Mirrorlink being used over Android Auto
My 2018 model does this now, but didn't used to. Smartlink was enabled from the factory and I've owned since new. Unfortunately I can't pin point a date when it changed. This suggests to me its the AA app rather than the car, as I don't believe the car's firmware has had an update? I may be wrong... I've noticed if you plug in on the same day, having already selected AA in the morning say, it'll load it up normally.

Are all standard VAG stereos this bad?
I think lack of sound deadening is also a factor. Changing only the speakers may not do much. Buy several miles of Dynamat to shove in the whole car as well...

Are all standard VAG stereos this bad?
Slightly unfair comparison between a premium and non-premium brand! My dad's old Saab also had a fantastic standard sound system. Do you use Android Auto? This exaggerates the issue further. Still, it's better than the stereo the Qashqai we used to have.

Keep them silver!

Where are all the used vRS 245s?
Agreed. Dealer prices of cars like mine are still considerably more than what I bought it for a year ago when the lease ended.

How much are 19 Xtremes worth?
I'm wondering how phil7 got home. On the discs maybe? No mention of replacements 😁

2014 VRS Detachable Towbar: Witter or Westfield??
It certainly does!

Where are all the used vRS 245s?
Where are they? We've all bought them after the lease period! No way was I letting anyone else have 'my' 245. There's a red 50k miler on Auto Trader. Not identical to yours but should give you a rough idea. At 2 years old in Feb this year, I paid £17k with 20k miles, 2018 67 plate, manual, no options superleggera edition 😁

Back after a 5 year Hiatus... Trade in Question
4WD will be ideal. I'm very envious of that but not the type of fuel you'll be putting in it! Are you going for a manual or DSG? If the latter, I'd be curious to know how it copes towing the van...

Back after a 5 year Hiatus... Trade in Question
Haha. I assume its a different car so you cant remove the lot and install on the Octavia?! I also block the roads with a caravan, however, it does get to 60mph relatively quickly!

Back after a 5 year Hiatus... Trade in Question
Without a doubt leave it in the car when you trade in. Get over your Yorkshire ways What are you dragging?

My second VRS
Nice mods, thanks for sharing. Have you got a sound clip of the exhaust?

Can Lane Assist be adjusted to be less aggressive?
What is the problem of it correcting too early? Until my car had a new windscreen fitted (at only ~6 months old) I found that the lane assist kept the car pretty much in the middle of the lane because it was correcting often. Now (calibration issue possibly) it doesn't respond as quickly and it heads towards the white line before correcting.

Octavia Vrs Estate
Do you need the diesel? The 230 / 245 petrols are capable of 40mpg+ when driven right, no DPF issues, smoother, quicker. Pretty much just better in every way And both are (imo) better than a CRV. Unless you have a bad back.

3 car seats...
Congratulations 😁 I think with careful selection of the isofix seat and the other seat / booster you would manage. Look at the widths and go for the smallest. I too would do everything I could to keep the vRS if another one... happened.

OBDeleven must haves?
Changing the subject slightly - can OBD 11 change the lights when unlocking the car? When its dark the dipped beams and rear lights come on. Is it possible to have only the front DRLs (or fogs?) and rear lights to come on when unlocking regardless of time?

O3 245 FL vibrations at idle
I have noticed my 245 being a little bit lumpy at idle, but only during/after towing the caravan when the engine is warm. Mine has around 26k miles and is just over 2 1/2 years old. I only noticed it quite recently this summer. I'm not worried at the moment to be honest.

Can you set eyes on anything under the bonnet that would indicate the presence of the VAQ?

rear exhaust
The I6, V6 and some I5 diesels do sound good! But still not as pleasing as most of the petrol equivalents. I say most because the M3s / M4s sound terrible in my opinion.

Do you get the diff lock adjustment option in the drive mode select with the XDS system?

Golf GTD vs Octavia VRS
I honestly think the Focus looks great both hatchback and estate. To me, the petrol automatic ST estate is a very appealing car. It's just too expensive. You need to drive them both!

rear exhaust
I think the Kodiaq vRS has a feature in the exhaust system to produce an external noise, as opposed to the fake internal noise of the sound aktor. That has the 2L BI TDI engine though. Many years ago I had the original Fabia vRS with a turbo back Blueflame exhaust and sports cat. It sounded ok on boost but had the normal, dull 4 cylinder diesel noise at idle and pottering around. A few cars later was an Astra CDTI 150 and I fitted a K&N 57i. Whilst it was probably detrimental to performance, the sound inside the cabin was surprisingly good - loud turbo whistle and chatter when lifting off the accelerator. Might be worth a look if you're desperate!

Octy VRS buying tips
Well. When I said I was happy to be proven wrong, I lied. Honestly, I've been under the impression all 230 FLs don't have them but now we have some facts, so thank you. I say 'some' facts because ideally I think we need proof its physically installed on the car, so I think a strip down video is needed to be 100% certain. What do you think?
