  1. I read this and tried 14 again as per Tell's advice - success! https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/page/22/
  2. I spoke too soon. The Superb VCDS has a very different stored value, 15 rather than 32783 as the default. I tried 32782, 14 and 16, resetting the MIB in between - none of them worked, so I've given up for now. I did check that Android Auto will display Google Maps on the head unit if necessary. I also spotted after my post that this topic is being followed on another Briskoda thread. It's probably best to watch that one:
  3. There's a post about this over in an Audi TT forum: https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/fixed-rds-tmc-no-longer-working-in-uk.2032197/#post-9622024 In summary, Trafficmaster supplied TMC, but they have stopped providing the service. It affects VW group and many other car manufacturers. However, if you have VCDS, there's a fix that work on the TTs. It enables the alternative VW Audi service instead. I haven't yet tried it on my Superb, but it uses the same maps and software so I expect it will work: As ever, pcbbc has found this. Top man!
  4. Years ago, this regularly happened to me when I bent down with the key in my pocket. There are also tales of owners accidently opening everything up from inside buildings at 100m distance from the car park. The solution was to use a craft knife to cut off the remote boot opening button inside the key fob. Problem solved.
  5. I plugged an old PSTN handset into the router and that produced a dial tone. When I tried it with the DECT base station, there was no dial tone. Having said that, the DECT phones still work fine. There are some FAQs at: https://www.bt.com/help/landline/digital-voice-phones This is for the Digital Voice Adapter: https://www.bt.com/content/dam/bt/help/user-guides/Digital-Voice-Adapter-userguide.pdf Also, I did get the old DECT answer machine to work. BT had automatically activated their digital voicemail without asking. By dialing 1571, via the menu I was able to increase the BT digital voicemail delay from MEDIUM to LONG. I then changed my own answer machine delay to 10 seconds, so it now cuts in before the BT voicemail. Sorted!
  6. I can report that it took me only a couple of minutes to get everything working. The only downsides are lack of dialing tone on the DECT phone handsets and that the old answer machine doesn't work, but at least it indicates missed calls and times. BT now provides voicemail.
  7. BT are disconnecting my old phone socket tomorrow, so I'll only have VOIP via FFTH, a modem with small battery backup and a BT Home Hub router. They've already sent me a new Home Hub 2 with a telephone socket on the rear. I also asked for a free Digital Voice Adapter, which plugs into any mains socket. The DECT base station plugs into that, so can then stay where it is at the opposite side of the house from the Home Hub, rather than having to be plugged into the router. The old telephone sockets and wiring will be redundant. I live in the middle of nowhere but (luckily) have a good mobile signal.
  8. Thanks from me as well. It only took only a couple of minutes to install them. I used to subscribe to PocketGPSworld, but in recent years it's been a pain to convert them into a usable format, so I recently let the subscription lapse.
  9. Fitted this OEM high line reversing camera to my MY2017 L&K yesterday. It took me 4 hours including VCDS. The supplied wiring includes the relevant connectors so, for a change, I didn't need to do any soldering. Worked first time. The guide lines change with the steering and seem to be fine without further calibration. The top-down view for trailer hitch also works well. I routed the cables through the head liner rather than the normal low route - much easier. Didn't bother linking the camera wash nozzle to the existing rear windscreen washer hose (needs a Y connector and short hose - not supplied). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Orig-VW-Seat-Skoda-Audi-5NA827566D-3V0827566-H-Rückfahrkamera-Set-with-Cable/283687965666?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  10. I fitted proper stainless steel exhaust tips to my 220 last Summer and they've been fine. No noise, vibration or heat issues whatsoever. I didn't need to change the diffuser, just carefully cut the plastic, but I did have to lower the two silencers about one inch to clear. Cost was around £50.
  11. Thanks MartiniB, the European 7-Zip download worked perfectly for me! :o)
  12. Your method also worked on my Linux laptop. I downloaded the Pocket GPS World cameras and replaced the 22x22 pixel BMP images with 39x39 versions. I then used http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/POIs site to get the cams database in VW/Skoda format. Finally, I was able to use the same Python poifix.py script in a terminal to fix the download. It went on the Columbus without issue. Thanks!
  13. No need for VCDS or soldering. I popped open my remote and used a craft knife to carefully remove the back of that button so it can never happen again. Like you, I'd previously experienced accidental opening of the hatch, at a long distance or when working near the car with the key in my pocket. They have a heck of a range. It's a permanent solution. I also have two unmodified spare keys inside the house wrapped in aluminium foil to avoid thieves scanning them.
  14. All I can say is that since I made the change I have had no rattles while revving hard or driving, with no knocking anywhere on the exhaust system. I live in the countryside so go round plenty of bends and over very poor quality roads for my daily commute. Yesterday, I did 120 miles on the motorway and checked as soon as I stopped. Zero issues. The plastic around the exhaust tips only gets warm, with no sign of damage. It's possible that the 034 DSG dogbone mount I fitted is preventing excessive movement of the engine/gearbox. 7mm clearance around the tips seems to be sufficient. If that proves not to be the case, the grey polypropylene skirt is really easy to cut and file to increase the clearance. Time will tell.
  15. There's actually a 7 mm gap all the way round but it looks less in the close-up due to the camera flash shortening the shadow. I put reflective aluminium tape on the inside of the plastic where it can't be seen in case of this but there have been no issues.
