Nice clean stock looking vRS. Just like mine Didn't hit any of the kamikaze sheep in the Gorge then?

you... rock! I had no idea I had that, I just went out and looked and have exactly the same, wohoo! I was expecting the set button to be a + - toggle like on some of the VW's. happy chappy now, thanks!

Ah poo, I'm with SwiftCover and they don't allow any mods of that type according to the FAQ's. Oh well! Thats saved me 200-300 quid on RARB and premium hike. Cheer for clearing that up.

Hi, I have a 55 vRS, the cruise control on my car is operated from one stalk, with resume/on/off as a thumb switch, and 'set' as the momentary button on the end of the stick. but I have no 'plus' or 'minus' speed setting it seems. I love CC, but without being able to 'tweak' the speed I can never use it for more than about two miles on the motorway before some fool boxes me in or pulls out / in on me and I have to brake/clutch. So far its been a bit useless. I do understand about the resume and also the over-accelerate that returns to cruise speed, but there are plenty of times when the incremental switches are needed. Does anyone know how easy/hard/expensive it would be for me to add the +/- version of the stalk - or better still - steering wheel controls? Cheers! Ben

Which pic you referring to? I've been back up over all of them and cant see it...

Insurance premium?? you what? So fitting something that makes the car more stable and safe puts the permium up? I wouldn't have even considered declaring an ARB until I read that, and I was about to order and fit the whitelines one asap. Now I'm not so sure. Anyone any thoughts on this insurance issue?

Funny.. unbelievable economy! I thrash mine and average 51mpg, i'ts like a gift of thrashability! I was just wondering about the handling cus I had a hairy moment on Saturday night chasing a Quattro TT on a roundabout, and ended up doing a sort of 4 wheel drift towards the wrong exit! Thankfully a dab on brake brought the front back in and we (me and car) didn't end up on the M25 the wrong way down a slip road! I have to do something about the handling.. tyres probably.

Nice, what's it like on track in the vRS? I have an identical looking car to you (from outside, no idea if you've done any mods inside).

Can I kick it with the big boys? well standard VRS?

Hi, also, as far as I can tell from reading posts here and other modders forums - if you get your car remapped, you'll get stung on insurance for a 'modified' car more than you would on the 'stock' vRS. I agree with V5-Steve, you'll spend more getting yours to vRS standard than you will on a vRS. Regarding the need for a car non-stop, you might be able to wrangle a courtesy car if you get your current dealer to find you a vRS, or maybe a hire car? -
Ok thanks for the suggestions gents, I'll have to save the pennies for a rear one then, and make it a sunny Saturday project. Looks like the Whitelines ones are most affordable, any thoughts on these quality wise? I can search about for other opinions but thought you might be able to give an opinion here

I think the biggest bonus I've noticed since having the vRS is the figures when sat in traffic and crawling. The Bora V5 used to drink fuel at anything under 50, in 20mph traffic I'd be getting about 21MPG. This morning sat in traffic on M25, edging along, I looked at the instant MPG gauge and it was reading 40 mpg. Unbelievable. I cant believe this car, when I left home the range reading was 95miles. After driving 21 miles, and planting the foot heavily at every occasion, the range now reads 90miles.. love it!

Hi, I've just been reading and searching about ARBs and Strut Braces, and boot braces (not sure what they are really called, the type that sit between your inner arches in the boot and upset wife cus she cant put her vanity case in there anymore) I've seen lots of info, pics, fitting guides etc, but could someone explain the difference between front, rear ARBs, and strut braces, in terms of what they are supposed to do for handling? Which mods effect what. Cheers! (read between the lines and you'll realise that I've just got the vRS, im not sure if the handling is good or not, and not sure if I should be thinking about these sorts of mods or not)

Stage 1 Remap Figures? Fill in the blanks . . . .
55VRS replied to RichieVRS's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Nice to hear... I'd like to have mine RR'd, but imagine it's top dollas! Only had the car for... *counts* 10 hours now, so maybe I should just live with it before I start testing and thrashing it to death -
Needed to replace the VW Bora, and didn't want to trade down in spec/build. I liked the idea if a quick small Skoda, kind if ironic, so I test drove a 55 Silver vRS last week, loved it, bought it today. Drove it home this aft... then found two excuses to take it out again So far I'm absolutely astounded by the mid range pull it has. It feels like the fastest small car I've been in. Can't believe the book "9"+ second 0-60 figure, it has to be quicker than that!?!? I'm gonna have to test it over and over and over again just to make sure

@Jason: When you say 'boost gauge' I'm assuming this is a mod, or is there a boost gauge in the stock car that I've missed? Regarding economy, I'm picking up the car Saturday so will see just how BAD economy can be over Sat/Sunday (foot stuck to the floor, wohoo!). Then Tuesday I have to drop me 'post-operation' mother back to the westcountry from London, so that'll be an Uber economy run

Wanted: Pics of single DIN adaptor
55VRS replied to No Waiting's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Hi, Could anyone re-post a working link of the skoda adaptor please? the images in this thread seem to have fallen off the server. Thanks! -
I pick up my vRS on Saturday... does that mean I need to start worrying about MPG? Current car is a V5 Bora so I've kind of gotten used to a car that downs pints of fuel every time you even look at the accelerator. I hope I've not accidentally bought into an economy car group...
