  1. I read this and tried 14 again as per Tell's advice - success! https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/512443-tmc-traffic-events-no-longer-being-receivedfirmware-update-required/page/22/
  2. I spoke too soon. The Superb VCDS has a very different stored value, 15 rather than 32783 as the default. I tried 32782, 14 and 16, resetting the MIB in between - none of them worked, so I've given up for now. I did check that Android Auto will display Google Maps on the head unit if necessary. I also spotted after my post that this topic is being followed on another Briskoda thread. It's probably best to watch that one:
  3. There's a post about this over in an Audi TT forum: https://www.ttforum.co.uk/threads/fixed-rds-tmc-no-longer-working-in-uk.2032197/#post-9622024 In summary, Trafficmaster supplied TMC, but they have stopped providing the service. It affects VW group and many other car manufacturers. However, if you have VCDS, there's a fix that work on the TTs. It enables the alternative VW Audi service instead. I haven't yet tried it on my Superb, but it uses the same maps and software so I expect it will work: As ever, pcbbc has found this. Top man!
  4. Years ago, this regularly happened to me when I bent down with the key in my pocket. There are also tales of owners accidently opening everything up from inside buildings at 100m distance from the car park. The solution was to use a craft knife to cut off the remote boot opening button inside the key fob. Problem solved.
  5. I plugged an old PSTN handset into the router and that produced a dial tone. When I tried it with the DECT base station, there was no dial tone. Having said that, the DECT phones still work fine. There are some FAQs at: https://www.bt.com/help/landline/digital-voice-phones This is for the Digital Voice Adapter: https://www.bt.com/content/dam/bt/help/user-guides/Digital-Voice-Adapter-userguide.pdf Also, I did get the old DECT answer machine to work. BT had automatically activated their digital voicemail without asking. By dialing 1571, via the menu I was able to increase the BT digital voicemail delay from MEDIUM to LONG. I then changed my own answer machine delay to 10 seconds, so it now cuts in before the BT voicemail. Sorted!
  6. I can report that it took me only a couple of minutes to get everything working. The only downsides are lack of dialing tone on the DECT phone handsets and that the old answer machine doesn't work, but at least it indicates missed calls and times. BT now provides voicemail.
  7. BT are disconnecting my old phone socket tomorrow, so I'll only have VOIP via FFTH, a modem with small battery backup and a BT Home Hub router. They've already sent me a new Home Hub 2 with a telephone socket on the rear. I also asked for a free Digital Voice Adapter, which plugs into any mains socket. The DECT base station plugs into that, so can then stay where it is at the opposite side of the house from the Home Hub, rather than having to be plugged into the router. The old telephone sockets and wiring will be redundant. I live in the middle of nowhere but (luckily) have a good mobile signal.
  8. Thanks from me as well. It only took only a couple of minutes to install them. I used to subscribe to PocketGPSworld, but in recent years it's been a pain to convert them into a usable format, so I recently let the subscription lapse.
  9. Fitted this OEM high line reversing camera to my MY2017 L&K yesterday. It took me 4 hours including VCDS. The supplied wiring includes the relevant connectors so, for a change, I didn't need to do any soldering. Worked first time. The guide lines change with the steering and seem to be fine without further calibration. The top-down view for trailer hitch also works well. I routed the cables through the head liner rather than the normal low route - much easier. Didn't bother linking the camera wash nozzle to the existing rear windscreen washer hose (needs a Y connector and short hose - not supplied). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Orig-VW-Seat-Skoda-Audi-5NA827566D-3V0827566-H-Rückfahrkamera-Set-with-Cable/283687965666?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  10. I fitted proper stainless steel exhaust tips to my 220 last Summer and they've been fine. No noise, vibration or heat issues whatsoever. I didn't need to change the diffuser, just carefully cut the plastic, but I did have to lower the two silencers about one inch to clear. Cost was around £50.
  11. Thanks MartiniB, the European 7-Zip download worked perfectly for me! :o)
  12. Your method also worked on my Linux laptop. I downloaded the Pocket GPS World cameras and replaced the 22x22 pixel BMP images with 39x39 versions. I then used http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/POIs site to get the cams database in VW/Skoda format. Finally, I was able to use the same Python poifix.py script in a terminal to fix the download. It went on the Columbus without issue. Thanks!
  13. No need for VCDS or soldering. I popped open my remote and used a craft knife to carefully remove the back of that button so it can never happen again. Like you, I'd previously experienced accidental opening of the hatch, at a long distance or when working near the car with the key in my pocket. They have a heck of a range. It's a permanent solution. I also have two unmodified spare keys inside the house wrapped in aluminium foil to avoid thieves scanning them.
  14. All I can say is that since I made the change I have had no rattles while revving hard or driving, with no knocking anywhere on the exhaust system. I live in the countryside so go round plenty of bends and over very poor quality roads for my daily commute. Yesterday, I did 120 miles on the motorway and checked as soon as I stopped. Zero issues. The plastic around the exhaust tips only gets warm, with no sign of damage. It's possible that the 034 DSG dogbone mount I fitted is preventing excessive movement of the engine/gearbox. 7mm clearance around the tips seems to be sufficient. If that proves not to be the case, the grey polypropylene skirt is really easy to cut and file to increase the clearance. Time will tell.
  15. There's actually a 7 mm gap all the way round but it looks less in the close-up due to the camera flash shortening the shadow. I put reflective aluminium tape on the inside of the plastic where it can't be seen in case of this but there have been no issues.
  16. Thanks but I thought the tips looked a little too long (SWMBO called them baked bean cans) so I shortened them by about 1 inch/25 mm at the weekend to make them less obtrusive. Being stainless steel, I don't have to worry about rusting. I'm happy with the look now!
  17. I did mine last night as well with no problems. Extracted the files in Linux to a FAT32 formatted SD card. Thanks for the link!
  18. I've got a 220 and was unhappy with the curved diesel-like exhaust tips so I spent ages looking at a relatively cheap way to do a (hopefully) quality job. I lowered the rear silencer hangers by about 25 mm using washers and longer bolts, then used a 102 mm hole saw on the original rear grey plastic valance/splitter to make cutouts. I managed to find some polished 304 stainless steel tips with strong clamps that are the perfect length (beware chromed aluminium or steel as they will corrode in no time). The existing stainless steel curved tips are 56 mm outside diameter so needed to be cut off at about 35 mm from the silencer. Unfortunately the new tips are 61 mm bore so I had to use some steei shimming inside so they don't slip off. I also used a thick self-tapping screw on each tip so they are completely solid. I'm happy with the result, although the tips still point down a bit so they're not perfect. There is no easy way to get them completely horizontal without cutting out too much of the plastic. Ground clearance isn't an issue. I polished the existing stainless steel silencers. There is minimal sound increase. Total cost less than £46. http://www.ryanstarracing.com/10-3-Stainless-Steel-Car-Exhaust-Muffler-Tip-Pipe-2-5-Inlet-3-Outlet-TP055-p11335.html or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-3inch-Stainless-Steel-Car-Exhaust-Muffler-Tip-Pipe-2-5-Inlet-3-Outlet/272838886744?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  19. It doesn't necessarily make you rev any harder. On the lower settings it just completely removes the pause when you put your foot down and makes it like a traditional throttle cable. You can increase the throttle response further but, if you go too far, it just causes wheel spin in the front when pulling away.
  20. An alternative to the dtuk pedal box is the Racechip XLR: https://www.racechip.co.uk/throttle-tuning/xlr.html Lots of positive reviews on this forum, including me on my 220. Makes a real difference.
  21. Rich, neither the original nor the replacement wheel is heated.
  22. I recently got a 2017 L&K 220 from Skoda stock but without paddle shifters. Living out in the country with lots of windy roads, the DSG either selects too high a gear or, if in Sport mode, is too revy. Based on your posts, I bought a used steering wheel with shifters and did a straight swap, with no coding necessary. The German dealer accepted a bid at 140 Euro + postage and I fitted it tonight. The condition is as new. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4712.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XOrig.+Lederlenkrad+MFL+Schaltwippen+Skoda+Superb+DSG+Lenkrad+Leder+3V0419091S.TRS0&_nkw=Orig.+Lederlenkrad+MFL+Schaltwippen+Skoda+Superb+DSG+Lenkrad+Leder+3V0419091S&_sacat=0 i've never fitted any upgrade easier in my motoring life. Together with the Motorsport 034 dogbone bush and Racechip XLR pedal box, it's like having my previous vRS back. Just now I had a big grin on my face on the backroads!!
  23. The cable does look ugly so I've just ordered a couple of really short ones to try out. If it works out as expected, I'll update the photos and link to the correct cable.
  24. I use Linux and it works fine. However, I put it on a USB stick and plugged that in. Apparently, it also works if you plug in an external USB disk drive.
  25. Photos attached. The cable is really untidy but the cover slides closed without hitting it and it works fine. When I get time, I'll locate a better USB cable and/or rewire to improve the look.
