  1. Yep mine is, and doesn't support rSAP - no big shakes. I stupidly tried to connect the car to the traffic jam girl's Nokia, which it wanted to as it gave me a code to enter into her handset :-)

Since then, whenever I hop in I get a message saying it can't find a paired phone.........doesn't seem to be any way of unpairing. Only one button to cancel but it's bugging me

Maybe if I get somebody elses phone and pair it then I'll see options to remove all pairings?

  2. Sat in a big jam in the cage so started playing with the setups.............. being an Apple user my phone doesn't play with my 58, but I thought I'd search for phones near me. Caught the girl in front's Nokia and stupidly tried to connect just for the crack........... now whenever I get in the car it's looking for a paired phone!

My own fault, but does anyone know how I can disable the automated Bluetooth pair attempt??

  3. Yes I've seen the images of the test vehicles disguised driving through the Alps....... the article states March 2012 minor facelift, to be debuted at Geneva

Bought a Superb myself at the weekend and the stealer knew sod all - actually, he knew sod all about cars in general but that's another story. I'll dig out the images and put them in this thread

  4. To say I'm dissapointed with the sound quality of the Columbus is an understatement - I'm gutted

The set up in my old Comfort trimmed Superb was imminently superior. This Columbus in my new motor is all over the shop. Like Manny did I've ended up with the high and mid range way way below the mid point and the bass at 75% just to try to stop it making my ears bleed. I remember cleaner sounding audio and tighter bass response in Ford Sierra's :-)

What's the crack here? Surely folks haven't been putting up with this rubbish?

Anyone know if this is a bug in an old firmware version or something?

  5. I had a drive of a manual boxed CR 170 Elegance with 33K miles. Not sure if the CR unit has wildly different characteristics - but it felt nowhere near as eager as my old remapped PD130 that's got 130K miles on it. In fact it felt like my current Superb would leave it standing, any gear, any revs?

Beautiful car though - returned 50.1mpg on a varied 10 mile test drive. Very tempted

  6. Hello All - long time no speak

I'm going to swap out my old Superb PD130 for a used Superb 2, but have a dilemma over the diesel units fitted to them

Am I right in thinking that there are old PD units in the range as well as common rail variants? I presume that the CR units are more favourable, and that the 140PD unit is effectively the same as in my current car, previous Golf etc

I'm after Elegance spec, am toying with the DSG route (must be getting old) and would appreciate any opinions

If anyone's looking to sell then I'm in the market

  7. Hi All - my reversing sensors packed in 6-7 months ago (2003 1.9TDi Comfort)

Couldn't be bothered to investigate / start swapping them out so just put up with the long loud beep when selecting the backwards cog

Two days ago they started working perfectly again, 10k after failing. The same day I had a rear brake bulb notification on the maxidot, so hooked out and replaced the rear right bulb. Immediately afterwards I sat in reverse waiting to pull out of a space at the garage for over a minute - got the normal long beep upon selection, however as I moved out and closed in on another car refuelling they came back to life

So, was it the bulb change? Was it leaving it in reverse for far longer than normal?

    Seems more than coincidental!

  8. Hi,

Anyone know where I might get a replacement gear knob insert for a superb elegance 06' online? The chrome has worn off and it looks really crappy now. The rest of the interior is bearing up very well after 50,000 with regular valeting. Doesn't seem to be many websites out there offering replacement interior parts. Will it be a main dealer parts counter job?

When you say the chrome has worn off, do you mean the image of the gate is wearing away and has left the chrome looking a bit patchy? Mine was like this so, couldn't find a new one so I just kept on rubbing it until all the decal and adhesive came away, polished it up and now it looks like brand new, albeit without detail to show you where the gears are - who needs that anyway!

  9. I've the same issue - and in fact my bulbs were ****e as well...............Halfrauds were doing these super mental 90% brighter bulbs buy one get one free with free fitting the other day..........got them to lob some in and they're about three times better than before

Cracks me up that they can get away with claiming 90% brighter - that would be like daylight then

Would still like to get the insides clean though

  10. Really is it that simple?

It's called a search operator - or you may remember it from school as Boolean logic

"Skoda" Superb will return you results that contain the exact words "Skoda" and "Superb" in the title in any order

Searching "Skoda Superb" will only return results with those words in that exact order in the title

You can add an asterisk and it'll return any words in an items title that start with that word.......example door* would return doorknobs, doorbells.....blah blah blah

A comma acts as an OR operator - so if you searched on "mouse, rat" it would bring back results containing mouse OR rat in the title

Useful to know as it also applies in search engines, well, whenever you query any database in fact

  11. This thread's a wind up right? The mirror's where it is and doesn't move up or down for a reason............it's the driver that needs to move. I'm over 6'4" and have never had need in any vehicle to move the mirror upwards - mind you the mirrors on my bikes are only ever any good for checking out my shoulders ;)

EDIT> sorry Doc - I take that back, just checked a picture and that mirror's a bleedin' whopper!

  12. Here's the improvement I gained after £200 and a couple of hours at P-Torque Wolverhampton................ this was just the 'general' remap giving me more power, gob loads more torque and better economy. If I wanted I could have had it mapped for pure economy, but the way it is I'm well chuffed..........the PD130 in this state is a fine engine

  13. Nope not the alternator pulley, i changed mine last year because i have the same rattle, but it is still there.

It obviously isn't something that is about to fail immediately though as mine has been doing it for the last 20K+ miles, without getting any better or worse.

I get something right at the point where it delivers gob loads of torque, really hard to describe the noise though - wouldn't describe it as a rattle - only does it since it was remapped

  14.

To be fair, I'd quite happily have a 1.9 (130) with the right spec level (for the right price) as they generally get quite good reviews. I haven't heard much about this model and I think that is why this one has caught my interest.

1.9 TDi (130) then spend a couple of hundred quid on a decent remap and you'll have yourself something rather quick, rather large, that will return 50+ to the gallon without trying
