  1. Hi All, looks like I will be buying 3 tyres soon, tyres fitted at the moment are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx and there awfull with a hard ride and feeling every bump in the road, I'm after good mileage with a good ride as were in our 60s and not boy racers so any recommendations?
  2. Thanks Pete, do you know the driveshaft nut torque setting ?
  3. Fabia mk2 2008 engine code BNV 1.4 TDI Hi All, we need to find a part number and a couple of the websites we go on don't list the full number, can anybody help ? Cheers Stuart

    VW forums ?

Hi all, I've bought a 2020 VW Tiguan 2ltr TDi 4x4 so can anybody reccomend a good forum, I believe its based on the same platform as the Karoq so I might put a few posts on there, still have the Rapid though.
  7. Hi all, well it's looking like I'm going to have to change the clutch + slave cylinder as the pedal is sticking halfway again, I have changed the master cylinder (twice) checked for leaks on the brakes as well as the clutch and there's a small dribble of clear fluid at the bottom of the gearbox, as I'm not certain of the make of clutch fitted in going to have to remove it first then pick one up.
  8. Hi Mr James, we tried a reset with my brothers car scanner but it didn't last long so we had to buy another throttle body and thats now working OK.
  9. Hi All, My front nearside outer CV boot has split so I'm changing it, looking on elsawin there are 5 different driveshafts that can be fitted and looking at eurocarparts and GSF there are 4 different boots, so I'm having to remove the old one (in between rain showers) and take it with me and also measure the sizes each end of the shaft etc. Is there a way of finding out without removing the original ? Cheers Stuart
  10. Possible loose connection, check main fuse box under bonnet and side connections.
  11. It you have VCDS you can put the car into sleep mode without disconnecting the battery just like the factory do when the car is put in long term storage !
  12. My Scout does this and I am suspecting a bad seal on the roof rails, I've removed the internal trim around the lock catch and I keep emptying a couple of holes for years that fill with rain water !
  13. Hi varoom , thanks for that, I think mine's a 1Z , I'm trying to narrow it down just in case I have to change the clutch slave cylinder/complete clutch, going off your drawing of the slave cylinder is there a drain going to the edge of the gearbox to stop brake fluid contaminating the clutch plate if it was leaking ? Mine's a Scout 4x4 so has an output off the main gearbox for the haldex gearbox so I presume it would be trickier to remove.
  14. Hi JR, thanks for the warning, I did have a look at the brake bleed nipples the other week to make sure they weren't weeping after changing the fluid in the system, its grotty weather outside so when it improves ill give it a good look. No replies on the clutch so I assume you find out when you remove it.
  15. Welcome to the forums, Have you tried cleaning/drying out the ECU and refitting it ? what device are you using to read the ECU ? Apart from that you would need another member with the same car to read thier ECU and give you some settings to check/input with the same reading device. cheers Sparky
  16. Hi All, had a problem with the clutch the other day as the pedal was sticking halfway down and then I could only change gear when the pedal was right down, luckily I managed to get back home by topping up the fluid and I was only 3 miles away. I have fitted a new master cylinder and bled the clutch with an easy bleed kit as its the only way, pedal is now back to normal, but for how long ? GSF list a few clutches but only stock a few and that is about 4 types and 2 manufacturers LUK and SACHS. So does anybody know which type is fitted ? I did remove the under tray to check for leaks and couldnt see any from the clutch pipes, there was an engine oil leak at the top back of the engine that had gone right down to underneath the gearbox so I cleaned that up. cheers Sparky
  17. I would also check or change the ignition barrel/electrics as like inspectorman says there's a sensor inside that recognises the key chip and it should give a feed to the starter motor in the start position.
  18. Have a look on ebay and take a picture of your wheel bolt head and there are places that will send you the correct key head to fit just going off the pic, Ive replaced mine with a differant type as the key was wearing away inside and the only way I could remove the bolt was using a large bar and holding the key on striaght and even then it was touch and go !
  19. Hurray found it, I had the car up on axle stands for bleeding the brakes and it was slightly nose down, enough to form an air lock in the master cylinder as the fluid outlet is underneath on the end, I read on here that they raised the front of the car, and it worked ! I bled it with the gunsons easybleed fed off an old bike innertube and followed the Skoda instructions. Thanks for all the suggestions, Happy bunny.
  20. Hi JR, it looks like it's inside the bell housing so I presume concentric,I will try clamping the rubber pipe but there is absolutely no resistance on the pedal and I pumped it up and down 20 times ! Is there anything inside the main cylinder that gives problems ? I will show a pic of the main outlet pipe after removal as I don't know if the seal was still on it ? Although I would have thought it would pee out fluid if it wasn't there.
  21. Just been out to try it again and there's no resistance on the pedal, topped up the reservoir to the brim, didn't Use any new seals as it was weekend, yes to taking off the rubber inserts and fitting them to the pipe, carnt see any leaks, there's a round thing in the pipework at the back of the bulkhead ?, I've got a dentist app so I will try again in a couple of hours.thanks for people's help
