  1. I have never, ever managed to get the inbuilt voice control to do anything useful at all... Would rather have it switched off completely as then it wouldn't go off randomly when it thinks you're trying to talk to it and you aren't!
  2. Yes sorry for confusion it definitely said Clutch Temperature high, 100%. Just while motorway driving, it's come up a few times but didn't on my most recent long trip For what it's worth my car was a Jan 2020 when they were very new, and I've had no end of electrical error gremlins, some of which still persist - skoda say everything's fine. Others include the radio randomly switching itself off in the middle of a drive, sat nav taking two attempts to input an address, constant bonging about "take over driving" and "stay in the middle of the lane" even though I already am. Total joke. Only reason I'm keeping it now is they've stopped doing the manual vrs which is the only one I was interested in. Never had any problem with the car itself mechanical etc, and this is the first of my skodas that's ever given me any grief after owning 5 now...
  3. Sorry to drag this up, but I got the same, message on the motorway (ie when clutch wasn't under particular strain). Several times "Temperature high, continue driving" a couple of times "Temperature high, stop driving and see dealer" Taking it into Skoda was a complete waste of time as usual - nothing recorded on the system, and cannot replicate the problem - basically like every single other electronic issue I've had with the Mk4. very frustrating. Never had a single issue with any other of my Octavias going right back to mk1.
  4. I don't know I'm afraid. VRS built Dec 2020. It's done this from the start and NEVER remembers the last destinations, but I haven't had the energy to moan about it to the dealer yet.
  5. Yep mine does this among many other infotainment fails. Let me guess, the dealer pretended they'd never seen it before haha. Joke
  6. I'm never sure why people want a raised floor, yes it makes it level-ish, but I can't see any circumstances where I wouldn't rather just have a larger boot with a less bendy floor. Had the variable floor for 2 years and always left it down.
  7. The USB C is on the wrong side for a UK dash cam and I hate hanging cables, so I just wired it into the fuse box as usual with a £5 ebay cable and a £1 piggyback fuse. Then you get your choice of always on or on with ignition.
  8. No it's not just that, it's plain software bugs, on mine such as (almost) never remembering last sat nav destinations, sometimes having no climate control options at all showing, and sometimes taking over 5 minutes to load up the system after you set off, whcih is particularly unhelpful if you want to enter a sat nav address. I agree that when the auto climate is working, it's quite good.
  9. I love the car itself and I'm glad I bought it. That said, the stereo etc is an absolute joke, shocking number of minor issues and very poor usability.
  10. For what it's worth mine is 7 pin and the reversing code works fine.
  11. Due to laws solidified by the Insurance Act 2015 its impossible in the UK for an insurer to refuse a claim on a manufacturers part just because of a modified other part, unless that part could have directly caused its failure. That said, I prefer the original wheels thanks.
  12. I've used pound shop roof bars for years and they've fitted all my cars previously including my mk3 estate which had 'proper' roof rails. Unfortunately the mk4 estate has no proper rails and presumably they are only good for the bespoke type of roof bars
  13. The gesture control bit you said resonates with me. I can't get it to do anything consistently and sometimes it swipes the home screen left when I didn't mean to and won't go back when I try to swipe it back. It keeps asking me about user accounts which I don't want, all I want is it to remember individual mode.
  14. The new bumper thing might be related to another towbar manufacturer, because when I was trying to get quotes, one did tell me that, that was for a 'tow trust' bar. Mine is westfalia and as I said no issues cutting a hole in the existing bumper. Seems very bizarre.
  15. Ok So I've just now today had my towbar fitted by PF Jones (was supposed to be a couple of weeks ago but finally came now), and this appears to be successful. As above, the towbar itself and the electronics kits is exactly the same as the Mk3, and the Golf/Leon etc. It cost £600, but I do feel a bit better about it now that the guy (freelance not actually employed by PF Jones) was at it for nearly 6 hours, most of which was fiddling with electronics. He mentioned the towbar prep and said it was much easier to fit to cars that had it (mine doesn't). But since they don't ask you or charge any different for cars that do and don't have this, that's not my problem so essentially the towbar prep is a waste of time. No problems with the coding - I tested it pretty thoroughly, I had trouble with my last car every time you selected reverse and forgot to turn parking sensors off it auto-braked hard. When trailer attached graphics change on the screen, rear parking sensors and autobraking are disabled, rear foglight disabled (on car) Certainly no problem with the bumper, there is a cutaway marked already, although he cut a smaller area than this (ie the minimum that was needed).
  16. Someone mentioned the reversing camera does anyone know if you can buy as an add-on? I don't really need one to be honest but it would be a cool project. As for specs yes it's a joke and it's easy to get caught out, I had no idea I would have no reverse camera when my previous 3 skodas all had one as standard and the the spec listed 'parking assistant'.
  17. Here's my mk3 titan covers in my mk4. Close enough that you'd never know the difference to be honest, just buy the old one if you need one now
  18. I'm sorry that I can't help you, but just out of courtesy I thought someone should reply. I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. My vrs has fog lights in the lower bumper and they appear to work OK.
  19. I know you can drive to the shops but we have a linear driveway and because I'm always in my partners cars always in front of it. I have driven to exercise a couple of times but it's not quite the same is it, just trying to do my bit by following the rules for now.
  20. Welcome, lovely colour. Mine's red no photos yet as still not allowed to go anywhere
  21. Hi Janis thanks but I think your solution does not work, yes we can select individual mode and turn it off, but the car resets to normal every single time you switch it on - and then only lets you switch to individual once the screen has finally booted up. None of my previous 3 cars all VAG group forgot which mode you were in, so it's incredibly inconvenient.
  22. The bit I most don't like is there's a gap between turning the engine on and the fake noise starting. As soon as someone finds a way to turn it off please let me know!
  23. Hi I sold my Kodiaq 2 years ago and I've just found the car mats, brand new and unused, in the loft along with the 2 plastic boot separator bits. I must have forgot to put them in when I sold it. These are skoda branded, all 4 re there and the front 2 mats clip in. Free to anyone who wants them, collection only from Wickford, Essex.
  24. Can't answer your question yet because mine's due next week, but I can confirm with certainty that the bar itself that fits the Mk4 is the same one that fits the Mk3, plus Leon, Golf etc etc. Obviously we're all waiting to see whether the coding can be done easily. One of the quotes I got was they can do all the fitting plus the electrics, but that I'd then have to take it to skoda for coding and they would charge "about £50". Is said that seemed unlikely given how incredibly unhelpful skoda had been when I tried to do this in the past!
  25. I have booked in PFJones who are a but cheaper than the above and also claim to be able to do the correct coding, so I'll let you know how I get on!
