually dipped them at the right time but thats not good enough, more times than had it been being done manually it didn't do it in time, and that one time could cause a crash.

Octavia Mk4 aftermarket towbar
Impressive that you managed to get it done via the dealer for £570, given that they charge £800 as an option when you order a car and it must be a lot easier for them to factory fit that fit afterwards. That's around the cost I would expect for aftermarket independent fitters including specific electrics. Cheapest I found is £370 without the dedicated electrics, that's the one I'll be getting The towbars themselves are available on ebay for about £250, I did fit one myself to my kodiaq (results are on here somewhere) but I'm not sure it was worth the time and effort so will be paying someone this time!

Mk4 boot liner
I was wondering how my mk3 bootliner would fit in the mk4, its been in 2 other cars since and still been useful, so hopefully it will fit reasonably close enough!

Octavia arrived unexpectedly
Hi so I ordered a month ago a new Octavia VRS manual estate. I was told by several dealerships that they weren't yet available to buy, and when I found one that would take the order, they said they would probably start being built in March, which was fine by me as I wasn't in a rush. I paid the deposit and that was that. Now, with no warning whatsoever, the car has arrived and appears to be ready to collect! So clearly something must have changed and one that was going to be a demo has diverted or something. Now I know this is a very 21st century problem but given that we're not supposed to go out anywhere I'm not sure I want to pick it up yet. Not to mention theres no room on my drive as I'll need time to sell my old car privately to avoid being completely conned. And i need to sort out a towbar before the old car goes. Haha a nice problem to have I guess but a bit frustrating

Ordered New Octavia VRS iV - Help with options?
Start stop is one reason (not the only one) I detest the DSG and always drive manual. Complete control over when my car cuts out thank you!

Factory tow bar and tow bar preparation on vRS wagon
The factory towbars are great but they are way too expensive for me. I tow a trailer but only locally a few times a year and I change car every few years so its not worth it. You can get a witter aftermarket one installed for less than the cost of just the 'prep' and if you want to you can pay about £100 more to have it wired in properly to the electrics. I did it myself once (on a kodiaq) but it was a lot of effort and I'd never bother again, just splice it into the rear lights. The only annoyance with doing that on my current car (leon) is that when reversing you have to remember to turn off the auto braking. I have an octavia on order and will be buying a £250 detachable swan neck kit again and fitting it myself. If you shop around you can normally find about £400 fitted

Mk 4 vRS UK Heated Steering Wheel?
Skoda's policy of seemingly random upgrades and 'packs' which they, like other car makers, have obviously decided is more profitable than actually letting customers choose the individual items they want is extremely frustrating. It doesn't help that these days most dealers seemingly only care about numbers and literally don't know anything about the cars and don't even bother to learn all the options. It's a real shame because knowledgeable local dealers used to be a Skoda strongpoint, and now there's only huge corporate dealers with 'kids' as salesman (sweeping generalisation obviously) The cars are better than ever but customer service has gone out the window in my experience.

Skoda Octavia IV pictures thread
Can I just check that is the Corrida Red? Hope so, I love it. Edit sorry I just read that it is. Great news, have ordered the vrs in this colour.

MK 4 VRS ordered, anyone else?
I'm with you on ghe spare tyre I have a spacesaver that I'll be putting in the car. Wouldn't travel without one. Dealer told me 4 months for mine so naturally I'm expecting it to be about 6; i don't think they've made any manuals yet and my past experience of skoda tells me to not get too excited.
