from experience, you may need a seperate budget for fuel... the 1.4mpi can be a thirsty wee bugger... driving at 60mph will get you 500+miles out of a tank (ive managed it) but at town speed/traffic levels... low 30's in mpg are a good result

i have a 1.4mpi furby.. and i've noticed a small oily appearance puddle that seems to be coming from the drivers side, probably midway back in the engine... does anyone have an incline as to what this might be? and is this a common problem? i personally think it might be power steering fluid, but im by no means an expert

The front and back skoda badges on my new (2nd hand) furby are really badly tarnished. the back one even looks sorta deformed.. so i ordered 2 from ebay, and they should be arriving on monday me thinks anyways, just wondering if anyone has done this, and can testify to its ease/difficulty.. saw a few posts on the search, but they were mainly for ppl debadging and not replacing it, so wondering what the score is with it hopefully it will improve the overall look of my furby!!!!!!:D:D

intermittent front windows
cairdinbhoypadd replied to Ben Frith's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
garauntee you that its dirt on the circuit board of the switch... had the same problem in mine, to fix, I took the panel with the switch off.. disconnect the switch, then take the moving part of the switch off (the bit you touch when opening/closing the window' then using a screwdriver, open up the switch.. take off the grey rubber bit, and hey presto your in... then using a cotton bud and white spirit, carefuly clean the 2 contacts.. i had to use about 7 whole buds for each side of it.. so mine were pretty dirty... anyways.. get them gleaming, put the whole thing back together again, and your sorted! -

Heated mirrors not working
cairdinbhoypadd replied to farky77's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
just a quick question regarding them... i have a furby 1.4mpi.... 51 plate.. so its the older type switch with 3 postions.. 'L' 'R' and the heater symbol... now im confused in 2 ways... a. the definitive way to turn these on.. been reading several posts.. some say leaving it on at the heater symbol does the job, some say the switch has 2 b rocked towards the driver... and some say the rear heated windscreen has to be turned on also... does anyone actually know? b. is there any indication (other than the warm mirrors) that they are working, its just I havent had the chance to test, partly cause i dont know if they are on or not! and the symbol doesnt change colour when the lights are on (as does symbols such as the circulating air control switch) -
thanks guys!! managed to get the panel off no bother at all... the switch itself had a blockage as i thought (part of the switch came off and lodged itself in one side.. i removed it, however all was not well.. the switch didnt work... rather than just chucking it out, i opened it up to see if a DIY job could be done... the electrical contacts on the circuit board were absolutely caked in a green mould... so i cleaned it off with white spirit, put it all back together, and hey presto! thanks again!

Just bought a 51 plate fabia and im at the stage of sorting out the niggles.. and so far i've used the search to sort them all (had 3 breaks in the rear window washers for instance.. yes... 3!!! what a reconnecting job that was) anyways... found plenty of things on the search about window problems, but none really explained what i need:confused: on the passenger side door, the electric window switch seems to be jammed for the up position....(can be fully controlled from the drivers side) however.. when its pressed in the down direction, it will put the window up if its down... now as i say, it does feel as if its jammed rather than just being reversed or whatever.. as it only moves about 1mm in the up direction... basically im wondering whats the easiest way to get in to the switch without causing damage to the door trim.. i just feel if i start looking for the clips with a screwdriver, i could do more damage than worth, at least if i know where they are, i wont cause much cosmetic damage if any at all cheers!

I bought a 2nd hand furby today... when i put it in reverse... a bleeper from the rear of the car starts... it bleeps pretty much every second.. however this doesnt change even when obstacles are RIGHT behind the car.... at times the bleeper changes tone.. (sort of as if the battery is running out on it).... im wondering if this is a faulty reverse parking assistant, or just a crazy bleeper? *note there are no visible sensors in the tail of the car which you would usually find with a reverse park system
