  1. Ok, so basically there's no specific place to look for anything to clean? I also thought it could be built like that, but somehow to me it still doesn't feel like an efficient solution. Well, what do I know..
  2. Hi all, I tried searching for this, but didn't find an answer. So, my question is: where does the 1.3 MPi engine in a Felicia get its air to the air filter? I tried to follow the pipe leading from the air filter box to the front bumper, but it just looked like it would end on the bumper and not continue anywhere on the other side. I was just wondering, because I'm trying to do some minor maintenance so my Porky would be happier during winter and so I would like to remove all the bugs and other creatures from the air intake
  3. My 1.3 Felicia is quite a talker too. Every time I drive it, I get a different resonation from the exhaust, or interior. That's not bad, it just means the car has things to tell you Of course you could start going through all the sound sources but at least in my car's case I don't see why. It's because of the noises I've even given my car his name: Porky (the Pig) Then again, my car doesn't make noises from the front shock area, so I'm not sure would they be worth fixing. The noises my car makes are clearly eg. because the exhaust resonates against the frame etc.
  4. But what is the oil recommended by Skoda for this one? Is it the 10W30/10W40 for cold(ish) climates? Like I said, I never received the user's manual and my Google-skills apparently aren't good enough, so I have to trust everyone else
  5. Ok, have to keep this in mind. I was planning to do my next oil change in a month or so, when my vacation starts. I trust the engine will hold together until then because there have been no problems so far, and as I'm not the first one to put 5W40 into Porky's veins..
  6. Really? So should I take 10W30, like Cepheuz said, since we do get some snow here? I wonder why the guy at the shop suggested 5W40 for me.. I even checked their list showing what oil goes into which car and it also said 5W40 for the 1.3 felly. I can't check the user's manual, since someone of the past owners has taken it into better use. But I do have the service history, and it also shows that at a real garage they have put 5W40 into it..
  7. Hmm.. Here in Finland I went to our local dealer and asked what oil I should put on my 1.3 Felicia, and he said 5W40. That's what I used and now, 2500km after the oil change, my blue Porky Pig hasn't eaten a single drop of it. So it seemed to work?
  8. I have a similar problem with the boot on my felly: it won't open from the lock on the boot, only from the lever next to the driver's seat. So do you mean you removed the grey plastic on the outside of the boot? The decoration on top of the license plate that is? Have to try that also some sunny day.
  9. Hi, I drove to school today with my felly with the thermostat hole revealed. I'm not sure how much of this I'm imaginating, but it felt much more stable and lively especially with a cold engine. The temperatures behave properly also, now the car seems to be OK once again
  10. Thanks, you saved my day! I already feared that I have to spend this lovely day working with the thermo even more Wonder what that hole does, or is it just to save weight..
  11. When looking at the engine from the front, it's on the right side of the thermostat. There's the thin hose coming from the coolant tank to the thermostat, this hole is right under it. My temperatures seem to be quite fine and logical. I don't see anything wrong with them.
  12. Hi all, I'm new to this forum. First I found Skoda Forum but this one seems to be more active. I'm a proud owner of a blue 1998 Felicia II with the 1.3 liter engine. I got it cheap with low mileage, a very good deal.
  13. Hi all, I bought a used Felicia a bit over a month ago. It's the facelift-model, 1998 with a 1.3 liter rocket engine. I'm very happy with the car, not once has it left me in trouble in the mornings before school or work. There has been only one slight problem: it has leaked coolant from around the thermostat. The leakage has been so little, that I've been quite lazy fixing it, but now it should finally be fixed as I changed the washer from between the thermostat and the engine and also the hose leading from the coolant tank to the thermostat. The previous owner had been clever and tried to use glue to fix the leak. I scraped the glue off today and found a hole from under it, right on the side of the thermostat. Here's a picture to demostrate it better: http://bayimg.com/BApoLAAbE I'm asking, what on earth is that hole? Should it be connected to something? At least driving normal highway speeds it didn't spray any coolant from that hole but what about when the engine gets even more hot during the coming summer? I'm just concerned that dare I drive the car now.. I appreciate the help!
